Beginner Strategy: Rent To Win in Silver 3

Hello! So for today's strategy guide I'm going to discuss how to rent efficiently to stay in Silver 3 and still make a profit!

Why not just discuss rental strategies in Bronze League?

Well, based on my experience, I think staying in Silver 3 with rentals is a lot more profitable than non-renting in Bronze 2. Of course this is based on your ultimate goals for the game and the time (and money) you're willing to invest in the game, but let's just assume that majority of the users are non-whales and as close as putting out money for the spellbook only. It is quite a big gap to get power in Bronze 2 vs Silver 3 in terms of BUYING cards.

So my goal for this strategy guide is to help out new players, especially those who are going to be joining in when Chaos Legion drops on December 8. There's really not a lot of time from now until then, and since the end of season is fast approaching, this will be a good starting point for some of the newer players out there to try their hand at experiencing better rewards at Silver 3.

Let's compare Bronze 2 and Silver 3 accounts:

Bronze 2Silver 3
CP requirement100015000
Average DEC earnings per win *less than 14-5
skill necessary to winmagic spam 🙄a little more brain power
DQ rewards1 chest, 30% card2 chest, 50% card
renting stress during EOSnegligiblepretty high
DEC income based on 10 wins/day **20 DEC50 DEC

*To be conservative, I took the average of DEC earnings during EOS. You'll definitely earn more at the start of the season.
**I averaged 10 wins per day on the assumption that you play 20 games per day and win at least 50% of those.

Based on these numbers, this means that to rent for Silver 3, we have a 50 DEC budget to rent cards that will give us at least 15k power. Sounds impossible? Let me show you the way.

Renting made easy via Peakmonsters

@peakmosnters has made some amazing updates in the past few months, which makes renting super easy and ~automated, as long as you have some DEC in your account balance.

Step 1 - Setup the correct filters on the right-side toolbar

image.png

You may be wondering, "why would I need Max Level cards in Silver league"? Well, we're renting these cards for power. Renting these cards for power will give you the best CP/DEC cost, and stressing out over renting 1 card vs multiple cards that can be canceled anytime during EOS can help prevent a nervous breakdown.

Just a word of advice - I suggest renting these cards at the beginning of the season, while rewards are high and rentals are cheap. (But again, it's just a suggestion)

Step 2 - Filter the results by Best Price

image.png

You can filter the results easily by clicking on "Best Price". You can also see how much potential CP you're going to get by reading the Level/CP tab right next to it. In this case, we can rent an Alpha Peacebringer at Level 8 (which is max for a rare) for 45 DEC/day. If the rent is successful, we'll be adding a whopping 10,836 CP! You can also check the right most column for CP/DEC to see how much CP you're getting for every DEC you spend. It's a good way to see if your rentals are within your renting budget.

Here's a quick cheat sheet of the MAX level CPs that would get you into Silver 3.

EditionCommon CPRare CP
Alpha1193810836
Promo1590814490
Beta*79547245

*I included the beta CP in case you need some other options, but take note that you'd approximately need to rent 2 x Beta cards to get to Silver 3.

Step 3 - And you're done! ... "But wait, rentals are always sniped from me, help!"

Ok, since you asked nicely, Peakmonsters has a bidding feature on rentals too!

image.png

When you click on Bid, you'll be prompted with this popup, which is pretty self-explanatory.

image.png

For price, you can put in your budget per day. Once you submit, you should be able to see it in the Active table under "Current Bids". You can also see the Recently Filled table to check if your bid is too high or too low. In the given example, 20 DEC / day for a MAX level Alpha card hasn't been filled, which means there is no one renting their card out for 20 DEC / day.

Step 4 - After bidding, sit back and wait.

The bids don't fill in automatically - they get fulfilled as soon as there is a card available in the market that matches your bid. So if you've waited for a few hours and no new rentals have come in, then it's probably best to change your bid.

NOTE: Once the bid is fulfilled, the bid will automatically charge TWO DAYS worth of rentals, so make sure you have enough DEC in your balance for this. Also, as long as you keep your bid active, Peakmonsters will continue to rent for you in case you forget to renew your rentals or if it gets canceled on you.

Final Thoughts

As Chaos Legion is fast approaching, I thought I'd let people know about this strategy, especially for newer players who want to experience a little more of a brain challenge than the typical magic spam / anti-magic build that is very prevalent in Bronze 2. The goal of this game is not to rush in and compete in the Champion League (although you can if you want to). If you're a small player on a budget (like me), who still enjoys this strategy game and is in it for the long haul, then maximize your DEC profits every day and slowly build up your collection.

Of course, it's still up to you whether you want to rent or not. I currently have 2 alt accounts, one in Silver 3 (~1800 rating, using said rent strategy) and Bronze 2 (~1000 rating, rent-free) that are getting by and farming DEC / cards / potions every day. Both earn approximately the same DEC amount per day, but the true gems lie in the daily chests. Farming daily chests for a 50% chance at a card just feels better than getting credits after finishing that Fire Quest against 10 magic spammers in a row.

I hope that this strategy guide has helped you develop an interest and appreciation for the depth of this game.

Good luck, and may your rewards chests always contain gold foil legendaries.
