CHAIN SPINNER : KILLING THE LAST STAND KRON THE UNDYING
Shorten Lore:
Chain Spinners of the Order never show their faces. They were only recently released from Cloudgard Castle, where they were specially trained to hunt down and bring to justice all members of the rebellious sect known as Peacebringers.
Hi everyone, welcome back to my Splinterlands weekly battle challenge. This week instead of following the original weekly theme VENARI KNIFER, I have decided to use CHAIN SPINNER from LIFE ELEMENT REWARD edition as our main theme. This monster is not famous, rarely we see him in any battles however that fact doesn't mean this monsters is useless. I am quite a fan of this monster although I admit I don't use him frequently.
Ok Let's see his stats first....
QUICK INSIGHT ON CHAIN SPINNER
At first glance, this monster seems like a weak tank. Low melee damage, low speed, and low health. Regarding not many people like to use this monster, It's not wrong to say CHAIN SPINNER is not strong.
However no matter how weak he is, one thing we can not deny is that CHAIN SPINNER is one of the monsters who has VOID ARMOR ability with the highest armor in this game. The higher level it gets, the more ridiculous armor it has. So I think I can say he is one of best Void Armor based monsters.
His strong points are these:
- During Healing Out ruleset, Chain Spinner can be a great tank because repair ability will keep him alive as long as possible.
- Alternative anti magic tank in Life Element
- His 3 health is actually a selling point for him. During Equal Opportunity ruleset, opponents will aim him first, this makes other small health point allies safe.
His weak points are these:
- 3 Health points, he is vulnerable to poison ability.
- CHAIN SPINNER is not versatile, he is excellent during certain ruleset and certain opponents. Other than that, for general purpose, there are many better tanks can outperform him.
THE HUNT FOR KRON THE UNDYING
Usually I talk about battle preparation, but this time I want to show how good CHAIN SPINNER as anti magic tank by challenging a KRON with last stand ability.
I got an opponent with nasty formation. 23 Mana cap and he brought Flesh Golem and Kron the Undying. Last Stand will make any of those two become OVER POWERED, and many players use this tactic in BRONZE-SILVER leagues.
So here was my line up to counter that Llama Spammer:
Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Summoner | +1 range | I am no fond of Sloan however against a Kron with ridiculous 6 health regeneration, I need to build up attack damage and only sloan can help that | |
Main Tank | Void Armor | Our hero this week. Let's hope this battle challenge can inspire people to use Chain Spinner more often | |
Second | Fly, Repair, Resurrection | The first support, her Resurrection ability will be the most crucial in this battle. Incase Chain Spinner gets killed, she will hold the second round by resurrects him | |
Third | Cleanse | Extra hitter with 2 mana cost. I was confused that time whether to go with herbalist, Xenith Archers, or Celestial Harpy because all of them can deliver 2 damage | |
The Last | Snipe, Repair | This is the second most important monsters after Chain Spinner. First He will repair any damaged armors and he has armor which mean he can withstand sneak attack. We can say he is the backline tank too |
Let see how this battle went off

Round 1
- The game started as both party buffing and debuffing their monsters and opponent's monsters.
- My opponent total damage was not important on this stage. We would see the danger later
- My team had 2 melee damage, 5 range damage and 2 magic damage. Combined all became
9 damage. This should be enough to kill the horrifying Kron later. - I was lucky they don't use any Sniping monsters
- His Fungus Fiend died in the first round
Round 2 to 5
- This is almost turn to a long boring fight with both parties almost deal and heal damage similarly.
- My team needed 3 turns to kill his Flesh Golem. He kept healing himself and My Lone Boatman sniped Kron for nothing.
- Finally on the 5th turn, Kron got the Last Stand ability activiated
Round 6 to 9
- Kron with Last Stand ability activated was a nasty monsters, kept healing 6 points per turn
- No matter how strong Kron was, he could not kill Chain Spinner.
- After 3 turn, he died.
Battle Discussion
There are several way to defeat Kron, however on lower League most abilities haven't been awaken yet. The most feasible way to defeat kron is by doing these things:
- Get a tank with void armor ability, and a support monsters with a repair ability
- Build up a team with at least 7 damage per turn, make sure non of them died before Kron died.
In this battle, CHAIN SPINNER showed how well he could perform for those two points.
You can pick any anti magic tank that are way better than Chain Spinner, however against KRON, most of them will falter apart.

Most players lose with this llama card, but you setup a good team, armor repair is a good ability. It was good that none of them had sneak or snipe ability.

yes true, but mostly Llama+Kron spammers don't think too much in lower league

Good Work!
Double (void) armor repair was a nice play and pulled out that victory in style. Sharing this on https://twitter.com/PraetoriaDigest.
thank you
