GRUND: Fearsome Double Striker
Hi everyone, Welcome back again to my Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge. This Week we have GRUND as our theme, a muscular ??turtle?? from Earth Element Chaos Legion Edition. Because in the last couple of share your battle I used different monsters from the official theme, this time I will force myself to use the official one. And of course, I use the standard thumbnail from the official post too, although personally I like my own thumb design better than the official one, because it differs me from the other.
Shorten Lore: Grund is well loved amongst the people of Praetoria and he is a staunch defender of them, his strong ideals of honour and justice infused within in from a young age. When he heard of the Chaos Legion invasion, Grund took up his hammers in anger and sought them out immediately.

Grund is a true melee attacker, he has good melee damage and speed from the start. Later on the Gold Level, he will get new ability which is Trample. This ability will give him an extra attack again if he kills his target.
In this share a battle challenge, I wanted to highlight his ability which make him one of the best striker from Chaos Legion Edition. It's too bad the summoner I have won't support it, because Obsidian is a magic oriented one. but let see how it goes.
THE BATTLE
I took this simple battle from Modern Format Gold League. I was using that Black Santan guy, its a Scholarship Account. The ruleset that I was looking for was STAMPEDE.
In general, picking a 10 mana monster into a 23 mana battle is not a bright one. A suicidal precisely, however I had a strong believe that Double Strike + Trample supported by Stampede ruleset would be an insane sighting in this battle. so here is my lineup:
| Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | ![]() | +1 Magic | I like Obsidian a lot, she is a powerful summoner who boosts up mages. However this time I would not need her +1 magic damage buff, I just need her to summon our GRUND |
| Main Tank | ![]() | Double Strike, Trample | Our main theme this week. I wanted to see him swinging his hammers continuously until all opponents wiped out. |
| Second | ![]() | none | A 0 mana filler. Incase opponent using a blast attack, it won't hurt my third monster directly. Fiend is a good bait for opponent opportunist attacker. |
| Third | ![]() | Protect, Amplify, Triage | I need her protect ability, +2 armor to all allies. We had a scatter shot ruleset here, so we don't know who gets hit first. A protect ability will be significantly important here. |
| Fourth | ![]() | Sneak, Poison | He is my Plan B monster incase somehow GRUND fails miserably. Uraeus in Gold League is lethal, a poison on backline is uncureable. |
| Fifth | ![]() | none | or a two mana monster, her stats is good. I put her behind incase I get a Uraeus vs Uraeus battle, my Uraeus won't be hit first. |
Round 1

- This battle started by each parties buffed and debuffed monsters.
- My opponent came with 9 range damage. They were all archers team and they managed to build up a great speedy team.
- My team had 5 melee damage, 2 range damage and 2 magic damage. Total damage was the same 9 damage per turn. However I had Grun with his double trampling strike!
- all I need to do is to kill their first 2 tanks as fast as possible, else they would eliminate my team by sending a storm of arrows

- The battle was one sided with my opponent dominated the speed.
- Grun launched his double strike, first strike was missed and the second one landed killing their Chaos Agent.
- Stampede ruleset made Grun attacked again, his third strike missed. Venari Heatsmith dodged it.
Round 2

- This time Grund missed his first attack again. He only destroyed Venari Heatsmith armor with his second attack.
Round 3

- Again Grun missed his first strike, his second landed and killing Venari Heatsmith
- Grun launched his third to Molten Ash Golem, however this fatso was so thichk that he would not fall with one hit.
Round 4

- Grun killed Molten Ash Golem with his first strike, and his second strike failed to hit Supply runner.
- Due to Trampling ability, Grun launched his third attack and finished Supply runner. Good Game

BATTLE DISCUSSION
ok I will be honest here, my plan did not work, it failed badly. I could not run the Stampede Killing party at all. There are two points we can take from this battle:
My Opponent Tactic Was Better
My opponent tactic was great, simple as it sounded. In a glance we saw his line up consisted of silly monsters. 2 Non attacking monsters as the tank, and the back party were all archers. However there were two goals he managed to get:
- WIN THE SPEED. He won the speed battle, his monsters hit first and dodged a lot. This was the major reason why I could not run Stampede Party, because they kept dodging Grun attacks.
- CRIPPLE... You don't need a mega hitter to kill monster if we have cripple ruleset. any small attack will reduce opponent maximum health, so it's better to use more monsters and more attacks, those attacks will corrode opponents health and ultimately killing it fast.
GRUN Was OP
I talked about my opponent had better tactic but why would I still win? The answer was GRUN. Let me summarize what GRUN had done in that battle:
- 4 rounds, launched 11 Melee Attacks.
- Killed 3 monsters with 6 landed attacks.
That's the fact. Eventhough Grun had only landed 6 from 11 attacks, which almost half of them were miss, he was still the major threat. Half of opponent's monsters were killed by him .
Although my tactic failed, the battle still showed us how superior GRUN was.
