Hey friends,

This is my first post from this account which is going to be all about crypto and gaming.

I plan on using this account for a few games in the future but for right now my focus is on splinterlands!

If you haven’t already signed up here’s the link to get started. I’ll be explaining some of that in the video as well.

Also make sure to follow the official @splinterlands blog on hive to know about the updates as soon as they come out.

So what is Splinterlands?

It’s a block chain based game where every card is a NFT. Each NFT can be used in multiple ways:

Playing:

You can use these cards to play against other cards which is the main use players get out of them. When you get further in the game you will need to level these cards up by combining them together. When you combine them together they get new abilities, they get stronger, and they get faster, etc..

Renting:

Just like with card games in real life have you ever asked yourself “I could have a much better shot in this tournament if only I had a couple of cards that I could use or borrow for just one day while I play the tournament?“ Just like with card games in real life each card in splinterlands can be rented out on the marketplace to other players! You can set your own prices and basically just login every day to see your DEC going up. We’ll cover DEC down below.

Delegating:

Have you ever wanted to let your friend borrow some of your cards or maybe borrow some cards from somebody you know? Well the cards in this game allow you to delegate them to other accounts. This means you can let your friends play with your cards so they can level up and build up a collection for themselves! Maybe you want to play with the cards for a bit yourself? You also have full control over when you want to stop delegating the cards which we will cover in the video.

What's this about DEC?

DEC stands for dark energy crystals. This is the currency that is used inside the game just like Gil or tokens from other games we’re all familiar with. But unlike Gil or World of Warcraft gold this currency can be traded for other crypto‘s in the crypto markets!

Every time you win you get some of this currency

And that’s what makes this game so special. Not only can you use this currency to buy other cards, buy potions, and rent out other peoples cards; but you can transfer DEC out of the game and buy any crypto you want, even bitcoin! The higher you go in the ranking the more DEC you get.

Yeah but how do you actually play?

Ok when you click battle you will see the enemy found screen. From there you create a team and you have three minutes to choose what your team will consist of. First you choose a summoner which grants powers to everybody on the team. Then you choose the monsters that will make up your team. When you click ready you will see a screen where your cards will face off and hit each other until one teams cards are completely dead. This might be a rough explanation of what happens so I encourage you to watch the video (where I lose twice lol) and just get in and start playing!

I’m also going to be doing an experiment where I live stream my splinter lands journey so others can follow along and if you’re interested in being notified about that make sure you follow me on the social media links below.
