Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge: Quora saved the day. Not my day, but well...

Hey guys, it’s another week in battle again and I come your way with my battle on the Briar Patch Ruleset. As always, I’m excited to share my battle. This battle however, did not how I anticipated and I was honestly not surprised because I realized several faults in my strategy. I guess that’s what learning is about.

Without further ado, let’s get into it.

I’m going to be showing you my lineup first before my enemies, so you’ll feel my shock when I realized my strategy was fucked.

Battle Line Up and Strategy

Strategy

Looking at my opponent’s previous line up, I realized he loved using Tarsa sometimes and Obsidian sometimes. Tarsa suggested he’s strategy was mostly Melee heavy, and Obsidian suggested magic-focused strategy. So in picking my strategy, since I wasn’t sure which summoner he would use in this battle between Tarsa and Obsidian I decided to pick a summoner that would counter Obsidian with a -1 magic debuff, and including a monster in my lineup that counters the +1 magic attack that Tarsa grants. I believed that this way, my strategy would not be taken by surprise if he uses any of his favorites.

My Line Up

summoner1234

As I explained already in my strategy, I chose Thaddius Brood as my summoner for the -1 magic debuff which I already explained.

In position one, my stupid ass put the Disintegrator, for the -1 melee attack of his Demoralize. Because I was so focused on countering my opponent’s strategy, I forgot of the most important thing – the ruleset. Briar Patch basically discourages the use of Melee attack, and I had not just one monster with melee attack, but 2! Fuck me.

In second position, I put the Revealer for his Stun ability. I anticipated that my enemy’s first monster would be very powerful, and that it would be in my best interest to prevent it from attacking Disintegrator since my -1 melee attack ability depended on him not dying. You’ll find out why this didn’t work when we get to my opponent’s line up.

In position 3, I had Silent Sha-Vi in anticipation that my opponent would use Obsidian. I observed from his previous line ups that every time he used Obsidian, he put the Goblin Psychic and Spirit Hoarder, a tank and back line healer, at the back of the lineup. These two would’ve been Silent Sha-Vi’s perfect targets, given his Sneak Ability.

Finally, all the way at the back, I put Venari Spellsmith counting on his Dispel ability to clear all good effects that would be on his first position monster (which I believed would be powerful), weaking or debuffing it for my monsters to kill.

Now let’s take a look at my opponent’s line up.

summoner1234

Surprise surprise!! No Obsidian, no Tarsa. Instead, my opponent used Helios Martriach, and why he did that, you’re about to find out. The fate of my entire strategy is in shambles!

In my opponent’s position 1, we had Lurking Puffer. This actually made a lot of sense, and considering the ruleset, was a great monster to use against my melee tank.

Position 2 was where I realized I was fucked. My opponent had Fungus Flinger, A MARTYR! You know that’s not good news. But wait until you find out who was in third position.

If it aint Quora fucking Towershead in position 3. Lol it was confirmed I was done at this point. But no, it gets worse.

All the way at the back, we had Venari Marskrat, ANOTHER MARTYR. I realized at this point that Disintegrator’s Demoralize is useless in this battle.

Finally, the battle

As usual, summoner buffs took effect before the battle began

Round 1

This round started with my melee attackers going first. The irony. I killed Vernari Marksrat on my enemy’s team, activating his martyr, and making Quora more dangerous!

Round 2

By the start of round 2, my tank was killed, taking down with it, the small shackle Demoralize placed on Quora. Revealer was moved to first position. Considering that Fungus Flinger was in my opponent’s first position, this new arrangement didn’t have any benefit to me at all, especially taking into consideration Quora also has bloodlust and just got fiercer the further into battle we went. At the ending of the round, it was clear all my monsters were living on borrowed time.

Round 3

Silent Sha-vi got killed by thorns from attacking Quora. I also killed Fungus Flinger, but it was more sad news than good, because again, Quora grew ever more powerful. Thankfully (maybe not really thankful cos it didn’t end up doing any good in the grand scheme of things) Venari Spellsmith dispelled Quora’s gained attacks, but it was too late at this point.

Round 4

I had two magic monsters on their last breaths standing against dreadful Quora. At this point, the only way I was winning would be if Revealer was able to Stun Quora into not attacking again for the rest of the game, whiles taking Dispel attacks from Venari Spellsmith simultaneously. But because both Stun and Dispel were working with probability, the odds were not in my favor. It didn’t help that Quora attacked first, pushing the odds of the odds being in my favor out of my favor. Lol. Anyways, Quora levelled both my monsters (of course) and I lost the battle.

This is interesting, what is it about? Is it like an online game and how does it work?

Yeah it's an exciting game on Hive! It's a card game, so you'll be playing by selecting a card called a summoner, which will allow you to summon monsters to fight battles for you. You earn some crypto for playing this game too, so it's a double win. If you want to learn more about it, go here

You had a nice strategy bro but fighting against Quora is always very tough.

Using the stun monster was a nice touch it's just unfortunate it stepped into the first position too early. The first monster had no attack so it pretty much had no effect. Maybe if not for Quora you would have won.

I'm going to rent me a Quora too. Tired of this shit. 😂

Yheap. And that's another advantage of using Quora. It kills your line up so fast that whatever monster you're planning to use against it will die early, so that Quora will be free again.

😂😂 you can’t rent a Quora bro. Quora is a gladius card that can be obtained from a gladius case. And for that too you need “merits” to purchase a gladius case.

Well jokes on me then 😂 . I'll hit your WhatsApp later to interrogate you about this. It's getting embarassing talking about this for the whole world to see. 😂

I will,I remember writing a post about the games but there's nothing as good as getting into the games itself.

The disintegrator was the spoiler but keep playing , the games on Splinterlands are one of the best.

Haha actually my entire strategy was the spoiler. The outcome of the game normally depends on the strategy as a whole. If your strategy is solid, all your cards will pull their weight.

(Edited)

Once you see a Quora in the midst two Matyr cards, then you're done, unless you have a "kron the undying" and this still doesn't mean you'll win easily. But 90% of the time you'll lose to that strategy.

Plus you shouldn't use a melee card in a Thorn Ruleset. Magic and range monsters will be better.

Haha yeah I’ve learnt my lesson😅

I’ll have to read about this Kron the Undying. Sounds like it will be a formidable card.

It should be up to 18$ per BCX, I've lost to it like 7/10. It's a beastly card. If you use it with llama it's really difficult to kill it..

Damn! It costs a pretty penny. Is it possible to get it in a pack?

It's not a choas legion card. I think you can either buy or rent. Renting is cheaper sometimes. But keep exploring. Don't rent or buy yet. Make Sure to always join the fray and play in the guild too.

I fear playing in the guild right now because I’m afraid my battles might cost the guild ranking. But I’ll try.
