BATTLE MAGE SECRETS: TAKING WATER ON TAKING SIDES BUT RNG RUINED IT

avatar

Hello my fellow Splinterlands players, Welcome back again to my weekly Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS challenge. This week we have TAKING SIDE ruleset as our main theme so we will discuss about a battle with that ruleset.

Taking Sides is a ruleset which forbids all neutral element units to take part in the battle. Both side won't be able to put in any neutral units into their line up. When we have this ruleset, usually there are two things that become our priorities:

  1. The Other Ruleset. Because both party won't be able to pick any neutral cads, better we focus on the other rulesets.
  2. The Element We Have More. Sometime rather than trying to counter opponents card, better we pick element we have more, in term of more untamed set, better soulbound cards, and riftwatchers set

Personally I prefer directly to go with water element. Water can be played for a melee focused, range focused or magics. So It's hard to predict what kind of meta I will come with Water, however this won't be a guarantee that water is the strongest. Every meta can be countered!!

THE BATTLE

~Click The Image Above To See the Full Battle~

This was a modern format Silver League battle and I was playing my an account BLACKKRRSANTAN from bulldog1205 the streamer. I should play at Gold League however I was innactive for several days and somehow due to those inactive days this account was relegated to silver league.

The ruleset were simple, a TAKING SIDES and a SILENCED SUMONER. So as usuall I will go with Water Element and have my team set without thinking about Keyla Frendul abilities... because she got muted.

So this was how the battle went:

image.png

  • The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents.
  • My opponent came with 10 Melee damage, 2 magic damage, and 1 range damage. All together, they became 13 damage per round.
  • My team had 15 melee damage per round.
  • My team was a full melee line up and we had better speed than theirs. We should take this battle easily

image.png

  • Each team lost a member in the first round. Well my team killed their Stitch Leech twice, draining the resurrect ability from Adelade Brightwing.
  • Somehow my attacks kept missing, this turned to a bizzare battle

image.png

  • My team was still leading this point, but things went more crazy, I kept missing my target although they only had 5% dodging chance.

image.png

  • They chased up the gap, I hoped my team could recover from the bad lucks.

image.png

  • Round 5, things changed drastically. It looked bad on my side now.

image.png

  • on round six, I had no more optimism to win the battle

image.png

  • 2 vs 2 however their Uriel the Purifier was definitely unbeatable now.

  • Good game.

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

I was happy with the line up and my strategy worked well. This might sound silly, I lost but I kept saying my strategy worked well. Well here were the facts:

1. My deeplurker flopped badly in RNG

deeplurker miss 2nd round.gif

He could not even hit that Adelade Brightwing. He was faster by 2 points and flying ability only gave 25% evasive rate. So Adelade only had 5% chance of dodging and she made that bet.

2. Diemonshark became an Asian Carp

diemon miss 3rd round.gif

diemon miss 4th round.gif

Did my math go wrong? Diemonshark had 3 speed above Uriel, he should be able to hit 100%. but he kept missing it. Seriously, that was supposed to be 100% accuracy.

  1. PEACE LOVING TIDE BITTER

I did not know what happen with my Tide Bitter. He could not even land one single hit, and the odds was not that bad. He was faster than his opponent, his opponent who was Uriel The Purifier had a flying ability. that supposed to be 15% evasion rate, not 15% hitting accuracy.

Well sometime Splinterlands went like this, RNG really bad even what I thought 100% became 0. A bad result however as long we are making good lineup, result won't lie in longer run. My Meta worked well in this battle, using Water Element full melee party meta.

ok that's for today, Have fun with Taking Sides ruleset. And please and don't forget to leave your comment or feedback below. thank you.
