This week's battle challenge is the Gargoya Scrapper.

Lets start by examining the card.

The Gargoya Scrapper is a common one mana melee card in the life splinter from chaos legion. This is a great low mana tank, sneak or opportunity block. It starts with two health for one mana that is one more health than mana it is slow with two speed and only one attack. At level three this card get void which allows it to take one less damage from magic attacks. If pairs with other cards that have silence this card can be in-destructible if the other side is all magic and it is reduced their magic attack is reduced to one.
Level One Gargoya Scrapper
Level Three Gargoya Scrapper
Usage:

RulesetExplanation
OverallGreat low mana tank that can be use to take a hits up front, opportunity or sneak block, or as a great tank in equalizer and little league. Paired together in both little league and equalize this card becomes a beast of a tank.
Super SneakYou can place this card in the back for super sneak to take the initial hit.
Little LeagueThis is a great tank for little league because if it mana cost and most little league magic cards will only have one damage and they will not do damage to time.
EqualizerThis is a great tank for equalizer because of it's low mana cost and at level three it gets void reducing the damage from magic by 1.

Battle

For this battle it was a 16 mana battle with Stampede and Equalize with all splinters but fire and dragon available. My focus for the day was life and I noticed my opponent was playing water with magic which made my decision to use the Gargoya Scrapper a shoe in. I also had Kiara Lightbringer rented so I was able to use a 2 mana summon so I could fix a few more cards into this battle. My strategy was to help block magic damage with the Scrapper and use double heals to help keep him a live through what ever damage they threw at him for as long as I could while the Peacebringer work down their from line.

The line up I have here this battle:

  • For my tank I pick the Gargoya Scrapper.
  • Next is the Soul Fiend to help tank after the Scrapper went down.
  • Next I loaded up on heal double healing with the Divine Healer and Venari Crystalsmith.
  • My damage was the Celestial Harpy and Peacebringer, the Harpy was the best two mana damage card I had left as I wanted to bring the Peacebringer with it's three damage and four speed.

My opponent's setup

My opponent when minus one magic summoner in Bortus but I only had a one magic attack card anyway so this didn't effect my cards. He went a non attack front tank in the Kelp Initiate, a one magic Icy Pixie (which is great this will do no damage to my Scrapper), a tank heal in the Crustacean King with one range damage, the Pelacor Bandit with sneak and two damage, the Xenith Archer with one range damage, a back line tank in the Hardy Stonefish with one damage and one armor.

Because this was Equalizer all the cards health went to 5 health from the Kelp Initiate / Divine Healer / Venari Crystalsmith.

Round One

  • The Peacebringer goes first and taking the Initiate down to 2 health.
  • The Bandit hits my Peacebringer taking it to 3 health.
  • The Pixie goes but can't damage my Scrapper
  • The Crystalsmith and Healer goes killing the Initiate before the King got a chance to heal him.
  • The Harpy goes taking the Pixie to 3 health and my Scrapper misses the Pixie.
  • The Archer and King both go taking my Scrapper down to two health and healing the Pixie back to full.
    Round One

Round Two

  • The Peacebringer goes first and taking the Pixie down to two health.
  • The Bandit hits my Peacebringer taking it to 1 health.
  • The Pixie goes but can't damage my Scrapper
  • The Crystalsmith and Healer goes killing the Pixie before the King got a chance to heal it again. They both heal my Scrapperback to full.
  • The Harpy goes removing the armor from the King and my Scrapper take him to four health.
  • The Archer and King both go taking my Scrapperdown to four healh from the archer doing one damage and the King heals himself back to full but can't attack in the from line.
    Round Two

Round Three

  • The Peacebringer goes first and taking the King down to two health.
  • The Bandit hits my Peacebringer killing it. Their first kill but my opponent is already down to four cards
  • The Crystalsmith and Healer goes killing the King. They both heal my Scrapper back to full.
  • The Harpy taking the Bandit down to three health.
  • My Scrapper misses the Bandit
  • The Archer take my Scrapper down to four health.
    Round Three

Round Four

  • At this point the battle is over they only have total damage left my Scrapper has five health and the two healer will heal him back to full from the three damage.
  • The battle is over in 2 more rounds with a victory for me.
    Round Four

Conclusion

While I was expecting my opponent to go a bit more magic heavy my strategy work. Even if My opponent didn't split his damage the double heals would have helps to keep my Scrapper a live if he did fall I had a back up tank with the fiend. Over all I was pumping out eight damage a round if everything hit while my opponent only have five damage total two of which would have always came after my healers went.
