Hello Friends,

Another new week brings another weekly challenge from Splinterlands and this time, we have a repeater in Wood Nymph as featured monster.
I am sure you guys are all accumulating the Chaos Legion packs from the Second pre-sale to qualify as much as possible for the Second airdrop involving 2 monsters!!!
Yes, the Second airdrop, as we know, will have Uriel the Purifier and Baakjira as the cards to be airdropped and both being tank healers, will be in demand and might give an alternative to those who couldn't buy Lord Arianthus or Gelatinous Cube as both will be with huge health.
Coming back to the Weekly challenge, here I go with the details of a battle I fought involving Wood Nymph for the challenge.

Wood Nymph is the magic monster from Rewards cards category from Earth splinter and I would say, it's one of the most used cards from the green splinter because of it's tank heal ability besides it's useful magic attack.

Stats:

The stats for this monster are impressive when it's leveled up to level 6 and above.
The magic attack starts with just 1 and doesn't move up until we upgrade it to level 8. Having said that, with new summoner from Chaos Legion people will find it more useful as the summoner gives +1 magic attack.
Speed also starts at 1, but increases to 2 from level 2 itself and further ends up at a maximum of 4 in it's 10 levels.
The health starts at 2 and can go upto 4, but this monster also has an ability Strengthen which will add +1 health to all the friendly monsters.
The abilities this monster provides are, tank heal from level 1, strengthen from level 6.

Battle and Lineup:

The battle had enough MANA cap of 50 and the rule sets were Spreading Fury (Enrage ability to all the monsters) and Noxious Fumes (poisoning all the monsters at the beginning of each round from round 2 onwards).
The rule set of Noxious Fumes prompted me to use Sacred Llama Mage summoner, which removes all negative effects including the poison and helps the front monster stay longer, so, keeping those points in mind, I used a lineup as below:

Lineup:

1. Lord Arianthus:

Whenever I see Noxious Fumes rule set, I use this monster at front position so as to reduce the health of magic monsters and also attack the melee attack monsters with thorns.

2. Pelacor Mercenary:

My usual Second position monster will be this Pelacor Mercenary for the Noxious Fumes battles as this can heal itself and also attack with good melee attack of 3 and also has good enough health of 13.

3. Gelatinous Cube:

The usual monster in Noxious Fumes battles used by most of the battlers who have this.
The reason is simple, it can keep healing itself, it can increase it's health whenever a monster dies and with last standing ability given by the summoner used, it can be undying unless it's afflicted in continuous rounds and have reduced health.

4. Kron The Undying:

Another monster for Noxious Fumes battles will be this Kron The Undying and as a last standing monster, it can be truly undying.

5. Wood Nymph:

The theme monster of the week, is a tank healer and gives magic attack of 2 and strengthens all friendly monsters.

6. Doctor Blight:

The last monster in my lineup and a regular one in most of the battles will be this Doctor Blight and it serves even better in the Noxious Fumes battles as it afflicts the front monster and keeps itself scavenging whenever a monster dies.

Opponent used Water Splinter and the monsters he lined up were Prismatic Energy, Djinn Oshannus, Sea Monster, Ruler of the Seas, Spirit Miner and Crustacean King.

Battle:

Round 1:

I win most of the Noxious Fumes battles as I go with Sacred Llama Mage summoner to heal the front monster to remove all the negative effects.
The monsters all used in this battle on either side had 3 or more health and hence, there was no monster got removed in this round although the Lord Arianthus I used was under attack to get it's health reduced considerably.

Round 2:

The poisoning was responsible for First monster's removal in the form of Rule of the Seas and then couple more followed it in this round in the form of Lord Arianthus and Spirit Miner
With the removal of Ruler of the Seas and Spirit Miner, opponent's monsters had reduced speed and I had the advantage of attacking First with many monsters.

Round 3:

Noxious Fumes claimed both the tank healers in this round with Wood Nymph and Crustacean King and further in the round, Prismatic Energy also got removed to reduce opponent's monster count to 2.

Round 4:

Djinn Oshannus was the only monster getting hit and due to poisoning it's health got reduced for just 1 and the poison in the next round, it will be the one to get removed.

Round 5:

With Djinn Oshannus getting removed even before First attack, Sea Monster's purpose wasn't served as it got removed before it could land it's First blow and that completed the battle!!

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

Well, most of the battles I fight with this summoner are wins for me and I use Sacred Llama Mage in such Noxious Fumes battles only.
The strategy of using 3 tank heal monsters was also a good thing for me as those could heal themselves and keep alive.

Do I like the WOOD NYMPH? Why or why not?

Hmm, frankly speaking, the Wood Nymph was the much used tank healer for me until Spirit of the Forest and Khmer Princess were introduced.
I still keep using this in Little League battles and I think it is still a good monster for less MANA cap battles.

Line.jpg

That is all I wanted to share about this battle and Wood Nymph will still hold a good place in many hearts of battlers because of it's useful 2 magic attack and also since it tank heals and strengthens all friendly monsters.
I continue to bring to you more such battles and I hope you will continue enjoy reading the same :)
Happy packs purchase and opening as we near the end of Second pre-sale :)

Thanks and Have a good day :)

Excellent write up and a decisive victory, I think Khmer Princess is better, it's true!

Thank you for 1UP, appreciate that.
Yes, Khmer Princess is better one with less MANA cost and additional ability of healing Second line monsters although my limited summoner restricts the additional ability.
Thanks to @oneup-cartel and supporting communities :), this is a nice idea.
