Mar. 31, 22: Routine, Errands, Oculus, SM Season Ends, A Movie, and Games

Woah! Well, this post is turning out to be an epic. Already nearly a thousand words and only just started this “blog” part of my post. 😲 Maybe it will make up for the shameful fact that I never got around to going back and editing my post from yesterday. I’m thankful for all the people that voted me anyway even though it wasn’t quite up to snuff.

Not quite sure, but I think it was the cat that got me up at four thirty this morning. 😡 Something did, anyway, and having gone to bed a bit late last night, I ended another two hours short. I felt it today, for sure, and my productivity took a hit as a result, but a Red Bull got me past the wall and I didn’t collapse until halfway through the movie I paid money to see. 😛

Got on the usual morning routine. Nothing really major to note there, just all the same old tha I do every morning. Cryptos are pulling back a little, but nothing major, just a few percent. We’ll see if the previous resistance at $45k will turn into support. I was happy to see that BAL had popped and I actually gained back a couple hundredths of an ETH. Still hurts, but that’s at least in the right direction.

Started working on my post, but wanted to get my errands done early (honestly, I was running a bit short on the puffity-puff), so I just got the basic structure ready to post and took the dog for a ride into town. Had to post on the road, but got it in time.

Had some major brainstorming going on about gameplay dynamics and controller button mapping. Got back, grabbed a quick lunch, and then hit the wall hard. Tried to write down as much as I could remember of what I’d been thinking about, but I think I lost about half of it. 🤣 It’ll come back but by bit, hopefully.

I didn’t want to sleep away the day, so I suited up and walked down to the store to get the blood flowing and get a Red Bull. Decided to check the RedBox to see if there were any new movies and there was the new Marvel: Eternals, so I grabbed it for us to watch in the evening.

At that point I didn’t feel quite as tired and I jacked in to Zenith for a bit. I was able to make a little progress on the story mission, but the item upgrade system is still busted, so I couldn’t get very far. 🤬 There was a new song pack for Beat Saber that came out and I didn’t even put up a fight, just went in and got it.

I played through a couple of the new songs on expert, but then my arms started to get sore and I quit out (wuss).

Wenche got home and made us steaks and salad and fries for dinner and we put on the movie. I played my Splinterlands quest from the day before earlier and wanted to pay attention to the movie, so I just went in and reset today’s quest and put the phone away.

Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the end. 😭 Would say about three quarters, maybe, before I was out. Wenche woke me up when she came to bed around eleven, which was good because I still had a thousand steps left for the day and I would have missed it otherwise.

Got my steps done and then tried to go back to bed, but she was snoring so I went out and slept on the couch.

Wow! Another day of double digit dShitty income!! I hesitate to hope that this could be a trend…probably has something to do with the gyrations in the HIVE price and we’re just getting a bit of lucky “math” that will be sure to be stamped out by some tax or other.

I did an extra lesson yesterday on Rising Star to give myself a little buffer and since the drunks expired, my Ego was back to zero and I started missions again. Thinking that’s what this game is going to be for me now; go in once or twice a day, click a button, not worry about advancing anything or getting any more cards, just let my Starbits balance grow until it starts to be meaningful.

Got my harvest done on HashKings in the morning and got my plot replanted. Still haven’t done any Raids or made any use of my BUDS since it requires dealing with the computer.

Speaking of which, I’ve been excited for the Bang! Defense pre-sale and have been thinking the last few days about ways to get the liquid funds to participate. I had visions of “not optimized for mobile” flashing in front of my eyes (which is what Liuke says to justify HK serving a white, blank screen on mobile devices - or minimal functionality when you finally find a way in), and so I went in and asked in the Discord.

The dev responded that in order to participate on mobile, you’d have to download some sketchy kiwi navigator special browser. First, not downloading another rando browser just to do this one thing. Second, it’s for Chrome and so iOS users are out of luck anyway.

Now, it would be fine to participate in the pre-sale on the computer, but it sounds like it’s not going to work on mobile for the foreseeable future. I already have this game that I don’t really play because it’s dysfunctional on mobile…don’t really have any reason other than FOMO to pay for another game that I’m unlikely to play. 😡

Was a bit frustrating that the reason supplied was that Hive is young…kind of a lame excuse when I’ve been playing Hive games on the phone for years now. (Still play DrugWars)

Well, it’s generally not fun playing the day before or after the season reset, but I didn’t want to lost out on a daily quest, so I went for it anyway.

Some of it did suck, like 21M deck power?! Are you kidding me? But I got my quest done in time to reset it not terribly late.

Had the Earth splinter quest left from yesterday and got it done with a little progress in Gold II. Not great rewards today, but a bit of DEC and some more commons for upgrade fodder:

I got Life splinter for today’s quest, but despite trying to reset it twice, Splinterlands was borked again, and so I guess I’m stuck with it. 🤬 Hopefully my league is low enough that it won’t be too bad.

Speaking of being borked, today was the end of the season and I couldn’t claim my rewards. First it fired an error, then it barked at me not to submit the transaction again or it would be processed twice. Went and checked and it was on chain twice, with two different nonces…wasn’t until much later in the evening that I was finally able to claim. Got one pack, but otherwise not much 🤬:

The pack was alright, four commons and a rare. Would have been better off just holding the pack for the airdrop points, but I did get a summoner, so that helps:

I got my brawl rewards as well today and had enough to get another Gladiator pack. Four commons and a rare again:

I tried to go in on the market to snag up some cheap commons that people would be dumping from their rewards, but every time I tried to select a card, it just said it wasn’t available on the market any more. 😡 I tried for a while with a couple different cards, but couldn’t get a trx through and gave up.

Staked my SPS drop for the day, but it hurt a bit, fell by four since yesterday. 😢 Vouchers fell by about ten percent as well, but they seem to have come back to around a dollar. Either way, didn’t sell any, but really itching to.
