Burn, Baby, Burn Cinder and the New Splinterlands Land Meta

Alright, folks, let's talk about this Land Card Edition thingamajig. Now, I gotta be upfront, I'm not a Land kinda guy. Give me a good brawl, a ranked battle that's where I get my thrills. Land? It's just not my cup of tea.

But, I got a buddy, you all know him, big cheese in the Land game. Let's just say he owns enough Flesh Golems to start his own golem army. He's all in on this Land stuff, and he's been bending my ear about these Land Cards. So, figured I'd finally take a look, ya know? Maybe there's something to this whole dirt-farming business after all.

So what are Land Cards? Well, this initial "Inaugural Land Card Edition" is a bit of a proof of concept from Splinterlands. It's kinda like testing the waters before they unleash a tidal wave of new Land stuff. They are testing player interest, and balance.

This edition comes with a few shiny new toys:

  • Cards Crafted from Land Resources: So, you take the stuff you produce on your land, and turn it into cards. Interesting
  • Cinder: Burn baby burn! You burn existing cards (the ones with DEC burn value, not the soulbound ones) to get this new resource called Cinder. It's a way to get rid of excess cards with extra steps. Cinder = 1.5 * CP of the burned card
  • Land-Only Cards: These cards don't play in ranked battles; they are Land WORKERS. They only work on Land.
  • Labor's Luck Treasure: you might get Gold Foil or Black Foil cards.

There's one card for each rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary. Think of it like a limited-edition set, see?

RarityTotal Copies
Common100,000
Rare18,000
Epic6,000
Legendary1,000

Allocation Rights

Here's where it gets a little spicy. A snapshot was taken on November 18th of everyone's staked Base PP on Land. Based on that snapshot, players got allocation rights to craft this set.

  • Allocation Rights are soulbound
  • Rights are only valid for 3 days only

Cinder - Burn Baby Burn

This Cinder thing is the key to crafting these Land Cards. Cinder comes from burning unlocked cards with DEC burn value. Soulbound cards and Glint / Merit cards don't give you any Cinder, so don't bother trying. Cinder = 1.5 times the CP value of the card you burn.

What These Cards DO

These Land Cards affect pretty much everything on your land:

  • Production Bonuses: Bountiful Grain/Wood/Stone/Iron/Aura: Just what it sounds. Helps production
  • Bloodline bonuses: Toil and Kin: Production boost if you get the right bloodline.
  • Staking bonuses: Dark Discount: Reduce DEC staking costs
  • Power bonuses: Energized: Acts like a Power Core
  • Grain bonuses: Rationing: Reduces grain consumption.
  • Treasure bonuses: Labor’s Luck!

Important note: Same abilities don't stack. Take the best one and ignore the smaller ones.

Labor's Luck - Treasure Hunt!

Labor's Luck is the only way to get Gold Foil (GF), Black Foil (BF), Gold Foil Arcane (GFA), or Black Foil Arcane (BFA) versions of these Land Cards. They are hidden "totem fragments" for a limited time, like it's described in the Land whitepaper

Odds will be determined one week after release. The chances of finding foil cards depend on your production power and how many cards with this Labor’s Luck ability.

Gotta Keep it capped!

Gold Overcap Rule: Land cards won't give extra PP beyond the 100k cap. BUT if a plot already has 100k, adding another Land Card still gives you its abilities.

So, there you have it. The Land Card Edition in a nutshell. Still not sure I'm ready to ditch the battle arena for a virtual farm, but hey, maybe this will spice things up for my Land-loving buddy and the rest of you landowners. Good luck and happy crafting!

This was undoubtedly the option many of us were waiting for to try and resolve the issue of the Chaos Legion card glut. I hope this event is a success and that we can see a market recovery in the medium and long term. Best regards.

This guy you've mentioned sounds almost non-credibly handsome and talented.
NB: Soulkeep assets are also going to be burnable for Cinder. They may be locked, so request unlock now to avoid a wait.
