BATTLE MAGE SECRETS: COUNTERSPELL IN WANDS OUT BATTLE

Hello Hivers, welcome back my weekly Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS and today topic is about COUNTERSPELL ruleset.

COUNTERSPELL Ruleset is a ruleset which all magic attacks will be reflected. Yes,the ruleset gives all the monsters on the battle field a Magic Reflect ability. All monsters will return the magic damage their receive equal to the damage they receive divided by 2, and it is rounded up. This soundss bad isn't it, however there are a couple of ways to avoid taking reflected magic damage in this rulesets:
- Using Reflecton shield ability, this ability makes the monsters immune to reflected magic attacks
- Using a void ability, if the returned magic damage is equal to 1 damage, it can not hurt the monsters who have void ability.
So magic sounds like a big no in this ruleset. But what happens if we have to use magic during Counterspell ruleset? let's check it out!!!
THE BATTLE RULESET

We had 3 rulesets here, Equalizer Ruleset, Wand Out Ruleset and Counterspell Ruleset. This combination of Wnd Out (magic only monsters) and Counterspell (magic reflect on all monsters) is a very interesting one. So we had to use Mages and they kept taking damage for themselves. To adapt with this ruleset, I will use Void Dragon as my main tank:

Void Dragon is a Mage Dragon who is an anti magic tank too. I think the choice is between Void Dragon or Djinn Oshannus. The Reason why I choose Void Dragon because I want to use Djinn Renova, a Triage Healer Mage from Life element.
Djinn Renova and Spirit Hoarder are the keys in this battle. We have Equalizer ruleset, which all of the monsters will have same health points. With all HP are the same, the one who can heal more will have the advantages. I can not pick Water element because I can only use Spirit Hoarder only in that Water Element.

I hope these two can carry up the team. And my last one is my trump card. It's not a strong one, but he has the ability that can turn the tide. He is Venari Spellsmith.

Venari Spellsmith has that Amplify Ability, it will rise 1 more damage to the reflected magic damage. Most of the time people will forget about it because none wants to go with magic team during Counterspell ruleset, however this is an odd one because we have Wands Out ruleset that rules out all non magic monsters
let see how this goes:
THE BATTLE
This was a Diamond League Modern Rank Battle, however both of us battling with Silver level monsters and gold Level monsters. My opponent although came with lesser level summoner, however he had Bortus which was a perfect summoner for this ruleset. Let'see how this would progress
ROUND 1

- The battle started with both of us Buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents.
- My opponent came with 13 magic damage per round.
- My team had 8 magic Damage per round.
- This would be a tight game with both of us came with similar tactic, My team had a better recovery rate however their team had a stronger firepower.
ROUND 2

- None died in the first round, this turned out to be a contest of endurance. I could only deliver 2 damage per round to their Djinn Oshannus because of his Bortus ability, however their backline monsters taking more reflected magic damage.
ROUND 3

- Things did not change much from round 2.
ROUND 4

- Not much different too with round 3. I am speeding forward this battle.

ROUND 7

- Somehow round 7 started with 4 vs 6 condiiton. they had more monsters than me, two of my main tank fell down.
ROUND 8

- My team managed to catch up the gap, now the gap got lessen.
ROUND 9

- Now it's equal 3 vs 3 and my team looked healthier than their half death squad.
ROUND 10

- This was the last round, good game

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION
This was an odd ruleset however this kind of battle always made us fascinated. My opponent was leading in the beginning, then they fell apart later. there were a few points we could take from this Counterspell ruleset:
1. AMPLIFY PLAYS GREAT PART
Most people do not like Amplify ability because the monsters who have it usually a regular one, not a special or super strong monsters. In this case, Venari Spellsmith, which in general no way we will put him as our main or core monsters.
However in this battle, Veenari Spellsmith was the MVP. In fact I admitted I put him on wrong order, should have put him on the rear position, not on 3rd one.
2. EQUALIZER IS A CONTEST OF HEALING
I keep saying in some of my post, when you have an Equalizer ruleset, the battle could turn up into a a healing contest. Who has a better or higher healing, will win the battle.
Although it is not fully working like that, in this battle one of the reason I win is because I have better healing due to having 2 monsters with triage. My opponent definitely has better line up, however he has only Spirit Hoarder who does the triage.
3. LEVEL IS IMPORTANT HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT ALL ABOUT IT
Actually we can blame my opponent not coming with max level monsters while we were playing in Diamond League, but that's how things happened in the highest league. Sometime they were not available in rental market, or they were available but the price was very expensive and ridiculous.
So it's natural to fight with your affordable budget only. I played using a gold cap monsters, didn't I? So don't bother a lot about level gap in Diamond League, all of us there already know that risk. What important is we can get the best line up in each of the battles we have.
4. PHASE AND MAGIC REFLECT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER
It seemed that phase ability (dodge the magic attack) and magic reflect ability (returning magic damage to the attacker) compliment each other in this battle. It prolonged the lifespan of our tank when there wasn't any single tank healer available. Sometime that's what a tank must do, to stand on his ground as long as possible enduring all the incoming attacks
Ok that's all for today post. Have fun with your COUNTERSPELL battles!!
