May 2, 22: Routine, Final Exams, TV, and Games

Made it from around ten to nearly six this morning and only about half an hour or so short. Was a pretty solid night, though, not a bunch of times waking up, so despite being a bit short, I didn’t feel too bad.

Did most of the usual morning routine and, of course, lost more money on Polygon…up over .9 ETH lost now, awesome. 👍 I can only blame Ray for .8 of that, the rest is on me. Crypto markets in general are looking pretty nasty lately, could be teetering on the edge of a bear market.

I got so involved with chatting over on Discord this morning that I didn’t even realize how late it had gotten. When I finally “woke up” and checked the time, it was already past when I should have started getting ready for work and I hadn’t started on my post at all! 😱 I was able to get a basic skeleton done (and people still kindly voted me), but I’m definitely not proud of that one. 😡

Speaking of Ray, for the last two days (and since the most recent update) Brofund has ceased voting me altogether. Honestly, have to admit that I’m kind of glad to be free of it. [going to wait a couple minutes today just to verify] I read the update and could see his game writ large. Not going to bother confronting him about it ‘cus he’s just going to hide behind words like “complimentary” and “discretion.” It’s fine, but after all this time, by choosing to be a twat, he’s made the decision for me that it’s time to plan to disassociate in such a way that I’m at least not worse off than when I joined the Man Cave (which won’t be easy). I did, for the first time, sell some BRO, but only a fraction of one, just a shot across the bow.

I did get some PLN and entered into that pool. Looks pretty juicy, but I have to admit I don’t know what all the tokens are or what they do…been hesitant to get involved for precisely that reason (ten thousand tokens), but the interest rate looks good and I wanted to spread myself out a little more and try a new pool.

Quick got my lunch made and got everything together to go and took a shower. I did get out the door almost ten minutes late, but the drive in was fine and I made it with time enough to go down to the faculty lounge to grab some blank scratch paper and hit the restroom before class.

Not exactly super fun proctoring an exam, but it is what it is and I got their homework grades entered into my grade book so the only thing left to do for the semester is grade the finals, enter them in the grade book and report officially.

Despite the exams being designed to be done in less than half of class time, there’s always at least one that will make me wait until the last minute (the ones that generally don’t know how to do it in the first place). Still, had an hour to kill for lunch.

Went back in for the Calculus final. Was a bit aggravated because a guy showed up fifteen minutes late because he needed to write his note sheet. 😡 Hardly ever showed up before or would have known since I said that like every class for the last three classes as well as saying it in Discord. He didn’t make me wait for him, though, so that was ok…different student instead. 😂

I did use the class time to grade the Algebra finals and get them entered into the system, so those grades were completely done and just need to be reported and all that’s left is to grade the Calculus exams.

Got home about quarter past five, changed my clothes, and went down to the hidey hole for a smoke and Wenche got home. She made us an omelette and toast for dinner and we watched some tube…rewatched the comedy show What About Dick, pretty funny, worth the watch.

I played my Splinterlands quest and dinked around on Discord some more. It seems that @taco-pizza has developed a bit of a mancrush on me:

Played my Wordles, but man, it was brutal today. Not sure if it was because it was so late or what, but I blew all of them except Wordle itself. 😭

Did the dishes and put away the laundry on the kitchen table to make space for grading and then actually got the first page graded pretty quickly! The grades aren’t due until noon on Wednesday, but the sooner I get them done, the sooner I’m on break. 😁

We got a Shopping Mall robbery and a pandemic in dShitty today. Makes no difference; negative thirty-five stated, six actual. Same nonsense as the last month or whatever.

My Rising Star playing has devolved basically to going going in once a day and resetting my quest, taking my photo, and forgetting about it until the next day. I do suppose that fulfills the passive earning requirement and means I can’t complain too hard about my slow rate of growth…we’ll see, not so excited about it any more, but it’s definitely not a net negative, so it’s fine.

Although I did actually have the computer open today, it was for the purpose of work (entering grades) and not for wasting on HashKings. So, still in the same spot:

It was seriously late, like nearly eight, before I got started with my Splinterlands quest. I did complete my Death quest from yesterday and it went quite well! Made some progress for sure. 👍 That makes the quest reset super late again now, going to have to try and walk it back again. Really wanted to get going with the new quest, but just didn’t have it in me, even though I wasn’t frustrated or angry.

Got my daily quest done in Gold II but the rewards were hardly worth noting (although I did get a little DEC from the battles):

My SPS drop seems to have fallen hard now to just over 100 a day, less than half when it started. Still just been staking it, though, and hoping that was a good decision. I sold more than half of the vouchers I had on the market, but between entering a new pool, PUD, and buying some tokens here and there, I’ve already plowed through all the funds. Still have some waiting on the market, but thinking I might move some more out very soon (which has been the real benefit to holding SPS so far).

Got my stats for the last week again. I’m a little surprised again, to be honest. I thought with the several walks and teaching and everything that I would have had more green arrows. I guess last week was even more active. I am glad to see my sleep on the rise (and I haven’t been napping), but kinda’ sad that I think that’s due to painkillers and the wife sleeping in the other room. 😢
