The importance of "Speed" in a battle 🔥

For several weeks I have been sharing battle strategies where I highlight different ways in which the skills and/or rules of a battle, can be used to place the odds of winning in our favor and increase our win rate, on the other hand, in these same alignments, I emphasize that, one of the main stats that cards possess and that win many battles is "Speed", which of course absolutely all the monsters that we can use possess, so, in this opportunity, I thought it would be good to share an alignment where speed is really determinant in my victory and that this, can decide who wins or loses.

In this specific battle, I show how speed helps me in every way to be able to beat my opponent; and is that, having the opportunity to attack first, gives us a huge advantage before our opponent can do it, because, a scenario may arise, where our opponent may have cards with very powerful abilities on his side of the field, but if for example, one of my cards manages to attack his cards first avoiding his ability to activate, basically the chances that I can be victorious increase by a large percentage, which is the goal we all want in the game. So, based on the above, I hope you enjoy this post, because I will give you all the details you should know and/or apply, to make speed decisive in your game.

Before continuing with what was my lineup, I will explain the skill that, in my opinion, made that I could win this battle, also, I will take the opportunity to give more details on how and when to use it.

Swiftened is one of the oldest skills in the game, which is able to increase the speed of all monsters on my side of the field and as I said, it can give us a great advantage in the development of the battle, all this by the simple fact of being able to attack first as many times as possible, so, using a card that gives us "Swiftened", can be very beneficial to our strategy and alignment in battle.

Of course, this does not mean that it is easy to use, since one of the most used skills by all players is the counterpart of "Swiftened", the so-called "Slow" skill, which decreases by -1 point the speed of all monsters in the opposing field of the user who plays it, a technique that most players use very often, however, there are several ways in which we can counter "Slow" and; even with his ability on the field, we can still make the most of the speed and "Swiftened" to win the battle.

Knowing this, I will detail which are the combinations in which we can use "Swiftened", in order to increase our chances of winning:

  • Flying Ability: This ability can give us a great advantage in battle, taking into account that, if our monster has very good speed points and additionally it can fly, the probabilities of our opponent missing an attack increase much more. Also, if our card flies, and has +4 points of speed and additionally we play a card that has the ability of "Swiftened", the total speed would be +5 points, which increases the probability of failure of the attack by our opponent, in addition to guaranteeing us to attack before he does it.

  • Fast card game: Another way in which we can use speed to our advantage in conjunction with the ability of "Swiftened" and also neutralize "Slow", is that we devise a strategy where most of our monsters have a speed equal to or greater than +4 points. If this is fulfilled, our speed will be higher than 4 and 5 points, giving us security and defense so that our opponent misses most of his range and melee attacks and giving us an important advantage, since we would attack first.

  • Swiftened Combination: We must be prepared at all times, since most of our opponents will play at least one card with the "Slow" ability, but if we can coordinate an alignment where 2 or more monsters with the "Swiftened" ability are introduced, our probability of attacking first will increase much more and we will be able to acquire an immediate advantage over our opponent.

  • Summoner and Monster Combination: Very similar to the previous combination, but this time in conjunction with our summoner, so, as you may already know, there are several summoners that provide speed points to our battle lineup, where in addition, if we manage to combine it with monsters that have the "Swiftened" ability, we will be able to make a defensive and offensive team, which will be very strong and where we will surely attack first in all rounds, giving us an absolute advantage against our opponent.

  • Alienation with the rules of battle: This is very important, as we should use our speed as long as the battle rules come into confluence with our strategy, since, if we want to use our speed to win, but we have that one of the battle rules benefit the slower monsters and make them attack first, we should desist from an alignment that increases our speed, and rather focus on using the slower monsters in our deck of cards.

This is an ability that I highly recommend using, since, as I already mentioned, our win rate will surely increase, however, it is not a strategy that works 100%, since our opponent is on the other side of the field and can also use the speed against us and damage our strategy with some other ability or attack.

These are all the cards that possess this ability Source

Throughout all the sections of this post, I have commented on all the positive aspects of using speed in conjunction with the "Swiftened" skill to increase our win rate, so, in this battle, my strategy was simple, accompanied by an easy to replicate lineup and with very clear objectives.

The first of them is to use a resistant tank and preferably with the "Heal" skill intrinsic, with the sole objective that it can withstand as many rounds as possible on the field, since, due to the amount of mana available for this battle, which is only 19 points, it was the most sensible thing to do.

On the other hand, seeing the last formations that my opponent had used, did not give me the necessary information to play specifically with a strategy, so, my decision was to bet directly on speed, this is where I focused on placing a card that had the ability to "Swiftened", followed by the fastest cards that the amount of mana available allowed me to play, these focused on the offensive, a diversified attack and directed to several specific cards of my opponent.

This is a very simple strategy, but quite useful, and of course anyone can replicate it. You just have to be clear that speed is essential in battles with low mana and accompanied by a coordinated offensive, the probability of winning is much higher.

Rule of my Battle

Holy Protection & Healed Out with 19 Mana.

As for the rules of this specific battle, they were as follows:

  • Mana: 19
  • Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability.
  • Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners.

Malric Inferno

This is one of my favorite summoners since I joined "Splinterlands", since, melee type attacks, I like a lot with the "Fire Splinter", since, in my opinion, it is an innate team for frontal type battles. Based on this and due to the little mana available to summon, I knew I had to rely on fire and use all the speed that this team offers me in company of an incredible increase in "Melee" skills by +1 point.

Cerberus

For battles with very low summoning hand, "Cerberus" is the perfect tank for this kind of battles, since its low amount of mana, being only 4 points, allows me to play a really powerful monster, with a pretty good amount of life and most importantly with the "Heal" ability that allows it to recover in each round. In addition to this, it has a great speed that amounts to +6 points, thanks to one of my cards with the "Swiftened" ability.

Furious Chicken

By now most of you should know that, in my formations, or at least in almost all of them, my fabulous "Chicken" cannot be missing, since its usefulness is really high even though it is not a card that has useful abilities in battle. However, by placing it in the second position, I make sure I can protect the next card in my lineup, which is the 3rd one, since this is the one that gives me the "Swiftened" ability, so I will always have an additional chance to survive one more round, thanks to the fact that my "Furious Chicken" can absorb these attacks.

gif sp.gif

Flame Imp

This is the crucial card in my formation, which gives me an incredible support, by giving +1 additional speed points to all my team thanks to its ability called "Swiftened" that I have mentioned throughout this post. The purpose of placing him in the 3rd position is to protect him, so that I can give all my monsters this speed that allows me to get an important advantage against my opponent. In addition, although this position is a bit risky for me "Flame Imp", it has a great defense, which is its "Speed" and its ability to be able to "Fly", so the chances that it can receive a direct attack from range or melee, may be somewhat low. Finally, his +2 magic attack points help my tank with the task of defeating my opponent's powerful "Baakjira".

gif sp.gif

Kobold Miner

A card that I use very often, since its type of attack, allows me to focus on destroying, apart from the most dangerous alignment that my opponent could have against me, focusing on attacking the last position, thanks to the ability of "Sneak" that it has. This has a very good speed, making it a lethal card, with the power to cause +3 points of damage to whoever it manages to reach.

gif sp.gif

Fire Beetle

Another card that I use a lot in my lineups, since its "Snipe" ability, allows me to focus on attacking those cards of my opponent, that do not have attack, or that have ranged or magic attacks, which many times can have very dangerous abilities that focus on neutralizing some of my attacks or more deadly abilities. However, another advantage I had against my opponent is that he only focused on attacking my rear with "Sneak" and defeating my tank, which was clearly strong enough to withstand these attacks.

gif sp.gif

Fire Demon

This is the last card of my lineup, being the most powerful of my lineup, as it has a very strong +3 ranged attack points and a powerful and very useful ability called "Blast", which allows me to attack and do direct damage to cards that are adjacent to my attack target, in this case, my target is my opponent's "Baakjira" tank and his adjacent card is the "Uraeus", which is easily defeated by my "Fire Demon" and my "Cerberus" tank, besides, my card has a very good speed, which is increased by the "Swiftened" of my "Flame Imp".

My strategy was very well coordinated for the amount of mana required in the battle, so this lineup was very well balanced, as I focused on placing a really strong and resistant tank, with the help of a very good support monster like my "Flame Imp" that increased its speed points to such an extent, that most of my opponent's ranged attacks towards me "Cerberus" missed and didn't hit the target. In addition, my offensive was divided into "Furious" attacks, with the objective of defeating the threats in the last positions of my opponent's formation, and a "Snipe" type attack, to help my "Kobold Miner" in the task of eliminating these offensive support monsters.

On the other hand, my opponent used a good battle formation, placing a tank with very good life points, but not protected at least with a "Tank Heal", in order to protect him and give more opportunity for his offensive to do the job of defeating my cards. By not having a support that helped his tank regenerate his health each round, his odds went down and more so when I was able to increase the speed of my attacks which allowed me to get ahead and win the battle.

To end this post, I hope you have learned that, speed in battles is really important and that you can combine the "Swiftened" skill in several ways, in order to increase your chances of winning.

Great post, speed is a big one.
I don't know if those blinking gif fire lines are made by you. Do you mind if I use them in my future post for the fire league. They are really cool
