This week we have an analysis of one of my favourite skills. An ability that gives a strong advantage to one of the three attack types that exist in the Splinterlands universe. Those cards that have a ranged attack and have the ability analysed this week get an important advantage This week we are talking about the Close Range ability. And for that, we explain it with a neutral card like Gargoya Devil. Let's get started.

Esta semana tenemos análisis de una de las habilidades que más me gustan. Una habilidad que da una fuerte ventaja a uno de los tres tipos de ataque que existen en el universo Splinterlands. Aquellas cartas que tienen ataque a distancia y cuentan con la habilidad analizada esta semana obtienen una importante ventaja. Hablamos, esta semana, de la habilidad Close Range. Y, para ello, la explicamos con una carta neutral como Gargoya Devil. Comenzamos.

Gargoya Devil is one of the cards with Close Range. It is a rare card in the neutral deck and features ranged attack. For the analysis I use a level four card that has three points of ranged attack, three points of speed and life, and one point of shield. Also, as special abilities, in addition to Close Range it has Flying and Death Blow. At level 4 Gargoya Devil is a card to consider and can give us a lot of joy thanks to those three special abilities.

Gargoya Devil es una de las cartas que cuentan con Close Range. Se trata de una carta rara del mazo neutral y que cuenta con ataque a distancia. Para el análisis utilizo una carta de nivel cuatro que cuenta con tres puntos de ataque a distancia, tres puntos de velocidad y vida y un punto de escudo. Además, como habilidades especiales, además de Close Range cuenta con Flying y Death Blow. A nivel 4 Gargoya Devil es una carta a tener en cuenta y que nos puede dar muchas alegrías gracias a esas tres habilidades especiales.

In total there are 3 current cards that have Close Range as a potential ability. Only Gargoya Devil has it in the neutral deck, plus a legendary Gladius card like Tatiana Blayde, but you know that these cards can only be used in clan brawls. The recent Riftwatchers edition has brought us three more cards with this ability. Tinderblock in the fire deck at level 1, Fernheart in the land deck, also at its initial level, and finally Queen of Crowns in the death deck, also at its first level of evolution.

En total son 3 las cartas actuales que cuentan con Close Range como habilidad potencial. Solo Gargoya Devil cuenta con ella de entre el mazo neutral además de una carta legendaria Gladius como es Tatiana Blayde. Aunque ya sabes que estas cartas solo se pueden utilizar en las brawls de clanes. La reciente edición Riftwatchers nos ha traído tres cartas más con esta habilidad. Tinderblock en el mazo de fuego a nivel 1, Fernheart en el de tierra también en su nivel inicial y, por último, Queen of Crowns en el mazo de muerte y también en su primer nivel de evolución.

The advantage that Close Range provides is allowing ranged cards to attack from the first position in the line-up, meaning that the weak point of the ranged attack is eliminated by this ability. It's clear that a summoner like Doctor Sloan who boosts ranged attack is further boosted by this ability, which can also be found as a battle condition. In the case of Gargoya Devil at level 4, this means that he can always deal three damage regardless of his position in the line-up.

La ventaja que proporciona Close Range es permitir a las cartas con ataque a distancia realizar ataques desde la primera posición de la alineación. Es decir, el punto débil del ataque a distancia queda eliminado gracias a esta habilidad. Es evidente que un invocador como Doctor Sloan que potencia el ataque a distancia se ve más potenciado aún por esta habilidad que, además, podemos encontrarla como condición de batalla. En el caso de Gargoya Devil a nivel 4 eso supone que siempre podrá realizar tres puntos de daño independientemente de su posición en la alineación.

My opponent in the example battle will be @khactu0974 who forms, precisely, with Doctor Sloan as summoner. He's looking to take advantage of the Target Practice battle condition with three ranged attack cards including Gargoya Devil. We both form up with the card I analyse the Close Range ability so it's an ideal battle to see that ability in action with two different formations and strategies. My opponent with ranged attack and me with predominantly magic attack. Let's see the results.

Mi rival en la batalla de ejemplo será @khactu0974 que forma, precisamente, con Doctor Sloan como invocador. Busca aprovechar la condición de batalla Target Practice con tres cartas con ataque a distancia incluida Gargoya Devil. Ambos formamos con la carta con la que analizo la habilidad Close Range por lo que es una batalla ideal para ver esa habilidad en acción con dos formaciones y estrategias diferentes. Mi rival con ataque a distancia y yo con predominio del ataque mágico. Veamos los resultados.

A clear victory in which magic strategy was more effective than ranged attacking, both Gargoya Devils suffered early attacks that prevented them from shining and taking advantage of their ability. While it is true that my card, with its three attack points, did an exceptional job from the second position in my line-up.

Victoria clara en la que la estrategia de magia resultó más efectiva que la de ataque a distancia. Ambas Gargoya Devil sufrieron ataques tempranos que les impidieron brillar y aprovechar su habilidad. Si bien es cierto que mi carta, con sus tres puntos de ataque, realizo un trabajo excepcional desde la segunda posición de mi alineación.

The Close Range ability is a really useful ability for boosting ranged attacking When this ability is one of the battle conditions the life deck with Doctor Sloan becomes virtually invincible. In the case of Gargoya Devil, which is also a neutral card that we can use with any deck, this ability makes it a card to consider and very useful in almost all situations where the amount of mana available is sufficient, as its 7 summoning cost makes it useless in low mana battles. In conclusion, Close Range is a powerful ability that we should include and take advantage of in our roster when the conditions are right for it.

La habilidad Close Range es una habilidad realmente útil para potenciar el ataque a distancia. Cuando esta habilidad es una de las condiciones de batalla el mazo de vida con Doctor Sloan se convierte en prácticamente invencible. En el caso de Gargoya Devil que, además, es una carta neutral que podemos utilizar con cualquier mazo, esta habilidad la convierte en una carta a tener en cuenta y muy útil en casi todas las situaciones en las que la cantidad de maná disponible sea suficiente ya que sus 7 puntos de coste de invocación la hacen inútil en batallas de poco maná. En conclusión, Close Range es una habilidad poderosa que deberíamos incluir y aprovechar en nuestro roster cuando las condiciones sean las idóneas para ello.
