A close one

Hello Splinterlands Lover, I have been summoned to share a very interesting battle I had this week. This battle is interesting because of the tension towards the ending of the battle. You’ll find out shortly:)

RulesetDescription
Target Practice: All ranged and magic attack units have the Snipe ability

My opponent’s Lineup

Summoner123456

I almost shit my pants in shock of my opponent's lineup. They had some cards I was seeing for the first time. Plus, I saw a friend of mine talk about how powerful the summoner my opponent used in one of their posts, so I knew I lost this battle.

My Line Up and Strategy

Summoner123456

I used Brewmaster Abraxas as my summoner because I wanted to be able to summon magic monsters belonging to the fire element and my tank, Grum Flameblade. Oh I forgot to mention I rented my own bloodlust now too? My bad. But come on, how could I not, after the suffering I saw in their hands.

In second position, I put Mycelic Slipspawn to take attacks, whether from the snipe of the ruleset or from other monster abilities. Of course, the 2 magic attack it has was a bonus.

In third position, I put Immolation. That 4 magic attack was definitely going to be helpful. Also, in the case that it made it to the frontline and my enemy's tank at the time happens to be a melee attacker, it's mute ability would help.

In position 4, of course, I had my tank heal, Goblin Psychic. I put him in to give my bloodlusty tank a long time to cause chaos. I also put it behind all these monsters to sort of protect it. The same thing goes for Spirit Hoarder, my triage to heal my back line monsters.

Finally, all the way at the back, I put Ulundin Overseer to shield my healers in case there was an unexpected attacker from the back.

The Battle

Before the battle began, summoner buffs took effect. Neither my summoner nor monsters had any buffs to give, so the buffs (about 3!) were all on my enemy's side.

Round 1

In this round, no monster was killed on either sides. My opponent's tank and my taunt took serious damage though, with my opponent's tank more severly damaged.

Round 2

I took my opponent's tank out with a 4 magic blast from Immolation. My taunt was unfortunately taken out before it got the chance to be healed. This brought Immolation to second position, making it the target of all enemy monsters thanks to the target practice ruleset.

Round 3

Grumblade Flameblade knocked out my enemy's tank, bloodlusting his way to buffed stats of 5 melee attack, 2 speed and his shield back. This was where things started getting interesting. Coincidentally, that also happened to be the enemy monster giving armor to all the others, so the armor was taken down as well. My luck was starting to shine.

Round 4

Immolation was taken town, leaving my triage exposed and vulnerable. But at this point, the triage had done it's best already. I had just 3 monsters left standing on my team against 4 powerful monsters on my opponent's. Odds were not looking that great in my favor.

Round 5

My third second position monster was yet again killed, leaving me with just two monsters, a bloodlust and a monster with no attack. What is my fate?

Round 6

After almost being killed, My tank knocked my enemy's tank out, gaining an extra health, it's armor back and now a melee attack force of 6! If you ask me, this was where the odds tipped in my favor. Nothing much except for a few damages in health happened in round 7.

Round 8

My last standing backline monster got knocked out, but fortunately, I knocked my enemy's tank out with Grum Flameblade as well, and you know what that means. Time to buff up! Grum was now garnished with a melee attack of 7 (a force enough to wipe out certain monsters with just one hit), a speed of 4, 4 health and 1 armor. The low health made me skeptical about whether I would be able to win even with these other crazy stats.

Round 10

In round 9, I almost killed my enemy's tank with a powerful melee strike. With only two monsters left on my opponent's team, the round ended quickly and I finished my opponent's tank off in round 10.

Round 11 &12

As my enemy's tank was charging to give me a deadly attack, I was like "Yeah, I don't mind going first" and I hit it with the powerful might of Grum. In round 12, my enemy's tank was done charging and just before it attacked I hit it again because I was faster, ultimately winning the battle. They were so close, but unfortunate. Lol

sometimes i see a scary lineup but still i win the battle. It feels like i won the world cup😂 what i found is that one card can change the whole battle. For sure strategy and line up play and important role too

Haha I think that is one of the biggest thrills of the game. The picking a strategy and blindly and confidently beleiving it will win no matter what!

I'm mostly excited when I win battles I initially thought I was going to lose too. Like this one here.

When I saw the opponent's summoners I thought they were going to toast you alive, but thank God for the void magic of the Grum, good win withstanding all that magic attack

Toast is a really brutal way to put it, but yeah I was scared shitless too😂

You know, now that you mention it, I forgot to mention how much of a savior Grum’s void was in this battle.
