RE: Investing in Splinterlands : Day 10... Getting ready for Chaos meta

Sounds like your three man with a plan. I just started playing a month ago and investing in DEC and SPS this week. It’s kind of frustrating because there are no packs to buy yet, no land, no dice, and the daily challenges only reward coin. I feel like I’ll be stuck in bronze 3 forever:). At least I can follow you.

Any advice?

I could drone on and on about how I'm trying to make money from the game and little tips I've found but that's not the advice I'd give right now.

I totally understand about feeling stuck and wanting to break out of bronze 3. My main account is stuck at Gold 3 but I usually have enough ranking to be Gold I. The problem...its so very expensive to get the power needed to rank up!

Bronze 3 is a brutal place. Battle hard to get a reward chest and then get credits :(. Now credits CAN be used to purchase cards but you need an insane amount.

As for advice?

  1. Enjoy the game and look at how it works, especially learn from every loss so you can make it a win for you in the future.
  2. Don't get lured in by the hype and think very carefully about buying packs. A typical CHAOS pack will cost $4 (plus voucher) but your average reward will be 4 common (20 cents) and 1 rare (60 cents) or a value of $1.40. There is the chance of legendary, epic, gold cards etc but the odds aren't in your favor.
  3. Be careful about buying cards now. The entire game will change when they will be having two leagues (Classic vs Untamed/Chaos). Buying older cards means they could become useless if your competing in the Chaos league.

What am I focusing on?

  1. Finding ways to make money from the game (and enjoying it). Work splintertalk for the SPT. Work the Airdrop, Work the SPS staking, sell those vouchers, etc.
  2. Look for underappreciated cards that could become more valuable when Chaos comes out. Venari Heatsmith, Chainspinner, and Naga Assassin are a few I think have potential.
  3. Get good at moving tokens and crypto between game, exchanges, and cash. I've been making sure I can get my money both in and OUT. Also trying to figure out how to move things like land, totems, card packs and such back and forth is useful so as I can afford them I know how to use them.

Other advice?

Try not to get discouraged, its easy to lose battles and want to give up (It took me 23 battles to get my daily reward today in Death Splinter).

Pick a couple of splinters and focus on them. Its very expensive to be good at every splinter so be good at a couple so you can win more battles :) Dragon and Neutral are your friends because they can be used to augment any splinter. If I get stuck with an earth/fire splinter where I'm weak my lineup can be almost entirely neutral.

Last piece of advice: Don't aim too high to start. My free to play account only has bronze level summoners/cards and only useful in water/life splinters. However, I often battle to Silver II or Silver I ranking. Then at the end of the season I have some awesome guildmates which lend me a bit of power so I can get a better season end bonus.

Happy hunting
...and if you need specific advice let me know. I may not be able to help but I'll certainly try.
