It is a pleasure to bring content about this great game "play2earn" called "Splinterlands", where we are able to generate income doing what we love the most which is playing video games. As every week I want to thank the whole team @splinterlands and especially @carrieallen, which has supported me since I started in this game, also highlight the incredible opportunity that all players have to highlight and learn about combat strategies thanks to these weekly challenges, which is great, because, without them, we really would not see that great utility that the cards have.

This time the weekly challenge is about using a great card that is part of the "Splinter of Fire" called "Lava Spider", which is one of the new additions to the team through the new edition of "Chaos Legion". My experience with this card is good, since I can use it at a good level and take advantage of its powerful ranged attack to cause problems to my opponent, besides devising some battle strategies with it and highlighting its abilities to the maximum in many battle rules, so in my opinion, it is a very adaptable card in different areas in the game.

Now, having said that, I will start describing how was my battle using this great skill. Join me...

As I said, it is a card of the new edition of "Chaos Legion", being this one of "Common" rarity, also its design is really good and I like how it looks, it is fresh with finishes that cause a perfect confluence with what represents its name and the team to which it belongs, referring to an authentic spider covered with extremely dangerous lava, launching ranged attacks totally covered with magma. On the other hand, the main stats from its lowest level, are very acceptable, taking into account its rarity, having from level 1 +4 health points, +2 speed and +1 ranged attack.

Of course, this increases much more while we can raise it little by little level, but at the level that I own it which is 7, we can be satisfied, since it has +5 life points, +3 speed, and +2 attack points, however, the optimal level and the strongest, where it can cause much more damage is at level 10, this is because it has one of the most deadly skills of the game, which is able to decrease the vital points of the cards of the opponents to which it reaches in each round.

Throughout its levels, this monster has 3 abilities: The famous "Snipe", which concentrates its attack on monsters with no melee attack on the field, now, if there are only monsters with this type of attack mentioned above, it will directly attack the opponent's tank. Its second ability is "Snare", an ability that weaves a web, capable of neutralizing the ability to fly, as long as it reaches them with its attack, something very useful for certain types of rules; and finally, we have the fearsome ability called "Poison", which is activated if our "Lava Spider" manages to hit an attack, causing -2 points of direct damage to the life points of the card involved in each round.

This card is really strong, despite being a common card, it can be very useful on the battlefield, taking into account that its main stats grow in each level and so do its abilities, being adaptable to a wide percentage of rules.

This is the section where I make a summary of what was my battle along with my strategy for it, in that sense, my goal using the challenge card was to test my "Lava Spider" in my lineup, focusing on its intrinsic ability called "Snipe", which focuses on all those monsters that do not have "Melee" attack. On the other hand, I wanted to protect my "Lava" from possible sneak attacks from the rear of my opponent, so I placed in my lineup, cards capable of attacking from the last position and the weakest, this would open the way for my "Lava Spider" to freely attack my opponent without any interruptions.

This is a very simple strategy, but really effective, as I have tried it a lot of times and for the most part, depending on the rules and existing decks, it usually has a good win rate. So it is a very good addition to any deck of cards in the fireteam, taking into account that I have to keep testing it in many more rules.

Rule of my Battle

Holy Protection & Rise of the Commons with 18 Mana.

  • Mana: 18
  • Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability.
  • Rise of the Commons: Only Commons and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.

Malric Inferno

This is one of the strongest fire summoners in my deck, so my intention was to take advantage of the full potential of most of my cards and my "Lava Spider". On the other hand, I focused on placing more melee attacks, directing my strategy to the cards with fewer life points and also to the last cards in my opponent's formation. My goal was to neutralize my opponent from every possible angle he could devise to defeat me.

Cerberus

This is one of my favorite monsters in the fire team, as it is a tank with very low summoning mana of only 4 points. On the other hand, it has a great attack strength of +3 points at its level 6 which is that I own it, plus the Malric's power boost gives it a total power of +4 "Melee" attack points. In addition, it has +8 health points, which makes it quite resistant, not to mention its great "Heal" ability, which allows it to recover each turn and the "Retaliate" ability, which returns the attack to the opponent once he is attacked.

Furious Chicken

This is an excellent card, I chose it to occupy the second position of my lineup, only with the objective that it could protect the rest of my cards in my formation since from the 3rd position begins the real offensive of my strategy, this would give me much more time and an additional attack, so that my cards can attack, taking into account that they are mostly the fastest cards on the battlefield.

Kobold Miner

I use this card very often in my strategies, it is a very good low mana summoning cost card, with a great sneaky ability that focuses on attacking the last monsters in my opponent's lineup, this ability is called "Sneak", my goal is to defeat the most dangerous cards of my opponent that could affect my offensive, to defeat his cards with the "Sneak", Snipe and "Opportunity" abilities, of course, this was what I intuited when I could see the last lineups of my opponent.

Battering Ram

This is a very simple card, but really useful, especially for low summoning mana battles like this one, since it has the same summoning mana cost as my "Kobold Miner" which is only 2 points. On the other hand, my goal of placing this card in the 4th position was to protect it, so that it could focus on defeating the monsters with the lowest life points in my opponent's lineup, all thanks to the "Opportunity" ability, plus its +2 melee attack points and its great speed of +4 points, make it a difficult card to reach, at least if the melee attack type is concerned.

Beetle Queen

In my strategy, I had to have a support card that focused on supporting my tank to recover its valuable life points in each round, so the only option I had available in my fire team is my "Beetle Queen", which has the ability called "Tank Heal", able to recover in each round the life points of my "Cerberus", causing it to be even more resistant and able to withstand many more rounds, in order to defeat my opponent's tank. On the other hand, my "Beetle Queen" has a type of magic attack of +2 points, however, it was diminished by my opponent thanks to his summoner, but it can still support my Cerberus in the mission of defeating the cards in the first position.

Lava Spider

The challenge card and the last card of my formation, the purpose of placing it in the last battle position is due to its ranged attack type that definitely could not be used in the first position in this battle, but it is a very good addition to my team since its ranged attack is focused on defeating my opponent's cards, which possess magical, ranged and no ranged attacks, so in this particular case, its mission was to defeat my opponent's "Death Elemental", but, thanks to the speed of my "Kobold", it was able to get the job done first.

My strategy did work since it focused on neutralizing all the main types of attacks in the battle that my opponent could use against me, in addition, I could use some of these same attacks to neutralize the existing threat of destroying both my offensive and my healing support card. Now, I must continue testing more strategies with my "Lava Spider" to be able to decide which type of rule adapts much better to the battle, in this sense, I am one of those who use each type of card for specific situations, this helps me to assemble different teams to face any type of rules that could appear in the game.

This is a new card, I have not really used it much in battle, but I am sure it can be very useful for many existing rules within the game, however, I have not used it in many more battles in order to determine which rule I could perform better, as there are in my fire team, cards very similar to my "Lava Spider" that fulfill the same function, so in my opinion, it is very useful and worth leveling it up.

¡I invite everyone to join Splinterlands, the best game based on chains of blocks, full of adventures, battles and strategies where you will have fun and get rewards according to your league!

Hey, this strategy sounds pretty good.

I had never paid attention to this card before, but I'm convinced to rent it.
