An "I'll take you down with me if it's the last thing I do"-ass Battle

Hello battle mages. I wasn’t able to make an appearance for the battle mage weekly secrets challenge with the earthquake ruleset because of a very funny mistake I made that made me lose the battle shamefully. Because of how easy my opponent got me, I didn’t think the battle was worth sharing.

This week, I want to share about a new summoner I experimented with, and how I won the battle with it. I actually would like to say this summoner is a hidden gem, and I’ll explain why as I talk about the battle.

Battle Ruleset

The ruleset for our battle was Blood and Sunder I don’t think the ruleset affected the outcome of the battle much, cos neither myself nor my opponent came to battle with an armor-heavy strategy.

My Line Up and Strategy

summoner123

I chose Skargore as my summoner because of the enrage ability it gives all friendly monsters. Considering that it costs only a mana of 3, I think it’s safe to call it a hidden gem.
It’s almost equivalent to Tarsa, except that instead of a simple +1 melee attack, it gives a whooping 50% of whatever your monster’s melee attack is when it’s not at full health.

Of course, using this summoner meant I was anticipating my monsters getting hit. In fact, I was hoping for it.

That also meant that using Grum in first position would be very effective. You’ll find out why when we take a look at the battle.

In second position, I had Immolation. As you can clearly tell, immolation is a magic monster, and so the 50% melee attack boost doesn’t affect it. But the good thing about enrage is that it doesn’t just affect attack, but friendly monster speeds are also boosted by 50% when they’re not at full health. I think this helped a lot, and you’ll see soon.

In third position, I put in Flame Mephit You can see that putting her in doesn’t really add any tactical advantage to my team. I added her because I had just enough mana to get a monster with her mana cost and wasn’t sure who to put in. There was no melee attack monster with special sneak, snipe or opportunity that cost that mana. So instead, I put in a range attacker, so that maybe she could slip in one or two arrows before she eventually gets taken out.

The Battle

Summoner buffs and bebuffs took effect before the battle started.

Round 1

As you guessed, my backliner was killed and by no other than … a bloodlust. I started feeling hopeless once I saw one of my opponent’s bloodlusts buff up that soon. It was already enough of a concern that they have 2 bloodlusts, but they’re buffing up this early?

I also killed my enemy’s tank. Unfortunately, Grum was not the killer because he was too slow and lost the kill to immolation who buffed up to 5 speed after it was hit by my opponent’s sneak.

At the end of round 2, the Grums on both teams were completely stripped of their armor, which was secretly what I was waiting for. This meant my Grum could now take damage and receive a buff of 2 melee attack to get him to 6 melee attack.

Round 2

In this round, my Grum killed my opponent’s Grum, and buffed up to 8 melee attack. This actually surprised and shocked me at the same time, cos even though I know Grum is a bloodlust, bloodlusts typically gain +1 to all their stats, not a +2. My hypothesis is that it has something to do with the enrage, since that is the only new variable in play here.

Round 3

Here, I killed my opponent’s martyr, buffing his already-buffed bloodlust once more! She was now in the front facing Grum head on. Now given that Grum was sitting at an amazing 8 melee attack, I thought I won this battle already. Wait. This doesn’t mean I lost. Just listen.

Round 4

My opponents bloodlust hit Grum first, taking his health down to 5. When Grum hit back, my opponent’s Bloodlust was left with just one health, but surprisingly took Grum down with it. Talk about “I’ll take you down with me if it’s the last thing I do”. Lol
I started panicking at this point because I was about to be up against a 4-time buffed bloodlust with a melee attack of 6!

Thankfully, Immolation attacked first with a powerful magic blast and took her out before she could cause any more chaos.

Round 5

At this point, the fate of the battle was clear. With just one monster each left standing, I blasted his last monster to oblivion, and won the battle!

Close call, but good win, two misses from the enemy helped a lot. The Grum has been a revelation for you

Haha yes! Can you get one as a soulbound card?

Not really. Soulbound are cards that are earned as rewards

Okay, bloodlusts are excluded from those?

Bloodlust are not excluded, but the cards with most bloodlust are gladius cards.

Soulbound cards mostly don't bloodlust, but the only soulbound card I've seen with bloodlust is USUT and it's a legendary soulbound.

You can put a call through that to me so I can explain most of these things to you
