Share your battle - Carrion Shade edition [EN - ESP]

Wednesday arrived and, with it, a new challenge posed by the Splinterlands team. This week it's time to think about and analyze a common card that doesn't stand out especially in the death deck. We are talking about Carrion Shade and a new edition of the challenge "Share your battle"
And this week, I must confess, it's a real challenge. The death deck is a great unknown to me even if I have a card from that deck like Harklaw. In fact, this legendary is the only one out of common that I have in death deck. This being the case, I'll have to think carefully about how to approach the analysis of a card that, personally, does not attract my attention in a special way. Let's go with the analysis of the Carrion Shade.
CARRION SHADE
THE CARD

The first thing that strikes us about Carrion Shade, and perhaps the value of this card, is that it barely costs a point of mana, which makes it interesting as a mini tank to receive the first enemy hit or as a last card to play to protect the star of the second row in the lineup. Beyond that I don't see much more use for a basic card in the death deck.
At level 3 of evolution, it gains the fly ability, which gives it one more point of interest for battles with the earthquake rule and the possibility of causing misses in rival attacks. However, his starting stats don't begin to increase until level 5. That is, at levels 1 to 4 he keeps his attack point, his two speed points and his two defense points unchanged. Very negative point to consider.

THE CARRION SHADE'S ABILITIES
As I have already mentioned and you can see in the image above, until level 5 you will not have an improvement in his skills. That means that we are going to need 60 cards to improve a point of speed in addition to the aforementioned flying ability at level 3. Carrion Shade, at maximum level, will barely have gone from 1 to 2 points in attack, in speed from 2 to 4 and in defense from 2 to 3. And, as if that were not enough, he does not gain more abilities at higher levels. The analysis does not look good.

THE BATTLE
The battle I'm taking as an example of using Carrion Shade is one where good placement of your cards in the layup proves to be key. And that you can never, never, never forget to have cards that attack the enemy's second line. This point has been absolutely decisive in my victory against my beloved water splint. The rival makes a serious mistake in his strategy and my second line completely destroys the rival. In fact, in this battle I have placed Carrion Shade in the last position to protect Undead Badger from an opponent's attacks with the Sneak ability, something that, in the end, was not necessary.
| Card | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Contessa L'Ament | The Close range rule that marks the battle makes me decide on this summoner that reduces the opponent's ranged attack by one point. This fact clearly hurt Kulu Swinhunter who, together with Harklaw's Shield ability, made it unable to damage my tank. |
| Harklaw | Harklaw's performance in this battle was stellar. His Shield ability was decisive in my victory. Thanks to that ability, the rival only had two cards capable of damaging him. Ice Pixie with her magic damage and Kulu Swinhunter with her two ranged attack points. However, Contessa L'Ament's presence as summoner removed Kulu from the equation. |
| Death Elemental | Death Elemental's mission was to take advantage of his Snipe ability. Attack from the protection granted by Harklaw the second line, especially the possible rival ranged attack. He perfectly fulfilled his objective. |
| Undead Badger | Very useful card thanks to its 3 speed points that only costs two mana. He has the handicap of his short life. However, the mistake in the opponent's lineup allowed him to enjoy smashing opponent cards every round of the battle thanks to his sneak ability. |
| Carrion Shade | The idea behind putting Carrion Shade in the last position was to allow Undead Badger to attack for, at least, two rounds. As the opponent did not place any card with attack on my second line, Carrion Shade's performance was to sit quietly with his packet of popcorn and enjoy the show. |
CONCLUSIONS
Carrion Shade is a very simple card, which barely improves with level up and, except for a very specific sacrifice situation, has no further use. A card with which you can spend without having in your deck without any problem. Its mana cost and flying ability is interesting, but the fact that it barely improves makes this card, always in my possibly wrong opinion, totally expendable.
