Bearish Sentiments are Dominating the Card Market

None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.

The price of Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers cards is leaving asset holders reeling. It could possibly fall further and this is coming after a boomlet in pricing fueled by the demands of owning Land and the end of the tradeable Rewards cards being in-print. This is a rough time to be a seller and an intriguing time to be a buyer.

Welcome to Chaos Legion Hell

With 3,149,000 packs that are unopened and circulating, card rarity within Chaos Legion is going to be hard to come by, even if used on Land. With Splinterlands contracting the player base and bot farms exiting, it's a case of oversupply for a market that is still wanting in demand. Prices of Chaos Legion packs have fallen considerably, fetching a sad $1.77 on Hive Engine.

Summoners are Falling Flat

image.png

General Sloan in its Regular Foil form fell to 59.8 cents per BCX today, which is wild to consider. How a04 was able to sell this card at that price is unknown, but it happened. Troughs on a per card level from the Christmas lull are now the price resistance.

But this unpopular summoner is not the only one to be suffering this cruel fate.

Obsidian, welcome back to the Dollar Menu!

image.png

A large $1.025 wall is being formed for Obsidian forming a wall of resistance for Obsidian and creating downward pressure.

Gets worse, check this out.

Ever thought you'd see these prices?

Up is down and left is right in the Gold Foil market. Gold Foil Chaos Knight is below 40 cents and was even 38.4 cents yesterday. It's cheaper than a Gold Foil Sunkai Harvester and Gold Foil Radiated Scorcher. Try to make sense of this. You can't.

On what planet is a Gold Foil Silent Sha-vi 51.5 cents per card? This one. How is it that a Gold Foil Disintegrator holds more value price-wise than Gold Foil Stitch Leech and Silent Sha-vi?

These are All-Time Lows for both cards and if you want to get in, maybe it is a good idea, but many would not be mistaken for wanting to see the price falls some more. After all, nobody wants to catch a falling knife.

image.png

When it comes to Cursed Windeku above, the Gold Foil form of this card fell below $3 per card, which was an All-Time Low. It was gobbled up quickly and rose back to the natural resistance point that is roughly around $3.10. On per BCX basis, the card is still below $3.

image.png

Gold Foil Epics have generally fallen to the March pricing. Here's an example of the Gold Foil Nerissa Tridawn.

image.png

There's clear support where the prices are, but it can run down to $10 or lower. It presently is $11.40 per card and per BCX. It is not at the pricing that it faced in early January, which was an astonishing $6.08 per card. It's not All-Time Lows here, but these cards are feeling the effects of the card values falling.

But, what about Legendaries?

Astral Entity

All-Time Lows here.

Grandmaster Rathe

image.png

Testing a support level that comes off an All-Time Low.

image.png

For the Gold Foil version of Grandmaster Rathe, $100 serves as resistance here. It's not at All-Time Lows.

Corpse Fiend

image.png

Hit All-Time Lows with the Regular Foil version of Corpse Fiend on a per card and per BCX basis.

However, the story is different with the Gold Foil version, but it may be setting up for a possible drop further.

image.png

A few weeks ago, this is a card that hit All-Time Highs and is now coming off those highs. If the price falls below $60, look out below. It may have enough downward momentum to crash into the $40 support.

This is just a sampling and we'll be looking at more cards from a technical perspective and sorting out where things are.

Take care of yourselves and each other.
