REMUKANAR || Original Character

Hello, friends!

It's been another long while since the last post. But I don't come empty-handed but art that I promised to make, one of my original characters "Remu", for whom I did a concept portrait of two months back.

Process

I didn't do much sketching for Remu because I pretty much already had an idea for them, being the counter to another OC that I'm working on "Ankhmir". With that in mind, I went of to work. The vibe I wanted for this was a darkly vibe with a personally that seemed daring, powerful and strong, ascending up from the deep places. Herself, her aesthetics need to radiate and dark angel all powerful, beautiful and audacious.

The process was pretty much straight forward. (1) I started with a shape block-in to get a good start on the pose ans action. (2) I then defined the lines of the forms. (3)&(4) From there, I did a value block-in and went on to render. (5)&(6) I used a gradient maps to tone the values, first on the shadow and the the light values everywhere on the piece. I then laid in the color using a color blend mode on the skin. After that, it was just a matter of rendering to a near high frequency for a polish.

The light effects were done using a combination of a gradient map, a screen mode layer and normal layer. I have to maybe post a tutorial on that some day.
