Mar. 18, 22: Routine, Short Walk, Oculus, Pizza Trivia, Lil’ Web Work, A Movie, and Games

[Well, shite! I guess I’ve been “seeping in” the last few days, which sort of explains it, but once again I’m late getting started on my post. 😱 Almost nine thirty already and just getting going.]

Got to bed a bit late again last night and was up at five for more than an hour short, and I did hit the wall hard in the afternoon, but I fought through it and didn’t crash. 💪

Can’t recall anything noteworthy about the usual morning routine. HIVE is showing a few percent of green, which is nice, and Aave got a facelift (which is fine, but now I can’t see the balance in terms of ETH - maybe that’s a good thing 😛). Last I was able to check it was even more than .8 ETH gone…otherwise shifted and staked tokens, got caught up in Discord, hit the faucets, all that stuff.

Got my post done and published for the day and then really should have started working; but, as is the general story, I couldn’t resist the temptation to jump into VR and play some more Zenith. Damn! The hours just melt away playing that!

I completed a few more quests and unlocked a new area, but despite farming enemies forever in the first area (I’m level eight now), I’ve hit the boundary of my ability to go it alone. Some of the enemies I can kind of deal with one at a time, but get two or more and I’m toast.

Luckily, it’s quite forgiving as far as dying goes. You can just respawn at the nearest travel point. 👍😁 I also like the spell casting dynamic, kind of similar to what I was thinking for Mythix, as well as the movement. The ability to climb everything removes that “can’t get there from here” crap you usually have to play with RPGs (like travel all the way around the mountain barrier to get to the path through).

Anyway, whoosh went the time, and I quit out to get some lunch. As is common about that time, I majorly hit the wall and just wanted to go to sleep. Seeing as how I hadn’t really accomplished anything other than doing my post so far the whole day, I didn’t want to sleep through the rest of it, so I geared up and did a short walk down to the store and back.

I needed lighters, but I figured I’d grab a RedBull as well. Between the fresh air, getting the blood flowing, and the RedBull, I caught a second wind.

Just in time for Pizza Trivia Night! 🥳 Had some pretty hard questions today, but I still got a few by dumb luck! 🤑 No Gartic today, which is fine since I suck at it anyway 😂, but it was fun times, as usual doing trivia. 😁

Having caffeine in my veins and some more PIZZA in my pocket, I finally decided to sit down at the computer and focus. I’m not exactly sure how to feel about it…I think, maybe, I might have solved the first part of the problem, but I’m not completely confident.

I was able to fire an AJAX call with the script dataType which did call up (and execute a JavaScript file). It doesn’t actually return from the function, though, it sends the text of the JS file as the success response. That’s a little weird, but I think I can work with it.

One trouble is that I’m pretty sure the code is still exposed in the source (visible in the browser dev tools), so I have to be careful about keys, and I’m not sure where it’s executed…I have a feeling it’s still client-side which screws everything.

I think, ultimately, since I’m going to have to be able to run JavaScript server-side to be able to stream blocks from the chain, my only real choice is to upgrade to a virtual private server to get root access and the ability to run NodeJS. I’ve already spent several hundred dollars on the webhosting and not made a penny (nor see any opportunity any time soon), so I’m super hesitant to pay that much more for a VPS. Still, might be one of the only ways to be able to proceed.

Wenche got home about that time and she made us some pasta and meat sauce for dinner and we watched the movie I snagged when I went down to the store: The Matrix Resurrections! I think I need to watch it again to see everything, but I mean, it’s The Matrix, so of course it was good. Little confused (spoiler alert! 🚨) that Trinity all of a sudden has The One powers for no reason. I guess it’s because she’s a girl and that’s the Hollywood trend, but kinda’ defeats the whole “One” thing.

That was pretty much it, got ready for bed after the movie and ended up crashing out watching something or other.

Rising Star has become a bit of an afterthought lately. Went in and refreshed my mission in the morning, but I think that was it. My Ego is back to zero, so that’s some progress I suppose.

Not too much going on with HashKings today either, just waiting out the clock until my next harvest. Wish I’d had the liquid funds the other day to get that cheaper plot that was available…not sure if it is any more.

One more day to go for my second harvest. Should probably use some of my BUDS to get my level up, want to try out the Raids.

I actually didn’t realize until right before bedtime that I hadn’t played my Splinterlands quest (was watching The Matrix, so wanted to actually pay attention) and I really didn’t feel like playing.

I guess that officially puts me a day behind on my quests, but now I have an opportunity to reset earlier in the evening, so that’s something.

I got assigned to the next brawl today, but, [as of this morning] I was booted. Have to say the guild stuff has been a source of frustration and anger more than once…each time I get that much closer to just saying “fuck it.” There’s the battle “bonus,” though, so I guess I’d lose out on that, but otherwise not much benefit, an obligation to pay, and the obligation to play…meh, the more I think about it…think it was funny that steji came back that I get beat in brawl 1, which is bullshit, and who the fark is that anyway (or rather, who do they think they are)? Nobody on chain as far as I can tell.

Anyway, tried to let it go, but obviously got my panties in a bunch…not sure why I care, the Gladiator cards are worthless anyway.

Staked my SPS drop for today, which still seems to be falling (the DEC income from battles has been stupid low, so hard to maintain) and I’m still waiting for vouchers to climb some. They did pop by a few percent, but not enough that I was willing to sell just yet.
