Fury of ranged attacks

Hello Battle Mage, welcome to another episode of battle mage secrets that I lost. I felt special pain because I honestly believed there was NO WAY my lineup could be beatable, but I was unpleasantly surprised.

Like many other lost battles, it was a learning experience as well. This week, I’m still experimenting on using Skorage with a couple of different monsters, and looking at the play out of this battle, the experiment did not yield positive results. Anyways, let’s take a look at the battle.

My Battle Strategy and Lineup

Summoner123456

I normally don’t like too much freedom when it comes to selecting my line up on splinterlands, cos then I get confused. But that was exactly what this battle presented. The mana cap for this battle was somewhat high, so I had the chance to splurge. Because the ruleset was also equalizer, I basically didn’t care about health anymore. Without restrictions, I could literally take any line up to battle. But whether I’ll win or not is another story.

I used Skargore as my summoner for the enrage ability it gives my monsters. Because I like using melee monsters, Skargor is one of my favorite summoners right now because of how useful the enrage is for them

I put Grum Flameblade in first position (as if that was a surprise. Lol). At this point, anyone that knows me knows what monster will be in my first position 80% of the time. It’s embarrassing to say, but it is what it is.

In second position, I put Radiated Brute for his reach and average melee attack. Once enraged, his melee attack of 3 will be a force to contend with.

In third position, I had Torch Vizier specifically for her incredible speed, but also her melee attack.

Of course I had to throw in Scavo Hireling. Who else would be repairing my Grum’s armor. I put Nimbledook Scout next to Scavo. This move was actually a mistake, because I was contemplating on picking Moxian Rebel and sandwiching her between Scavo and Nimbledook for weapons training, or picking Mad Ogre Anarchist. Running out of time, I hit Battle because it’ll be better to go to battle with a somewhat weak strategy than to surrender all together.

The Battle

I believe the ruleset used my Grum’s health as the highest health to equalize all monsters health to, and before the battle started, summoner buffs of General Sloan took effect.

Round 1

It was painful to see that even though my Grum buffed up like I wanted, in just round 1 he was overcome by the extreme force of my opponent’s ranged monsters.

My opponent’s team dealt a total attack power of 16 per round. You can see how that didn’t pan out well for Grum with only 10 health and 5 armor. He was taken out before he could attack even once.

It was only somewhere toward the ending of the round that my monster could inflict mild damage on my opponent’s tank….

Round 2

…Not that the damage dealt was even permanent, because my opponent had a healer on his team that patched his tank right up again, just as I was about to kill it.

Radiated Brute was also annihilated soon enough, moving Torch Vizier to tank. To be honest, I had very high hopes with Torch Vizier, because she was packing a good speed of 6! It turns out my opponent’s monsters had enough speed to make 6 speed look normal. So at the end of the second round, Torch Vizier was on her literal last life.

Round 3

Both Torch Vizier and Scavo who succeeded her were both killed in round 3, and the shocking and sad part was that my team was still not able to get past my opponent’s tank. It was embarrassing to say the least.

Round 4

Now, Nimbledook was my tank. My second tank without an attack. As you’d imagine, it wasn’t long before she was turned into past tense, getting replaced by Mad Ogre Anarchist, who fought valiantly until his end.

I felt very violated when the realisation hit me that my entire team was wiped out without me managing to at least take down my opponent’s tank with me.

If you studied the ruleset you'll realize you didn't have enough sneak attack and fire element wasn't the best element for this game
