Hitchhikers guide to Pretoria ! Edition 1 : MARTYR Ability

WELCOME you beautiful people to my very first edition of a series of guides meant to open your minds to the many strategies, tips and tricks to help navigate you to glory in this amazing game !

As you are probably well aware the newest round of reward cards are upon us and within them arises the new martyr ability ,so what better place to start then there !
Let’s get into the juice !

What is the MARTYR ability ?
When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats

There are currently 5 monsters that have the MARTYR ability

NOA THE JUST is an epic monster that gets MARTYR at lvl 6

FUNGUS FLINGER is a common monster gets MARTYR at lvl 1

IZIAR is a legendary monster and gets MARTYR* at lvl 3

VENARI MARKSRAT is a rare monster who recives MARTYR at lvl 1

FIRECALLER is a common monster that receives MARTYR at lvl one

So … Whats the tactic ?
Well in most cases your going to want your MARTYR ability monster to die first allowing adjacent splinters to reap the rewards of the death of your MARTYR ability monster whose essentially taking one for the team !

Now I know your asking me how on earth do I ensure my MARTYR monster dies first ? Well the answer is quite simple , it all depends on what’s on the table ! Let me elaborate

1)SNIPE RULESET: Using a ranged or magic MARTYR ability monster in the second position will allow it to be targeted first ! Just make sure the monster in the first position can take enough hit-points to allow for the death of the monster you actually want to die first

2)COUNTER TO SNEAK TEAM: we all know how annoying a sneak team can be just picking of your back line one by one well by placing your MARTYR monster in thesecond to last position (position 5) in conjunction with a splinter with camouflage in the 6th position will allow splinters on both sides to take advantage of its death !

3)Opportunity rulesets: with opportunity rulesets or thinking the opponent may play 1 or more opportunity splinters , one will just have to make sure the MARTYR monster you choose has the lowest health within your lineup !

4)***Poison ruleset ***
Now this one requires some outside the box thinking but done correctly can be extremely effective. Choosing a MARTYR monster with low health is essential in conjunction with immunity monsters or cleans monsters allowing immunity monsters to get them extra stats !

5)Flying ruleset : Like the poison ruleset you are using the negetives of the ruleset to target your monster rather then depending on the enemy hitting you , placing this between two flying monsters or ones with lots of shields will see you laughing all the way to the bank !

6)taunt: now this is probably the most obvious one just the taunt alone will direct fire towards chosen monster

***NOW HERES THE FUN PART ! ***
I just love the MARTYR ability and just bring so much joy to formulating my strategies and let’s face it , it’s so satisfying to see a good strategy work! So after you master the above with targeting your MARTYR monster you can start to FINE TUNE YOUR STRATEGIES , finding what monsters flourish from receiving the additional stats just to name a few double strike monsters absolutely love the increase , duel attack monsters also thrive , or maybe try and increase the monster with blast damage !
Throw a resurrect or two in there and watch it work it’s magic twice or more!

***Things to watch out for ! ***
The MARTYR ability effect can be dispelled
In the poison ruleset after you monster is resurrected it will no longer be poisoned so do accidentally depend on it dying !
Make sure it’s always placed between two monsters to take full advantage of stat increases on both sides but watch out YODIN could be hiding around the corner ! Or some other blast monster !
