SPS Governance Proposal - Halt All Tournaments for 2 months

Community Proposal #12

In an attempt at fairness we're going to also have a vote on the alternative proposal that was pitched before creating Community Proposal #11.

If this proposal passes, all Tournaments will stop for a period of 60 days from the date of the proposal passing. The community will continue to work on passing a proposal or multiple proposals to restructure Tournament formats, entry requirements and to apportion the prizes by format and card foil.

After 60 days from the date that this proposal passes, or earlier if a Tournament proposal is ratified more quickly, Tournaments will resume. Tournament prizes will be increased proportionally to the amount of rewards that were not distributed during the pause for the 60 days following Tournaments resuming.

If we fail to reach consensus and adequately restructure Tournaments after 60 days have passed, Tournaments will resume with double the normal rewards for a period of 60 days to ensure that current rewards distribution is met. Thanks for your time and consideration.

So there's no need to wonder, I support this proposal over Community Proposal #11.

Can you give an approximate time when proposals for tournament restructure will be live?

Going to run the new community proposal guidelines proposal today. If that passes I'll resume making community proposals. It seems like we've already narrowed down the first few options. Since we don't have multiple choice voting, it'll have to be run multiple proposals and see what gets the most support essentially, thus the need for the reworked community proposals so we're not just wasting DEC. I'll go make it now actually.

because it could harm the game considerably? if i take away half of the content from heaps of players and then make them look stupid in the ranking with their limited energy. and we also don't know how many cards are borrowed because of tournaments on the market. and what about new players who join in the meantime and look at the tournament section and don't see any tournaments there, except for the occasional casino ad with a few cents to be won?

I don't see this as accomplishing anything positive. It will disengage active people and make the game less interesting for new players. And because the rewards are going to be given out later anyway, there's no reason for those who blocked the last proposal to do anything but block this one and wait.

deactivating tournaments completely doesn't seem so healthy to me with the limited playing time we have. an edition is something completely different because people can still play other tournaments in the meantime.
but deactivating all tournaments is like turning off half the game, nobody can really want that. then we can directly deactivate spellbook sales for 2 months. and i don't even want to think about the effects on the rental market and co.

Dislike this proposal. Don't punish everyone because some people are upset with the 1%. I'd rather see things continue as status quo then shut it down altogether.
