I agree with you for the low income and engagement. I try to write long post and spend a lot of time to write them, but I don't really feel it is rewarded.
As you said, there's a lot of bots (won't criticize as I have one too), and engagement is low. Even when I try to engage on an interesting post, it is rare to have an answer. Or the answer does not really leave space for a discussion.
Maybe that's just the way it is. There are many communities, but it seems that the most and only really "bankable" subject is crypto/defi, here.

I also overdo my posts, and even if I know it is too long, I still post it. I tried writing short and down to a point, but it is not fun.
I don't think that crypto should entirely hog the scene, there are so many other nice things.
