A ZenSports Pigeon Classic Tournament Story

So I just wanted to share a short story about the recent ZenSports Pigeon Classic Tournament. In the Philippines, the tournament started at about 12 midnight on November 7, so it was already pretty late for me. @rentaw03 was streaming at the time, and he was doing more giveaways than actually playing Splinterlands, as usual 😂

I was excited for the tournament since I have been hanging around the #nosleepgang Twitch Streamers, and one of our streamers @luthien12 was one of the qualifiers. We really wanted to show our support, along with all the other players, and watch some good matches.

Big shoutout to @drabs587 for doing a good job hosting along with @aggroed and @tanzofett. We will never forget all the puns and commentary during the match with onefapman. 😂

Anyway, during the tournament, they announced that they had a goal of accepting donations for Child's Play, which is a charity that dedicates itself to giving children's hospitals access to gaming consoles, that they wouldn't normally have a budget for. Even if there wasn't a Beta Pack raffle, I still wanted to give a little bit to show my support.

Being a gamer, I strongly support this mission because I really believe that video games have helped me a lot in critical thinking, process learning, and problem solving. I really wish that I had a lot more money to donate to this cause, because I really feel that 40 years from now, when I finally retire, I would definitely want to spend the rest of my days playing video games with my kids and grandkids.

In any case, I actually fell asleep at my computer during the tournament right after Round 3. It was about 2AM then and decided to call it a night and shut everything off.

When I woke up, I received a few tags on discord congratulating me for some reason. I decided to hop on my computer and hang out in someone's stream. When they were congratulating me still, I had to ask what happened during the tournament and they said that I won a Beta pack during the raffle for my little donation! I logged in and saw it! In my excitement I failed to screencap it, but here's the evidence!

It is unbelievable, to say the least, to think that a small donation would be rewarded with a Beta Pack. I'm still not sure what I'm doing with this, but I'm definitely gonna pay it forward to the Splinterlands community as much as I can.

In my experience, the No Sleep Gang streamers, along with the OGs @gank and @clove71 have shown nothing but love and support to ALL the players in the game. I have hung out in their streams and they are just amazing people that show their love for the game and this community. They really give everyone great advice not only on gameplay but also on managing resources. Despite their success stories with the game, they remain humble and really just want the Splinterlands community to grow together as this game evolves into one of the gems that we will be teaching generations of players to come.

(PS: thank you Clove for the random SPS giveaway during the earlier part of the tourney, it'll go back to the community, I promise)

I just really wanted to share this story since I am currently so frustrated at the connectivity of my ISP at the moment and I couldn't get a good continuous stream due to their poor service. Hopefully, I'll get everything sorted out and I can get back online and get the giveaways going on Twitch! I am so lucky to be part of this wonderful community of people, and it's really changed my standards for what a gaming community SHOULD BE. They have all inspired me to become kind and welcoming to new players, as we should.

Special shout out to @holoz0r for delegating me some RC so I could actually post this blog! Without him, my feelings would be forever trapped in the void of my mind and would probably not resurface again 😅 Follow holoz0r on Twitch here!

Well, that's the end of my story and if you're still here reading this, thank you for taking the time to get all the way to the end.

I sincerely hope this short story inspires you to be kind and pay it forward too. 😁

Good luck, and may your rewards chests always contain gold foil legendaries.

<3 this was an amazing read and tons of feel good involved. It just goes to show you all the little things matter. And I also share this dream of yours to one day be able to just game with kids/grandkids that actually allowed me to think towards a better future and to have more things to aspire to.

Keep strong and keep on fighting for your dreams to be a reality. You got this bro.

Yup, it's about time that we all change the stigma that video games are bad for you and playing video games all day will not get you anywhere. Maybe in foreign countries it's not so bad anymore, but in most Asian countries a lot of the older generations still don't understand the advantages that technology can have on a developing kid's brain! Cheers to hoping for a brighter, more video-game-filled future!
