New Reveals In Mav Channel

There was some BIG news in the mav channel last night. cryptomancer revealed the stats of 2 summoners and an epic card from Chaos Legion packs! And let me just say, it looks like fire just got better and Obsidian could be the new Alric. Buckle in, because Chaos Legion looks like it's going to be crazy.

First Reveal: Obsidian

Let's take a moment to appreciate the truly stunning art work. Scroll back up. Look it over. Soak it in.

Okay moment taken. Earth with +1 Magic??? Also it costs 4 (we'll get to this later), which makes me think the devs got a bit tired of magic dominating. Hold on to your Djinn Biljka, his stock just went up. Already he's being snatched up at increasingly high prices, and it's clear why. A 2 magic 2 health card that can't be targeted and costs 3? Sign me up. I also think Centauri Mage and Wood Nymph just became more valuable for the modern format. Kron? Well, I think he'll be pretty unaffected; he's already worth $350+. Obsidian is definitely worse than Malric, but she could have some nice characters behind her, and it will certainly be interesting to see Earth with +1 Magic. I personally loaded up on a few Centauri Mage and hope to get Obsidian from a pack, if only for that incredible artwork.

Second Reveal: Tarsa

Turns out, she is not giving fire +1 magic, though her artwork certainly seemed that way. No, instead she is the combination of Malric and Pyre for the extra cost of 1 mana. Looks like fire has a little more fight in it, and that's not just coming from Yodin now. This summoner looks incredible for a 4 cost, and I'm excited to see what new melee troops she can help support. I think fire melee as a whole might see a little uptick in price after this. And I'd sell your Pyre and Malric ASAP (but also please buy my Malric). Although Pyre and Malric will soon be out of our free spellbooks, I don't think that will save their price, as Tarsa is just better. Maybe someone will whip out Malric in a 12 cost game, but otherwise that extra mana isn't helping enough.

Third Reveal: Hunter Jarx

A 6 cost 3 damage ranged sniper? That's almost a lvl 5 Mantoid at lvl 1, and you can be sure it'll only get better. It's an epic, and definitely the best epic we've seen from Chaos Legion so far. He's making Centauri Mage look like an even better buy, by the way; return fire will definitely be nice to hit him back with. The back of these Chaos Legion cards is looking so nice as well, I really can't get over the artwork. I'm sure this means we'll have some other interesting summoners for Earth that might complement his skill set better; Obsidian doesn't seem like the best summoner for him.

Fourth Reveal? Summoners will cost 4

So, we got some more news about Chaos legion summoners: they will all be 4 mana, at least the non legendary ones. This is an interesting change, and could cause a shift to buying some cheaper card for low cost games? I'm really not sure what effect this will have, but I'm pretty sure it will have one haha. Comment below if you have any ideas.

Final Thoughts

If you are trying to buy for the modern format, which should be coming out very soon, make sure to buy cards that work for it. That means cards that are untamed or one of the Chaos Legion rewards. This can be seen from their artwork (Untamed have the outline shown below) or the CP. Untamed cards and its associated reward cards have 10 CP for common, 40 CP for rare, 200 CP for epic, and 1000 CP for legendary.
