There are burn mechanics. In the past the mini editions like DICE were bought exclusively with DEC and that DEC was burned. Those are sold out long ago ... there are some others, like guilds updates, skins etc... in the last year DEC is getting its value more from the SPS pools

Dear @dalz.shorts, sorry to jump in a bit off topic but may I ask you to support the HiveSQL proposal? It lost its funding recently and your help would be much appreciated to keep the HiveSQL service free for the Hive community. You can do it on Peakd, Ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
You think it will be stable soon again?
it is if you purchase packs with it :D 4000 dec for 4$ pack
I bet DEC will become cheap within two weeks after the SPS Airdrop has ended.
it will go to ZERO!
more interesting is what happens to card values and the rent market. could bust both if it collapses.
Nah, the cards are pretty SAFU. People play the game, that's a fact.
My logic too ( and it's what i do), but the rental market is a big part too.
Less return can hammer newer cards, i think older ( out of print) are good.
But these are short to midterm swings IMO.
Since the launch of SPS, DEC is getting most of its value from that token and those pools. So if SPS goes up, so will DEC
Is there some burn mechanic like purchase packs?
Or is a pack purchase simply a transfer?

future model will be very interesting.
Some time ago aggroed / Splinterlands posted something to replace dec with SPS with some time.
First SPS rewards for games into something like that.
Not sure if it was only an idea or an actual plan.
Why the hell is it going up like that - I thought it was supposed to slow down as the price drops?
I'm kinda wondering the same.
