Hiatus over!

With the holidays over and caught up on work from being off for a couple weeks it's time to start being back my posts.

Next Reward cards

It's been a little over a week since SL announced the new Chaos Legions reward cards. With this announcement came the confirmation that the reward cards will be soulbound. But more importantly we found out from the post that all previous CL reward cards will be discontinued. While I understand this for the CL reward cards that were nearing their print run and the set of reward card commons have finished their print already. What I disagree with is the last set of reward that were introduced. The legendary are only 20% printed which means this hurt the majority of the players except the bot farms and whales who already have those cards maxed out.

But overall the soulbound reward cards are needed and I guess it was easier to take the short cut of just removing all the previous cards verse having to distribute both at the same time.

We need soulbound rewards.

I know a lot of people have disagreed with this direction SL is taking the reward card but it is need for the health of the game in down markets. I know I was on plenty of servers beginning of the last summoner where people were talking about just selling everything and buying back in later. So they contributes to downward pressure on all the assets. They don't have the stress of the down market all they need is the people who want to earn or invest more to stay which a lot of those players stayed.

With the soulbound reward cards those people who left would have got to save some money but now they will be behind with reward cards. So say soulbound reward cards were already in the game when they stopped back in July. They be 7 months behind in reward cards and couldn't just buy those reward cards. So they'd would have had to stay and play which would have stop some of the selling of assets during the bear market.

This is where the play2earn model breaks down. There will be games they 10 - 100X during a bull market then fall apart in the bear. I guarantee the next bull market people will be complaining all over again about soulbound reward cards but other games will in the burn part of the flash in the pan before they disappear. Some will be able to survive the bear that follows the next bull but most will not. SL is setting it self up as a game and this need to be done for long term viability. The soon SL can stand as a game it's self the better, hopefully beating some of the big game studio coming to crypto gaming space.

Then we we add a strong game for SL with the crypto side SL is set for long term future growth and longevity.

What's changing?

As it stands right now this EoS on Jan 31st will be the last time non-soulbound cards will be in chests. It doesn't matter when you open your EoS they will only contain the older cards.
After Jan 31st all reward cards gain from any chest will be soulbound. The % chance to get a card is returning to 33%.

Here is a table of the percentage number of drop and rarity changes.

Percentage Numbers

New Abilities
Conscript
Conscript is a new ability which will be available on Summoners only, and when a Summoner with the Conscript ability is chosen, it will allow the player to use one more Gladiator card in the battle than normal.

Martyr
When a character with the Martyr ability dies in a battle, it gives adjacent characters +1 to all stat

Weapons Training
A character with the Weapons Training ability will "train" any adjacent characters with no attack, thereby giving them an attack of the same type as the character with the Weapons Training ability. The amount of attack that the Weapons Training ability gives to adjacent, no-attack characters, is still TBD based on initial play testing.

Number of cards

The new set of soulbound reward cards is planned to contain a total of 43 cards with the following breakdown of type, element, and rarity:

37 Monster cards

  • 6 Summoner cards (one from each element except Neutral)
  • 12 Legendary cards (two from each basic element, one Dragon, and one Neutral)
  • 7 Epic cards (one from each element)
  • 12 Rare cards (two from each basic element, one Dragon, and one Neutral)
  • 12 Common cards (two from each basic element and two Neutral)

Potions

Another addition is the ability to use potions when opening reward chests. Alchemy and Legendary potions will be used 1 of each per chest. This will be a setting that is turned on by default and can be changes in the settings. Legendary potions will not only double legendary chances for a legendary when opting reward chest it will also the chance of getting a epic card, this is only for reward chests and does not effect packs.

What is missing?

The only piece of the puzzle that we do not have yet is how many cards will come in each chest. Hopefully we'll get this information before Tuesday when EoS happens and we're going to start pulling reward cards. This will start to tell us how many of these soulbound reward cards will be in circulation and how long it will take to max out these cards for the different leagues.
Why does the number in circulation matter? Well as much as I do not want to see it, Aggy is pushing and far as we know it will happen after these cards go out of print you'll be able to burn DEC into them to be able unbind them and sell them, rent them, and trade them.
