Weekly Challenge! VENARI KNIFER

This week's battle challenge is the Venari Knifer.

Lets start by examining the card.

The Venari Knife is a common six mana melee card in the water earth from chaos legion. This is a great mid mana tank. It starts with 7 health for six mana that is 1 more health than mana it is also quick at 4 speed with two attack. I play in silver until gold the Venari Knifer's main benefit is thorns and with the new rank reward changes I haven't had the earth splinter and didn't have a chance to play the knifer in rank or tournament play. I did have a battle where I used the Mycelic Morphoid also in the earth splinter but a low mana tank with thorns. A lot of time if I use thorns with earth I'll also use Mylor as the summoner instead.

Battle

For this battle it was a 20 mana battle with Earthquake and Taking Sides with all splinters but water and dragon available. For this battle I went earth for the magic damage and to be able to use the Regal Peryton for flying. The Mycelic Morphoid here to take a hit from the my opponent tank and for it to take thorns damage.

The line up I have here this battle:

  • For my tank I pick the Mycelic Morphoid, To take a hit from the opponents tank and do thorns damage back.
  • Next is the Fungus Fiend this was sololy to take another hit if they got through the Morphoid before they got to the slipspawn.
  • I used slipspawn to draw fire from range and magic to protect the Regal Peryton.
  • Lastly the Regal Peryton who has flying to handle the earth quake.
    Link to the Battle

My opponent's setup

Used the life splinter with two flying units Adelade and Celestial Harpy. They also used the Scrapper and Chaos Knight up front to take hits like I did with the Morphoid and Fiend with their own fiend in the back.

Round 1

  • My Peryton takes out the Scapper
  • The Chaos knight takes out my Morphoid and takes 1 thorns damage
  • The Slipspawn does 3 damage to the Chaos Night
  • The Harpy and Adelade do 3 damage to my Slipspawn with the Adelade repair the Knights armor.
  • My Fiend does no damage to the Knight
    Round 1

Round 2

  • Earth quake kills both fiends
  • The Peryton kills the Chaos Knight
  • The slipspawn hits Adelade for 3 health
  • The Harpy and Adelade hit my splipspawn for 3 healt
    Round 2

Round 3

  • Earthquake kills my splipspawn
  • The Peryton kills Adelade
  • The Harpy does 1 damage to the Peryton
    Round 3

Round 4

  • The Peryton kills the Harpy

Round 4

Conclusion

My overall strategy worked I went with magic damage to do damage straight to health. I used the Peryton as my flying unit to withstand the earth quake. I used the Slipspawn as a heavy tank that could dish out some damage with meat shield in front of it to take melee attacks be for they got to my slipspawn.
