Should the new "Visions of Verico" land card expansion have been sold by SPS?

Something I’ve been wondering about ever since I published my last post on the “Visions Of Verico” presale is that, in order to buy the packs, you needed at least one of the three assets I mentioned in that post. For those who didn’t see it, the tokens used to purchase these packs are (CREDITOS, DEC, and USDC)—which isn’t bad, after all, the goal is to offer options to all players who hold one or the other. But what if it had only been with SPS? That might have pushed the price of SPS higher, considering that it’s been hitting all-time lows and looks like it’s set to keep falling.
Well, in this post, I want to analyze precisely that: what would have happened if, perhaps, only the SPS had been used as a form of payment, or, failing that, the DEC, and maybe some methods and/or bonuses applied to the SPS that players have in staking. This is just one real-world example of what could be implemented; however, let’s look at more details on how future presales could be structured to strengthen the SPS. Ultimately, if updates increase demand for the asset, there’s usually a fairly sharp upward rebound because users and/or players want that benefit.
But to learn more about these scenarios or ideas, stick around until the end of this post so we can explore some examples:

What is the current status of the SPS?

The price of SPS has been hitting new lows; of course, this is due to the volatility of “Bitcoin,” which sets the trend for the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem and, in a way, sets the pace, but part of this downturn—in addition to what I just mentioned—is the low level of activity I’ve observed. Basically, it’s all about gaming and mining, but when these types of “presales” are created, I think it’s an excellent opportunity to capitalize on what SPS means within the game, since the idea is to generate demand not only for SPS but also for most of the ecosystem’s assets.
But before we perhaps delve into some related ideas, let's take a quick look at the price:

SPS Analysis

In the image above, we can clearly see the trend and the most important price levels marked by $SPS. The lowest price it has reached—and where it is currently rebounding—is $0.002712, with clear resistance at the price levels of $0.003967 and $0.004485; however, for this to even happen, the price would have to move at least 36.65% from its current level of approximately $0.002903
This might seem simple from a distance, and given that it’s one of the most volatile markets in the world, it’s entirely possible, but, based on everything that’s currently unfolding, there isn’t much demand right now to drive the price to those levels. Therefore, the most likely scenario is that the price will continue to fall despite the fact that we’re seeing a “rebound”—which is completely normal, since the price will never move in a single direction without experiencing rebounds, as everything moves in waves. Even so, the reason for this post is that we can take advantage of “presales” to boost our engagement with the main tokens in the “Splinterlands” ecosystem.

"Pre-sales" proposals and ideas related to and promoted by SPS

The point of these ideas is that every “Pre-sale”—or at least most of them—should focus on using SPS to boost its usability and demand, since, these are the only ways in which SPS needs to be purchased to yield a future benefit in the game. Of course, I know there’s also a need to have “SPS in Staking” to increase your in-game multipliers and thereby generate more SPS and GLINT, but the reality is that we can do more to create demand for SPS.
But let's see what these “proposals” might be:

Proposals for Including SPS in Pre-Sales
SPS as the Exclusive Payment Method: I’m one of those who believes that presales of promotional cards or perhaps certain land plot offers should be conducted using SPS as the sole accepted form of payment. While this might seem a bit radical, the reality is that the benefits could have a direct impact on the price of SPS, since everyone would be forced to purchase SPS on the market, thereby reducing the supply surrounding the ecosystem’s main asset.
Loyalty Discounts (Staking): Although the previous proposal could cause some conflicts—because, in a way, it would sideline the DEC—instead of using it as a one-time payment in presales, promotions, or whatever, a sort of table with dynamic prices based on players’ and/or users’ commitment to the token could be implemented in each of these presales.
| SPS Stake Days | Discount on Packs | "Fortune Draw" Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| 0–30 days | Base Price | Standard |
| 31–90 days | 5% Discount | +10% chance of getting Foils |
| +180 days | 15% Off | Access to Black Foil Arcane Editions |
- Tiers by Locked Volume: This is an idea that many of you may have already considered, but it makes a lot of sense. For example, you could create “prestige chests” that are only accessible to users who lock up large amounts of SPS for a presale, which would guarantee rarer cards in the process and, of course, boost demand for SPS.

Conclusion

These may not be the best ideas, but I hope this can help the SPS gain more recognition as a currency with uses beyond what we already know, with the goal of increasing its demand—which should be our focus in order to gradually add more value to the token. Furthermore, this will likely open doors to more significant listings in the medium and long term.
