Sept. 14, 22: Routine, Teaching, Walking, TV, and Games

Woot! Ten till seven thirty, bois! Slept from ten all the way until seven thirty for eight and a half hours tonight!!!! 🥳🤩 I’ll take it wherever I can get it. 😁 Although the day was mostly focused on teaching (didn’t work on the website or really produce much otherwise), I didn’t drag much at all and felt pretty good.

Sleeping in made the morning routine a bit of rush, but I got caught up on Discord, did the usual curation and token shifting, checked on the crypto markets which were more or less stable, maybe recovering a little from yesterday’s losses, and got to work on my post.

Once I got it done and shared, I was thinking about heading out for a walk, but I had told my Algebra class that I would take a look at the gradebook in ConnectMath since it was showing weird values and not including the videos or practice tests (so lazy biatches were just skipping them - cus who cares if they’re assigned, that’s meaningless, I want to do as little as possible, so only what’s worth credit). 🤬 Got their education entirely backwards…worrying about the grade and trying to skip all the material instead of worrying about the material and almost automatically getting a good grade. 🥴

Anyway, I decided that I’d go out and take the dog with after work and set to fixing the gradebook. I got it straightened out (but I missed the practice test - someone barked because it counted and they didn’t do it 😡) but it’s at least a pretty accurate representation of their homework grades. I tried to make it so that the tests didn’t count toward the grade (so it would just be their homework score), but then they (and I) couldn’t see the scores at all, so I had to include them, just for a tiny fraction of the grade.

Felt good that I’d kept my promise (and actually figured it out - ConnectMath doesn’t give me much control) and got some lunch and a shower and headed in to teach.

I was a couple minutes late out the door, but the traffic was all good and I was in class a good ten to fifteen minutes early. Got everything set up and we covered multiplying and dividing rational expressions. The fundamental ideas are pretty simple, so didn’t take me but a few seconds to explain and we spent the rest of the time pounding out examples.

We did a lot of work, and a lot of practice with factoring and I could see that their eyes were glazing over and they were looking at me like “we get it.” I begged them to let me do one more, though, and we did, but we ended up getting out like forty minutes early or so…felt guilty, but there’s a point beyond which they’ll just tune out anyway, so have to kind of watch that…there’s almost always at least one or two tuned out at any given time, but when the majority starts to roll their eyes, gotta’ recognize you’re beating a dead horse.

The drive home was super smooth and I was back nearly an hour early. Putzed about for a while and then took the dog out to the woods for a run around and sniff. I promised him we didn’t have to go that far (and he was wanting to turn around almost the whole time), but I went as far as the first road and then turned around.

I let him set the pace going back, and boy, it was tough. It wasn’t for lack of energy that he wanted to turn around, that’s for sure. We ran more or less the whole way back and I was seriously sweating and breathing hard! 💪

Not nearly that warm in the shade of the woods, but that’s just about the ideal day out for me! Had eighties, clear skies, and sunshine. ☀️ Give me Moar!

Can’t help but appreciate just being outside. 😀

We got back early as well…drive in, walk, drive back only took about an hour all told. 😯 That was fine, though, and I made myself some hotdogs and spaghetti o’s for dinner again (bought ‘em, so I guess I should eat ‘em 😜).

I spent some time after dinner preparing for teaching Calculus tomorrow and then started getting ready for bed (but not really intending on going to sleep yet).

I put on Housebroken, but mostly didn’t pay any attention to it. I played some WombPlay games after the daily reset working towards the NFT challenge, but spent a TON of time playing Splinterlands with the sole goal of getting to Diamond.

Not a bad day, all in all…mostly set for Calculus tomorrow and just waiting for the Splinterlands season to end.

Got a Shopping Mall robbery in dShitty today…reminds me of the fun times of buying a Police Station to reduce crime, needing Population to run the Station, the Population increasing the crime rate causing the need for another Police Station…brilliant way to get you to endlessly pay and never succeed. 👍

I was very surprised to find my Ego still at zero on Rising Star. Thought for certain it would be going up now, but cool, missions it is, then.

Well, I guess it was only a matter of time…when I first started playing HashKings, the mobile site was moderately functional; did everything work? Not even close. Could you perform some of the basic actions? Yes. Then there was a HiveSigner update that they never fixed compatibility. That meant that the site was completely dysfunctional, but at least I could still see my balances and “progress” on waiting for the plants.

As of now, it’s just a loading screen. 🤬 Not holding out any hope that that’s goi g to be fixed any time soon, not even soon™️.

Woah, buddy, did I play Splinterlands today!!! Like hours upon hours, for serious. Way more than would fit in my battle history. While I had about zero desire to play on the last day of the season, I had one singular goal: avoid getting reset to Silver (again, just trying to keep it from sucking worse than it needs to isn’t a great reason for playing, but I guess I did earn some more chests - for whatever they may or may not be worth).

I suppose, with enough time and effort, it was bound to happen, but I got it, finally:

I forgot to reset my focus yesterday morning until right around posting time. Means that I’ll get my Focus rewards and season rewards about the same time, but not quite early enough now for my post. 😢 Got quite a few set for today, though, so hopefully it won’t just be a bunch of potions.

I moved the SPS out that I’d been keeping liquid with the notion to swap into HIVE to give myself options as to where to eventually put it…but I failed to keep RiftWatchers in mind. 😡 It’s only enough for three of the packs ($5 a pop is fucking expensive…a dollar a card?! They’re not likely to be worth that - four commons and a rare. Actually, now that I think about it, it might be smarter to wait for people to sell…but then there’s the airdrops too…).

Three packs won’t get me much, though, fifteen cards of the available forty-three (even with no repeats) and they’ll be level one, so useless, unless they’re way OP. 🤔 It’s not so much FOMO that makes me feel obligated to buy, it’s that I don’t want to get that much more disadvantaged against the pay-to-players…already worried that those who forked out for Land are going to have ridiculous advantages once that eventually comes out…
