BATTLE MAGE SECRETS: HIT HARD DURING COUNTERSPELL

avatar

Hello how are you my fellow Splinterlands players

It's been a long time since I have time to play Splinterlands again, and I am glad recently I have some spare time to play this game again. So today finally I am able to join in again with our weekly Splinterlands Battle Mage Secret challenge. Our topic right now is Counterspell, and from my opinion, this is a decisive ruleset that you might need to pay and extra attention on it.

Counterspell is a ruleset that gives all unit on the battlefield a magic reflect ability at the start. So attacking your opponent with magics definitely won't be a wise move. There are some approach we can use during this ruleset, but in this post I will do the very basic one. HIT HARD!!

Because I have been away from writing Splinterlands post for a long time, making this one again is a bit awkward right now. So I might be very direct and specific here. I won't use any mages, and my focus is to get big melee hitters.

THE BATTLE

This was a Gold League battle of Wild Format. I was using @Blackkrrsantan, a Scholarship account for Juice Guild from bulldog1205 one of our famous streamer. You can check his account and his twitter too, recently he share many contents outside his youtube channel.

The ruleset was simple but its very tricky. I could only pick earth element so I believed I would meet an Immortalis there. So Having hardest hitter available was definitely a no brainer move. Ok lets set my line up first:

  1. 43 mana cap, we should get a 6 units team at any cost.
  2. I saw no point going with Obsidian, so the only option I had was Lobb Lowland. I would expect Immortalis from their side.

So this was how the battle went:

  • The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. As I had expected before, Immortalis was on their side.
  • My opponent had 3 melee damge, 7 magic damage and 6 range damage. It's a combined 15 damage per round.
  • My team had 19 damage per round. so we were a melee only team.
  • I was happy with my selection because my opponent came with exactly what I would anticipated before.

  • We killed their Runemancer Fiore in the first round, thats why Round 2 started with 5 vs 6 condition.

image.png

  • Round 3 we started to see the gap. 4 vs 5 now. I lost Pelacor Mercenary but they lost their Gem Meteor. Based on the health point remaining, they were looked very bad.

  • My Disintegrator did the trample, killing Regal Peryton and Djinn Muirat. It seemed over for them, 2 vs 5.

  • And yes it is over, Good Game

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

As expected, I won comfortably in that battle. My opponent picked one of the best summoner, Immortalis, however it ended as their lost.

Immortalis was indeed very strong, so why did he lose then? Well of course because my plan worked well.

  1. I focus on melee only, exploiting Super Sneak ruleset. Maybe without that ruleset, my opponent in general was better.
  2. I said I will focus on big damage. I knew thick armor meant nothing against immortalis, so my focus was only for delivering as big damage as I could.

image.png

Even until the end of the battle, my team was delivering 16 melee damage to their backline. This was my meta, focusing big melee damage. And the main reason why I won that battle. If I have a thought about defending, setting some units with good armors, I might lost with a silly way.

ok that's for today, Have fun with Counterspell ruleset. And please and don't forget to leave your comment or feedback below. thank you.
