Hello We meet again my fellow Splinterlands players

This time is just another day, but I have another weekly Splinterlands Battle Mage Secret challenge. Still the same as yesterday, we are having BACK TO BASIC Ruleset as our theme.

BACK TO BASIC is a ruleset that makes all unit lose their abilities. So only summoners abilities that are effective in the battle. We have talked a lot about this one on my previous post, so this time I will share about another approach that mostly I use when I have this ruleset.

Because only summoners ability that are active, so my focus is about having our best summoners, which are the LEGENDARY SUMMONERS. How will this go? let's check it guys

THE BATTLE

This was a Gold League battle of Wild Format. I was using @Blackkrrsantan, a Scholarship account for Juice Guild from bulldog1205 one of our famous streamer. You can check his account and his twitter too, recently he share many contents outside his youtube channel.

The ruleset was very tricky, it had decent mana cap but not big enough to house in some big units. The Dragon was no available and there was Water element there. I needed to be precautious about having Possibilus the Wise as my opponent. As usual I choses Grandmaster Rathe because He was quite anti magic, and this was how the battle went:

• The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. Both of us were using anti magic Summoners, but mine was the legendary summoner one.
• My opponent had 3 melee damage, 5 range damage and 3 magic damage. It's a 11 damage per round.
• My team had 3 melee damage, 6 range damage 1 magic damage. Combined all, they became 10 damage per round.
• Actually both of us using similar approach, we brought some range and mage to combine our attack type.

• Round 2 started with 5 vs 6 condition, My team managed to take the lead.

• They managed to catch up on the round 2, making round 3 started with 5 vs 5 condition. This was all due to their Pelacor Deceiver who had big health and dodged one attack.

• I got the lead back starting from the beginning of round 4. Everything look similar, mage tank and bunch of range units. However my team speed was a lot faster

• Round 5 was the last one. Good Game

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

The battle was won not by a big margin, so I believed both side were performing quite well. In general, we could say that the reason they lost was because of my range attacks. I believe they did not expected that, shown by their two melee tanks did not have any armor... or we can say armorless tank.

But is that the key winning point? there are others, let see them:

1 SPEED Decides The Winner

If we talk about the major decisive point in that battle, the answer is the speed. My team overall were faster than their units. to put it worse, I have Ajax Lightfoot who moved very fast, move first... Yes he did not have that bloodlust ability due to Back to Basic, but for a 29 mana cap battle, he was very dangerous.

Move first and kill first, especially when your opponent do not expect you will gamble with bringing a bunch or range units.

2. More Abilities in Summoner

When everything goes to ability-less, and only summoners who still have those... it can be said that it's not wrong... not 100% right but its ok to say that Summoners will be the everything in the battle.

In this case, my summoner gave 3 abilities to all of his units, their summoner gave only 2 buffs. Well I know it is not that simple, but for a simplify reasoning, I think it's ok to say things like that. Make sure you have a Legendary Summoner, such as Grandmaster Rathe, Possibilus the wise or others, to help you out during Back To Basic.
