Do You See More Soul-Bound Cards In Battle? Here is Why

avatar

This Weeks challenge is one that I tend to use a lot anyway by picking monsters that have a thorns attack as part of their ability stack, putting one at the front for melee damage and at the back line to handle the sneakers.

Even If you Have the Best Planned Team You Can Still Lose Opponents Team Looks Stronger.

Side Note: In Briar Patch avoid using double strike melee attacks they end badly Watch The Battle

Play This Ruleset

The Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge is back in action, and the theme I am highlighting is: - Briar Patch My thinking is to avoid any melee attacks or use lots of Armour - my mind goes yeah Chain Golem that guy has void and Armour and piercing, I need to slow his magic and ranged, well it turns out we also have no neutrals, OK so what I went for is the Unicorn Mustang backed by the Orc Sargent

Things to Consider

  • So this rule set makes you think no melee and then you think what next, and that is magic or range. To counter this pick a magic limiting tank if Possible.
  • Now if you are going to use a Melee monster have one with Armour as the thorns will hit the Armour first and also make your melee attacks count, so boost it with "inspire" if you can get away with it.
  • Then to support the Melee Attack make sure you have a monster that will repair the Armour, I had that in mind but had to switch my tank out as the clock was running down.
  • Summoner is always an important choice and in a higher mana game you can select a legendary summoner (if you have them) I have a few but not many. I went with my Wizard of Eastwood This will help my Melee monster hits count as well as any thorns damage I give out.

My Opponent Has an Awesome Soulbound Tank In the Second Spot

So You have to admire my opponent's front line, designed to soak up damage like a sponge, I wish I had this Iziar Card and at Level 2, this gives him Taunt and 14 health points, and next to him he puts his Djinn Renova to triage any damage the Iziar takes, Genius and I take my hat off to him.

Then his lineup falls apart as his next three monsters are melee sneakers and opportunity attackers, they are going to die fast to thorns.

So we both make the same mistake as that is the healed-out part of the rule set, on my part, I select the Wood Nymph and his Djinn Renova at least Wood Nymph gives all friendly monsters an extra life point and so does the Renova.

My Iza the Fanged plays a big part in this battle with the stun stopping a lot of damage on my team, the other guy in the back spot Barking Spider I picked for the high health plus the blind ability

Battle Details

You're looking at one of the toughest rule sets I have seen for a long time, Healed Out, Briar Patch and Taking Sides Medium Mana at 35 and Three Splinters to choose from Earth, Life and Death.

I want my Chain Golem for this match but it's not to be as Taking Sides So in a rush, I change him for the Unicorn Mustang

If you have been reading some of my battle strategies on my post you might know that I favour a balanced approach in team selection as opposed to all out on any one attack method, so I have strong melee in the first two spots, then two magic monsters and followed up with two ranged attacks at the rear.

How Did The Battle Play Out?

We will for sure start to see more and more soul-bounds entering the battlefield in the coming months and this battle is one of those, if it wasn't for the Healed Out, I am not sure if I had the firepower to take that guy down. The first thing to note was the summoners cancelled each other out, in my favour, this means that his monsters will die faster as he lost all Armour for his team.

Round one was kind of even and no loss of life from either side, Round two sees the loss of his silver-shied assassin and my barking spider, two health scavenges come in, and then the same happens to the celestial harpy and my wood nymph another two scavenger points for Iza, even as it goes. Round three see the death of his Iziar (thanks to another stun saved my Unicorn Mustang) and also his Pelacore Conjuror I took that round, and again another stun save me and the game is over.

Learning Points

The thing that showed up in this battle was the stun ability from my Iza the fanged watch the battle and you will notice that this triggers three times in all and each time it saves me from taking a killing blow, so I was pretty happy that I had her in my team, plus the scavenger ability saved her from the powerful stitch leech sneaker
