Equal Opportunity: Setting Que, Make The Order List Who To Be Killed First

avatar

Hello there my fellow Splinterlands players

As usual on weekend I am posting a Splinterlands post. This one is about Equal Opportunity, a ruleset that gives all units in the battle field Opportunity ability... Which mean everyone can attack include melee units, and all will seek the lowest health opponents.

Currently the most popular way to exploit this ruleset is to bring your bait, the martyr. Let Martyr dies first, so the units will buff up the adjacent units then start the heavy retaliation.

However recently I see people keep forgetting one because the martyrs method pampers them. It is setting the order of death, which mean you decide which unit should be killed first, then second, and so on... Not your target, but your team...

Because Battle Mage Secret is about showcasing our battle, I will make my intro short, and let's check out my battle

THE BATTLE PREPARATION

I pick a battle with these rulesets below...

Because of the new rules, where we are playing is not important anymore. We can bring out all our units on their level, the league won't limit your selection anymore. So the battle is harder to be read. However this new rules did not work here, because this was a BRAWL!!

In this battle, there were only range units who could be selected. So my core selection should be either Drybone Raider or Tatiana Blayde. Both were the best on this type of battle, however with 43 mana I believed I would not be able to pick both of them... I could, but my team would be wonky and ended up losing.

In term of attack power, Drybone Raider was the best choice. She would hit four times, due to her double strike.

Tatiana Blayde was not as strong as Drybone Raider, however she was very fast and had that bloodlust ability.

These two made me confused so I decided to pick the crazy way.... Brought both into my line up. This sounded bad, however I decided that way, so I had to make the list of death que first... picking another units to be killed so my 2 core units could survive longer.

ok let see how this would go

THE BATTLE PROGRESS

ok my selection was a bit bizzare... I should have picked Quix The Devious too because it delivered two of effective debuff which very fit into the ruleset. However I picked another approach, which was health modifier... Tarsa gave buff 1 health to my team and The Molten Ash Golem had that weaken ability which debuff 1 health to all opponents.

Well I might be drunk that time, that's the easiest excuse... However the real reasons was because of bad experience slaughtered by Edith Emberstar. She was a so so unit, not great however if you got the right ruleset and "CLICKED" with the team, she became insanely dreadful!!

So that health modifier was to make my units would not be sweep by a single attack from her or similar units like her. But there was another catch here, I brought my 2 core selections who had a melee attack, right?

Ok let see how this battle progressed

  • The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. Overall my opponent had higher level than me, and he had those two Rebellion Units.
  • In term of fire power, my opponent had 3 melee damge, 1 magic damage and 8 range damage. It's a combined 12 damage per round and an extra 2 range damage from pelacor arbalest double strike.
  • My team had 7 melee damage and 9 range damage per round. it a combined 16 damage per round, with and extra 1 range damage and 3 melee damage from Drybone Barbarian double strike.
  • It's still hard to gauge which side were better, because their side had a couple units with dodge ability... dodge was a game changer... if worked..

  • Both of us lost two units and both of us had our Tatiana Blayde buffed up from bloodlust due to killing opponent. However their Tatiana looked stronger because mine got -2 range debuff.
  • However in this second round, everything changed... My Tatiana got a kill and buffed up... which created a massive gap in the next round

  • The condition at the start of round 3 was bad, because my 2 core units were at their fullest whilst opponent dying. And this was the last round

  • Good Game

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION

Easy to say this: My startegy worked and I won greatly. There are several points we can take from this battle:

First Overall both of our lineup are good, however mine are better suitable for the rulesets. Their mistake lies in 3 units. These three stooges cost them the lose.

During the equal opportunity, most of the time we need to realize that low health unit are bound to be killed, very hard to guard them. These units are easily turned to be food for bloodlust units. In this battle, they feeded my Tatiana Blayde and thats made them lost badly.

The second problem they have is not to push more on the speed. They should bring Supply Runner, with his +1 speed from swiftness ability, its more dangerous than tank heal from Venary Chrystalsmith... Why would you heal your tank if the one who get attacked are your backline? and that 1-2 speed difference is very crucial especially when your units have dodge, fly, or backfire ability.

How about my tactics? Well they are so so, not great, but proven working well in that battle. To counter my tactic is simple, have yourself better speed, move first to kill my units first or try to dodge that melee attacks.

Ok thats for today post. Thank you for reading my writings here and have fun with Splinterlands!!!
