BATTLE MAGE SECRETS: QUORA AGAINST THE UNPROTECTEDS

unprotected quora.png

Hello Hivians and Hivers,

Welcome back to my Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS challenge. This week we have Unprotected ruleset as our main theme and as usual my second post will be something about Quora Towershead.

Unprotected is a ruleset which removes all armor from all units in the battlefield. Not only removing armor, it forbids all units to get/gain armors. So no more armors and thats why it is called unprotected. Units which have void armors will suffer the most. And because this is my second post about unprotected, I would not go detail about the ruleset here.

Some of you might think why I always have Quora Towershead on my second post. Well she is indeed an Over Powered one, but that is not my main reason. I like to include her because she is a soulbound card, a gladius edition. We do not need to spend any money to get her.

Part of the goals in joining Splinterlands Weekly Challenges is to spread good things about this game. I am not a big budgeted player so I want people like me to believe that in Splinterlands money can get you a sure win position. Playing with souldbound cards is one of the most basic way telling people about this.

So how will my Quora Towershead play today? let's check it now!

THE BATTLE

~Click The Image Above To See the Full Battle~

The ruleset was simple, unprotected 39 mana cap battle. of course this was simple, its a modern format bronze league battle. As you can see, my formation was simple:

  1. My team did not have any fancy units
  2. My Meta was all about Quora, the rest were her supports.

So this was how the battle went:

image.png

  • The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. My Opponent was lead by that Llama, it would be a big headache for me
  • My opponent came with 5 Melee damage and 5 magic damage, Combined, they became 10 damage per round.
  • My team had 1 range damage and 7 magic damageper round. It's a combined 8 damage per round, smaller than my opponent fire power.
  • This was a quantity vs quality battle, 6 units vs 4 great units. This battle should be an interesting one.

  • Round 1 was a win for me. They killed my Venari marksrat and this made my Quora got a buff up from martyr. Later their Behemoth and their Grund missed one hit because my Quora was faster than them.
  • My Quora killed their Grund. Bloodlust activated, she became stronger again.

image.png

  • Round 3 started with 3 vs 5 Condition, however My Quora seemed unharmed here whilst their Behemoth struggling to survive.
  • As expected, Quora Towershead killed the behemoth and again got a buff up.

image.png

  • Round 4 started with their Kron The Undying got massive buff from last stand ability. However he did not appear that scary because my Quora Towershead was as same as him.

image.png

  • Kron with Last Stand ability activated was a super strong one, he survived round 4th however he did not last this round. My Quora Towershead killed him in the first move.
  • This was the last round, good game.

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

In the past, having Llama + Kron was almost a sure win meta in Bronze League. The reason was simple, a Kron with Last Stand ability activated was too much for any units available.

However the existence of soulbound, especially Lobb Lowland who could bring out Quora changed everything...

as you can see above, when their Kron got the last stand, My Quora Towershead could keep up against him.

This is my first point about Quora in this post, she could defeat the myth of an OP meta.

SPEED MATTERS MOST

In my first post, I talked about Speed Matters Most. The same as this post too. The reason why I believed Quora could lead her team is because of Speed. Lobb Lowland gives -1 speed debuff to his opponent and Quora speed is not slow either. This combination makes Quora Towershead moves first against most opponents, which means she makes the kills first, gets buff from bloodlust, making her harder to be killed.

Sometime in unprotected ruleset, it is not delivering the hardest punch or the biggest firepower. It's about killing first before getting killed. 6 melee damage and 2 melee damage are the same if your opponent only have 1 health point. Even higher damage should be anticipated because your opponent might try to trap you using forcefield

MAGIC IS OK

This idea is a very debatable topic, however I often do this and I see many do this too. For example, this battle both of us came with magic focused rather than physical attacks.

The reason is simple, sometime we believe more people focus on defending their units from physical damage because of no armor at all. They go with shield, or dodge and fly to make some attacks failed to land.

Can they do that against magic attacks? No for sure... so why not ignore it and bump them with some magic squad? Like I said earlier, this is debatable but I often find this one helpful.

ok that's for today, Have fun with Unprotected ruleset. And please and don't forget to leave your comment or feedback below. thank you.
