Truly Enraged!

Hello Battle Mages, I couldn’t make an appearance in last week’s battle mage secrets challenge because I was Attending The Hive Tech Conference. So this week, I’m definitely back and in this post, I’m sharing one exciting battle I fought last night.

The excitement of the battle happens somewhere in the middle of the battle where my bloodlust shows why it is wise to fear monsters with bloodlust, as it gets enraged and kills its way through my opponent’s entire team! Anyways, without further ado, let’s get into the battle details

I saw that my opponent already liked using melee attack monsters, so they’d probably love the ruleset, considering that it gives melee monsters an advantage. I also made a prediction that my enemy will want to come to battle with armor since he knows I’ll probably come with melee monsters too. So because of that, I chose Conqueror Jacek for the pierce ability, so that even if they do come with armor, I won’t have to worry too much.

I particularly chose Conqueror Jacek specifically because I planned to use Grum Flamblade. With Grum’s might, it’ll be a pain to waste his 4 melee attack (or more in case he’s enraged) just to destroy an enemy monsters 1 armor. I have also realized in my short time playing Grum that his biggest weakness is his speed. I think I even wrote a post about it a while back. So the fact that Conqueror Jacek also grants friendly monsters +2 speed made a huge difference in deciding my line up.

In second position, I placed Torch Vizier. I was honestly conflicted whether to put her all the way in the back, cos considering that she had a speed of 4, getting enraged would mean she’d have a speed of 6 now, and I was almost sure with that much speed, she’ll be able to dodge a lot of opportunity or sneak attacks. But I also feared she’d be killed easily by sneak or opportunity because her health was only 4.

I ended up deciding to put Nimbledook Scout last so that if she manages to dodge any attack when enraged, she’ll deal back 2 melee damage to the attacker because of her backfire ability.

The Battle

There were a lot of buffs and debuffs that happened in this battle because the summoners we both chose granted loads of abilities to their friendly monsters. So the buffs took effect just before the battle began.

Round 1

Nimbledook Scout buffed up to a whooping speed of 9 early in the battle cos my opponent sneaked up on her. Surprising thing and twist is that even with that incredible speed, she wasn’t able to dodge anything. So sadly, she was killed in just the first round.

Round 2

In the next round, Torch Vizier was also killed. I honestly thought I lost the battle when I had only one monster left. But my one monster was not the average monster. It was Grum Fucking Flameblade!

After getting completely stripped of his armor and taking his first direct hit, it was go time! Grum buffed up by half speed and attack, now having an attack power of 6 and speed of 5. He then proceeded to knock out my opponent’s tank, buffing up all the way to 8 melee attack and 6 speed. I started getting some hope from here. Truth be told, I think this was what tipped the odds of the battle in my favor.

Round 3

From this point onward, I buffing up for every hit I made. This is where the pierce ability proved really useful. If I didn’t have it in this battle, I probably would’ve lost. Anyways, I buffed up again in this round after knocking out my enemy’s next tank, now having a melee attack of 9 and speed of 8.

Round 4 and 5

My opponent’s new tank was now a monster with stun ability. When I got stunned for the first time, I thought this was how I’d fall. But luckily for me, since stun works on odds/probability, their next hit didn’t stun me, so I did my thing – knocked that insolent fool right out. Hehe

Round 6 and 7

With a melee attack of 11 and speed of 9, I was unstoppable at this point. I killed my opponent’s next two tanks with single hits only.

Round 8

I realized here that if Grum didn’t have both the attack power and speed he had, my opponent’s last standing monster could’ve been his end. It had a speed of 7, so once enraged, it would’ve easily dodged most of Grum’s attack if Grum had anything below a speed of 4. Thankfully, Grum came prepared, so I took my opponent out completely and won the battle.
