Splinterlands Tournaments Training and Earning

I started playing the Tournaments in Splinterlands a few weeks ago and now I am hooked on them. You should check them out if you have not already done so.

Here are two reasons you should participate in the tournaments:

Training

The tournaments provide you the opportunity to see how your deck and skill sets match up against those of similar levels. I am in the Bronze League and go up against bots in normal match play. It is very hard to beat bots that use programs to beat you.

I believe the players in the tournaments are real people and I do not think bots can participate in the tournaments. I play mostly in the novice and Bronze level tournaments. I accidentally entered a Silver level tournament and got beaten up badly but still made back my entry fee.

Also, some of the tournaments, you can only use select card editions like Chaos only or Untamed and Chaos only (Modern format). It helps you learn the individual cards in your deck and the various combinations to use for the different rule sets.

Earnings

Earnings are another reason to participate. As you can see in the above screen shot, there are currently $76,735 worth of prizes available to win in upcoming tournaments.

I am not that good yet at match play but I am getting a little better. Here is an example, I entered the Summoners' Novice Beginner Training Splinterlands Tournament hosted by Splinterlands and created by @sps.tournaments

In the first round, I played 11 matches and had 6 wins and 5 losses. This was barely good enough to advance to the second round. In the second round I had another 10 matches. Guess what - I lost every one of them.

All of the matches in the second round, I learned that I did not have the Epic Chaos cards that are needed to compete. Guess what, I am now saving up to buy the cards that were in the lineups that beat me so next time I can place higher.

Here is the kicker - as you can see by the next screen shot, I only paid 10 DEC to enter the tournament. I paid 10 DEC to get my butt kicked but got paid 2 SPS in round for learning a great deal. Granted the tournament paid out 256 places but there were only 146 players that entered so no mater what I was guaranteed my entry fee back.
