Common Mistakes in Using Possibilus The Wise

Hi everyone, welcome back to my Splinterlands post. Initially I want to share about how I have been beating up bots who are learning how to use our New Legendary Summoner, POSSIBILIUS THE WISE. I think everyone agree recently there are many stupid bots using this Possibilus and end up losing badly.

This is for example, how I meet them back to back and get some easy wins.

However due to recent situation which we see many people talking badly about Bots and Splinterlands no matter where they are whether in Discord, Twitter and Youtube... I decide to put aside the bots thing and try to focus on the Possibilus only. So that's how we get our topic in this post which is":

WHY SOME PEOPLE CAN'T USE POSSIBILIUS THE WISE

POSSIBILUS THE WISE

image.png

Possibilus The Wise is the third Legendary Summonner Airdrop card from Chaos Legion. Personally I think Possibilus is the weakest among those three, however it doesn't mean he is weak. It's just the other two are a bit Overpowered compared to other summoners including some of Untamed Legendary Summoners. In general Possibilus The Wise is still a great summoner, because he has these three abilities:

  1. +2 Health. All friendly monsters have +2 Health
  2. Trample. All friendly monsters receive the trample ability at the start of the battle, which affect only Melee attacks (ranged and magic attacks do not trample)
  3. Reach. All friendly monsters receive the reach ability at the start of the battle, which affects only Melee Attacks (since Ranged and Magic attacks can already be used from the second position)

These three abilities although they are good, are the main cause why some people misled about how to use this great summoner in the proper way. we know that two of Possibilus's abilities are for Melee Monsters only, the Trample ability and the Reach ability. With these two, We can set double Melee tanks formation in front without having to worry one of them can not attack. Many people somehow take this differently, and think Possbilus is great for Melee Only battle

During up Close and Personal Ruleset (Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles.) Possibilus is helping all his monsters by giving trample and reach abilities, however there are many other Summoners who might be better than him. Mylor with Thorn, Conqueror Jacek with his Piercing ability and 2 speed buff, Crypt Mancer, Lux Vega and some other who might I have missed.

The second problem which most bots people forget is his +2 Health buff. Some people forget to exploit this buff for his own sake. 2 health is good , we can say it buys 1 turn on Nuxious Fume (Poison) ruleset or increase the efficiency of Healing, Tank Heal and Triage Ability.

The next part of this post, I will share these two mistake in battle examples

MISTAKE #1, MELEE ONLY IS NOT POSSIBILUS FORTE!!

I got this battle from modern format Silver league rank battle. Sometime I have Mylor in my team incase I get a Up Close and Personal (Melee only) Ruleset. I can not have level 4 Mylor because the rent price always be ridiculous. That time I met this level 1 Possibilus the Wise which make us on even ground with both parties were on max level bronze cap.

Because this is not a share your battle challenge, I won't describe my line up in detail. My line up was built with this following plan:

  • I was building my Mylor team with Disintegrator as my core, so I put him in the middle
  • My team would play passively, we would stand and do nothing and let they killed themselves with our Thorn Ability.

Round 1 - Kick Off

image.png

  • This battle started by each parties buffed and debuffed monsters.
  • My opponent came with 9 effective melee damage per turn.
  • My team had 3 effective Melee Damage per turn only.
  • Basically my team was like punching bag, waiting to be hit first then gave them the Thorn Damage. One thing that worried me that all of their monsters had decent Health point thanks to Possibilus The Wise

mylor1.gif

  • The battle got started by Diemonshark made an initial attack.
  • My team was static, only Mycelic Infantry made the attack.
  • Their deep lurker and Parasitic Growth attacked my Disintegrator. This was the point I realized I should put Disintegrator on the 5th position, which was safer against Opportunist attackers.

Round 2 - One down for both team

mylor2.gif

  • Finally their Deeplurker killed my Disintegrator. This was a heavy blow for my team, which I lost my core monster.
  • Later on, my Mycelic Infantry killed their main tank, Legionnaire Alvar. It's back to 5 vs 5

Round 3 - Possibilus Team Leading

mylor3.gif

  • Without Disintegrator, my team got weakened badly.
  • I lost two of my monsters due to opponent heavy attacks. Now It became 3 vs 5, Possibilus team seemed stronger.

Round 4 - Their turn, losing their 2nd and 3rd Tank

mylor4.gif

  • This time my turn to show off, My Grund killed both of their tank, Deeplurker and Flying Squid.
  • Again this round their Deeplurker made a kill, killing my Grund.

Round 5 - Goodbye Deeplurker

mylor5.gif

  • Finally their Deeplurker was down in this round. No more notable threat.

Round 6 - The ned

mylor6.gif

  • Although it's 2 vs 1, without heavy hitter Deeplurker, my Venari Knifer could defeat the last two opponents alone.

MISTAKE #2, High Health, then what? No healing or any kind of Defense system?

For the second battle, I will make things short to reduce the post size. Else even myself could not open the post on my mobile phone data 🤣

In this battle, my opponent looked a lot more stronger thanks to their +2 health. Overall their Health point was huge, almost doubled mine

Round 2

image.png

Round 2 started with 2 of my team members died in the previous round. meanwhile their team was lively, only Alvar who was half injured. My team had an upperhand from having higher level however their team had higher attributes and attack power which make this round started with their big advantages

Round 3

image.png

This round started with 3 vs 5 condition. They seemed to be still leading the battle.

Round 4

image.png

It's 3 vs 4 now. My team was still the same however their team was started to fall apart.

Round 5

image.png

Now it;s 3 vs 3 but my team looked solid and their team had no chance to reverse the odds.

Round 6

image.png

It's the end.

BATTLE DISCUSSION, WHY DID THEY LOSE?

I gave two battle examples and both of my opponents who used Possibilus came strong regardless they had lower level or not. So why did they lose anyway?

MYLOR IS SUPER STRONG IN UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL RULESET

Possibilus is great,he can keep his team competing with Mylor however in Melee only Situation, hard to see how Possibilus could defeat Mylor.

I was very careless, made a grave mistake letting my Disintegrator got killed first. Technically I should lose that battle right away however Mylor Thorn destroyed all Possibilus squad.

Keep in mind that Possibilus is not all about Melee monsters.

Get Yourself a Great Systematic Backline

Possibilus +2 Health buff is great buff however often makes people lazy thinking about defense. They only think about attack attack and attacks. There are two points we can learn from the second battle

  1. Without Healing and Support (resurrect, repair, etc) There will be a point which your opponent somehow can reverse the condition. Opponent Possibilus was leading on the first 2 rounds however my team kept healing Bila and the Possibilus team losing out their endurance.
  2. Speed debuff. Having strong attacks and high health would mean nothing if you can hit your opponent or your opponent always move faster than you. The second battle I won by a speed contest, which was not seen initially but after their tank gone, the rest of the team were fallen apart badly because they only could hit hard, and kept missing their target.

So this is the point for you who just started to learn using Possibilus, or maybe you are a Bot Lords. Possibilus is not about having Melee only team and please have a strong supportive backline.

Thank you for this very detailed explanation. I have never heard of Posdiblus the wise, but now I would like to get him.
Question:
I noticed one of you Venari has thorn, is this additive to myeloma crawly thorn damage?
Thanks
