Town hall bring lots of new and exciting changes.

Splinterlands vs Bots

They have said the new rank reward changes had some flaw which will be addressed but any changes that effect bots will also effect players splinterlands remains bot neutral.

With this there will be a lot of economy changes coming down the line:

  • DEC will be replaced by SPS in ranked battles and reward chests.
  • SPS pool will be fixed per league.
  • Staked SPS will become very important.
  • $1 SPS will be burnable for 1000 DEC.
  • Merits will be added to the rank battle rewards.

Economy changes:

So lets start by taking about DEC... up to this point DEC and SPS have been flowing freely, DEC too freely. Once the SPS airdrop ends and SPS replaces DEC the passive income from splinterlands will stop. Earning will be tied largely to staked SPS to earn from rank rewards, rewards chests, brawls, leaderboards, licenses, and returns on staking.

DEC current uses are upgrading guild buildings then renting and buying cards. The first is the one most effected by this change. Renting and buy cards can be done with credits also which can be purchased for fiat or other crypto's like SPS. They will introduce the ability to burn $1 in SPS get 1000 DEC which will help DEC hold it's peg. If DEC drops two low then you will use the market place to swap SPS for DEC. If DEC is over peg then burn $1 in SPS to get DEC. Though the overall use of DEC will mostly become upgrading guild buildings since renting and buy cards can be done with SPS. We'll have to see if they add other utilities for DEC.

I highly suggest if you have to make sure to start staking some SPS or when SPS goes to rank rewards and chest make sure to stake it then. We may also want to hold onto DEC when the airdrop end a large amount will be used for CL packs and guild upgrade especially since we know SPS will be in brawls.

Merits the next big thing?

This bring us to merits we heard we will be getting merits from the reward chest. What this will do is reduce the number of cards given out and it will also reduce DEC then SPS from rewards. This will reduce the amount of reward bot will get it... or will it? Will the bot farms make their own guilds and upgrade so they can buy gladius cards to burn for DEC.

Which leads me to gladius cards... you will want to collect and upgrade gladius cards to match the level of your summoners to be able to compete in brawls. Then hold and upgrade them for the next level of you summoners after that you can burn them for DEC to buy and upgrade your cards and summoners for tournaments and rank rewards. The ability to burn gladius cards for DEC will make what is a small change of adding merits to rewards a big change for players that are active in guilds.

Take away

I am continuing to stake SPS until we see how staked SPS effects what we get as drops. When the Airdrop end I plan to hold my DEC it could very well see a boost back to peg, buying some now could easily result in an easy 2X in value. Merits will be a big perk first in building up for brawls, possible tournaments, and then burning for DEC.
