Splinterlands | Leveling 5 More Cards To Max Gold Level

avatar

Even though I'm not that hyped on Land (See Reasons I'm mostly Skipping The Land Expansion), I am still very much enjoying Splinterlands as a cards game expanding my collection mostly just because I really want to play with specific cards. I have used some earnings from the game to buy and Level Up These cards...

The fact that I want to get more cards and level them up despite knowing it's by no means the most thing to do when just looking at the potential returns during a time where I'm actually kind of slowly scaling out makes me optimistic about Splinterlands as a game. Playing the game and collecting cards getting better is just fun and that alone is enough to make me pull the trigger on leveling some of the cards to a point where they are maxed out for Gold League making me a bit more competitive.

Game Earnings as Funds
While I sold 9 Plots only keeping one and using the money from that to buy some more coins from Openbetai.io (See Cost-Averaging OPENBET), I continue to stake all the SPS I'm earning. I did use various sources of splinterlands income to fund the buys of these new cards

  • Blogging earnings: as they remain the best and most reliable way to get funds to reinvest into the game
  • Burning Gold Foil Gladius Cards: I got quite some DEC from buring some Rare Gold Foil Gladius cards that I got over time from the Guild Brawls. Each of those are worth 2000 DEC and they certainly add up. I'm keeping the regular foil cards to play with.
  • Rental Earnings: These have become a bit harder now with the 1 DEC Listing fee but continue to be a good source to get funds to buy more cards.
  • GLX Airdrop: Having quite some SPS staked which most of it I earned since it was released gives quite some GLX airdrop still. It is still in a cycle where the price goes down as more gets minted since the staking returns are also decreasing. As long as this is the case and there isn't much utility for it, I will continue to sell.

New Leveled Up Cards

General Sloan Level 5 -> Level 6

This is the cheapest Chaos Legion Rare Summoner and the last one that I needed to get from Level 5 to Level 6. The problem now is that I also like to use the beta Tyrus Paladium Summoner which I only have at level 5 right now and I want to get that one also to level 6 as the increased stats and abilities from some of the cards are quite big. I paid around 0.73$ for each of the cards that I still needed to get it up to Level 6.

Cruel Sethropod Level 6 -> Level 8

The difference between level 6 (100 BCX) and Level 8 (220 BCX) is more than double and arguably not worth it for the +1 Health and +1 Armor, but the card is so affordable that it was quite easy to go for it. The stats for the 3 mana cost are just really good especially in some specific game rules and I use the card occasionally.

Merdaali Guardian Level 5 -> Level 6

This is another cards that I use all the time in combination with The Kraken as my main tank for the Water team. Getting it from Level 5 to level 6 required 20 more cards and I think that I paid on average 0.37$ for those. It just gets 1 Health extra which isn't that massive of a deal but it keeps it alive 1 more turn in case it gets poison.

Hill Giant Level 6 -> Level 8

This is one of those cards that I actually used occasionally as a tank for a low mana Earth team, the difference from level 6 to level 8 is quite big with 1 extra health and 1 extra speed which for sure will help to turn previously losing battles in now winning battles. It however did get less strong in game rules with reverse speed rules. This also is a pretty cheap card in general so it was quite easy to upgrade.

Riftwing Level 6 -> Level 8

This is one of those cards that I rarely use right now but it does kind of fit into a Death or Dragon Speed deck which I generally enjoy playing. Getting the Headwind ability to reduce the ranged damage of the opponent is quite useful even though that came at the cost of 1 health from level 7 to level 8. Cardw ith the Fyl ability are always useful as you really need them in the Earthquake game rule and also with the introduction of the weapons training ability, it became a lot stronger and it will continue as more of those cards gets introduced.

Upcoming Buys Priority List
There are still quite some cards that I want but am hesitant to either combine killing value of level 1 cards that I own (especially the Water Elemental) while others I really feel often times that I just need them. These are the Daria Dragonscale & Tyrus Paladium summoners. So those are quite high on my priority list to get next . I also want to get the Nectar Queen at least 1 level higher as extra health for a tank is always useful and need to get my Wave Brood from Level 3 to Level 4 which currently would cost around 20$ which for me is just a bit too expensive right now even though the extra ability make the card a lot stronger. Those are the main cards that I'm keeping my eye on and am saving up for and I hope to have added some of them in the next update post.

Conclusion

I'm still having a lot of fun playing Splinterlands and prices right now for cards don't feel overpriced. For those reasons along with the fact that it's just fun collecting more, I continue to buy more cards and level them up to make them stronger. There are still a lot more that I want and my aim is to keep blogging and use those earnings to fund these purchases and upgrades...
