How do you tackle the 2nd Challenge in "Campaign Mode" on Splinterlands?

Itâs been over a month since I wrote a post about the new âChallengesâ in campaign mode. Well, the truth is, I completely forgot to continue this series of posts, but Iâve had a guide on how to complete this challenge ready for you for a month now. Of course, this information is geared more toward new playersâthose who are just starting out and want to learnâsince this is a great place to grasp the basics of the game. In fact, âBook 1â of this mode is essential for getting started, because itâs in the âChallengesâ where youâll apply certain strategies on the battlefield.
But so you don't get lost and know where to go, if you click HERE, youâll be able to see and read that first post I published about âBattle Challengesâ in this mode, explaining the decisions I made in that battle to defeat my opponent, and thatâs exactly what I want to do this time, but with âChallenge 2,â which gives you a key tip to help you understand the effects of certain abilities and how to protect yourself from themâsomething you have to constantly interpret and learn if you want to stay in the game.
So, if you don't know anything about what I'm talking about, read the first post I linked above. After you do that, come back to this post and check out the second challenge. If you don't understand anything, don't worryâI'll try to make it as simple as possible for you all. So, stick around until the end, and let's get into the explanation.

How do you get started with Challenge #2, and what do you need to learn?

Okay, the first thing you need to know is that each âChallengeâ contains very important information to learn. in fact, the image above shows all the information, but if you donât understand what youâre seeing, donât worryâIâll help you understand what this interface displays and how to interpret this information to prepare for battle, and of course, take all those important recommendations or âtipsâ that are provided in each of the âChallenges.â
So, with that in mind, what does this image or interface actually show us when we log in?

Elements of the âBattle Challengeâ
Tip: This is the first thing youâll come across, and you should read it, since it explains how certain key aspects of the game workâin this case, abilities. For example, the hint for this second challenge is: âWhat type of attack doesnât take damage from âThornsâ?â Itâs a pretty interesting question, since the battle youâre about to face has a lot to do with that specific type of attack you need to prioritize.
The Opponentâs Team: Itâs essential that you familiarize yourself with the cards shown here and, of course, with all the cards in the âFoundationsâ set, since the challenges involve all of these cards. Additionally, for the next battle, youâll need to devise a strategy to counter the enemyâs strategyâwhich is the one shown there.
The Rules of Battle: This is the most important thing of allâI always emphasize itâbecause if you know how to interpret the rules of battle, youâll always be able to devise a combination that increases your chances of winning. plus, as I said, the âTipâ you receive plays a big role, because one of the rules is âBriar Patch,â which grants the âThornsâ ability to everyone on the field. That means you need to know what kind of attack to use so that âThornsâ doesnât affect you.

Example of a winning lineup in âChallenge 2â

Well, in the image you can see the opponentâs lineup and, of course, mine. As you can see, their strategy is based more on defense and using melee attacks, taking advantage of the speed their Archon provides. Of course, we have a slight advantage because we know what we need to play, but thatâs exactly what itâs all aboutâlearningâbecause even though I canât see their cards, I can see the rules and use them to devise almost the same strategy.
Thatâs why the rules are so importantâbecause even if you canât see exactly what your opponent will play, you have the rules and an understanding of their effects, which will give you an edge over the rest. Youâll know what kind of cards to play so they work in your favor and align with the rules, rather than working against you.

So, here's how I laid out my strategy:
The Defense and Bait Front: My strategy was simple: my plan was to play a card that would draw all attacks toward it using the âTauntâ ability, since it has good HP and shield, and it also has âThornsâ in case itâs attacked in melee. On the other hand, the following cards have the âSneakâ and âOpportunityâ abilities, which also attack the opponentâs monsters, but beyond that, they serve as the âdefenseâ of the combo.
Ranged Attack: Since itâs best to attack from a distance and avoid âThorns,â I used magic attacks, which are the best way to damage the opponent while dodging âThorns.â I placed my strongest cards there. My opponent tried to do almost the same thing, but he only played two ranged cards, while I played threeâthatâs why I had the advantage and won.

Conclusion

So, what I want you to see here is that, as long as you follow the rules of battle, youâll be able to counter your opponentâs strategiesâthough, of course, this doesnât work 100% of the time. If you do what Iâve explained in this post, youâll be able to win all the challenges very easily; itâs just a matter of practice. Thatâs why the Splinterlands team includes these types of game modes to help new users learn.
If youâre new and have questions or need guides, leave a comment, and Iâll be happy to share the best ones Iâve already put together.
