The Disintegrator: A Melee Melter

Hello Splintertalkers and welcome to another #Splinterlands write up. This week we will be exploring how to use the toxic terror, the deadly debuffer, The Disintegrator! This card offers good stats at lvl 1 and is a spellbook default (Seen Below) Including intimidating melee opponents causing them to have a -1 melee attack reduction. In all melee or when anticipating a lot of melee attacks this can can be very valuable, even if not able to attack AND at lvl 1.

Strategy and Placement

In the battle located here the Disintegrator was placed in position 2 as a secondary tank and debuffer. Ideally you place this card and it CAN attack, however it's debuff can be worth it being unable to melee attack The rest of my lineup consisted of tank heal (divine healer), armor up, and a rather deadly assassin sneaking it's poison into my opponent's backline.

The opponent had a notorious water lineup in both low, mid, and high lvl play. Boasting the Deeplurker and various sneak cards my backline was going to take a licking. However, here is where the beauty of sustain and the utility of Chanseus kicks into overdrive.

Each turn armor up and triage heal Silvershield Assassin to full hp and armor. This and the revived chicken cannon fodder absorbing the blows from Deep Lurker leads to the enemy backline being whittled down too fast and the enemy triage is quickly dispatched. The rest of the backline proceeds to be bombarded by sneak until nothing remains. This victory was caused by the debuff granted by disintegrator. A reduction of 4 damage across 4 melee units that won the game. This reduced enemy damage to the degree that my lineup's support abilities were able to outlast the barrage.

Talking Tidbits: Melee Debuffs

Debuffs are a key part of gameplay in Splinterlands, ranging from speed to damage to armor debuffs. In the case of the Disintegrator, it is especially strong as it is a neutral card playable with any faction that grants -1 to all enemy melee units at lvl 1. Expect to see him a lot in the coming meta as he is a very good card available to everyone (included in the spellbook). At later lvls this card gains an excellent combination of abilities and is a predicted future staple of the modern format.
