Simple Guide in Farming Focus Point: Life Element Edition [Silver League]

Hi, welcome to one of my blog post about Splinterlands. In this opportunity I will share one of my simple method in farming daily Focus Point using the White Team/Life Element. There are many reasons why I want to share this method, a few of them are:

  1. I am not a great player, not some champ who wins many tournaments or sit on leaderboard frequently. I don't develop great way to play and win. I have seen some people sharing some deep thought strategies which in the end only a few could follow it. I prefer to share some simple and easy approaches, so any regular players such as me, can easily understand and develop more enjoyable casual plays.
  2. I keep finding some players are a bit lost in this new reward system. They know to play, but due to whatever reasons, they keep failing to get proper amount of daily loot chests. I really hope my post here can help some of them to find and develop their own way farming the RS in order to get more and more loot chests.
  3. I am active in a few Indonesian Splinterlands Community however most of my friend there dislike White Team, the Life Element. They are excited to discuss about Dragoon, Water, and Earth. The sad thing is that I am a fan of Life Element, so this makes me feel like I am bound to promote White Team every time I get the opportunity.

THE START

I started to develop this method from the first day of the new Reward system implemented, season #74. At that time everything was like a hectic, people asked here and there how come they didn't get enough chests meanwhile others were getting a lot. Some even said that BRONZE LEAGUE rewards should get NERF down because it's unfair for higher league players to get less loot chests than them. Rather than joined those people, I wrote down what I did and I tried this method on the second day 2 and it worked well until today. So I think it's ok to say this method works.

Starting Point

As you can see on the above picture, I started the FOCUS: Life elemment from 88% ECR with less than 5 hours of remaining time. The reason why my rating was so low because it's the second day after the End of Season. I ended last season on Silver 2 League, so I started from Bronze 2 League. I wasted many ECR on the first day because I was using the same old tactic as the previous seasons and that didn't work well.

THE FIRST 8 BATTLES

After 8 battles

I spent the first 30 minutes for my first 8 battles. The battles weren't that long, I played splinterlands while doing other things too... making a cup of coffee, playing Jobstribes, Reading on a few Discord Servers.

1 lose in 8 battles

From the first 8 battles, I only lost once. I mostly used Life Element and only once using the Dragons because I needed Brighton Bloom for the Earthquake Ruleset. In average, I get around 4-5k of RS for each battles.

THE FINISH LINE

ending 13 chest.jpg

I ended that day with getting 13 Loot Chests and these were the rewards

image.png

I consumed about 36% of ECR to get about 42-48 battles for those 13 loot chests. Things got a lot easier after my rating breached above 1700 points because after that condition, the RS I got from each battles got better. If you wonder why I kept pushing even my ECR got low, because at that ECR I still got 4.500-6.000 RS for each win.

Overall my loot chests didn't gave me anything special however I was happy the method worked well. If I started with higher ECR and higher rating, maybe I would have got 14-15 loot chests. Nothing special about this performance and result, however I need this as a prove that what I will share here is something that work well, not some mambo jambo theory.

THE DECK BUILD UP

I spent 100DEC on that day to build up my Silver League spamming Life Element. However that didnt mean I spent 100DEC for whole White Team because I had a few monsters before. So I only rented monsters that I didn't have and 3 Summoners

First we need to have monsters that can participate during certain rulesets. We are not discussing all the rulesets here, because this is not a post about making a great Line up to be competitive in league. In my opinion, there are a couple of Ruleset Categories that we need to pay our attention to:

How To Attack Ruleset:

Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles
Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles
Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles

Before we get into any battle, we need to build up a collection of multiple monsters with different type of attacks. We can't rely on magic only, range only nor Melee only. This does't mean we have to balance all three. It's a reminder that if our main force can't be selected due to one of this ruleset, the backup are prepared although they don't have to be as strong as the main force.

Mana Requirement Ruleset:

Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles
Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles
Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles

We need to be precautions in gathering monsters due to these rulesets. Whether is an odd, or an even, we have to have monsters that are available. Same as the Little League Ruleset, don't end up yourself having no good monsters to select.

As I mentioned above, we aren't paying any deep detailed attention towards other than these 6 rulesets because this is not about making a great line up. If you can go deeper, then it's great to do that. However for you who are new to this game, always pay attention to these 6 basic rulesets first!

Monster Categorization

The next part before we start getting our monsters is to systematize our view towards them, I call this one as Monster Categorization. Most of the time I have difficulty to answer everytime my friends ask me what monster he should rent or what must have monsters he should buy. I do not even know his cards so how come I know what he needs.

There are some streamer who keeps simplified this thing, for example some said that monsters can be categorized as tank, support, filler and carry which is a strong monster that will change the meta of your team. It's up to each of us to categorized our splinterlands monsters.

For me, if I talk about Splinterlands line up, I categorized all into these 5 categories

  1. SUMMONERS
  2. TANKS: For me tanks have two meaning. First is the monsters which sit on front that get hit first. Second is any monsters that are meant to be hit and they must endure as much damage as possible.
  3. Support Monsters: Any monsters that have abilities of Buff, Debuff, Status Ailments or Heals.
  4. Damage Dealer: Any monsters that have massive damage, high DPS monsters
  5. Specialist : any monsters regardless their mana, but having abilities such as Sneak, Snipe, Opportunity, or Reach. or maybe no ability at all but having extraordinary high stats.

SUMMONERS

My plan is to have 2 Summoners + Brighton Bloom. Here some point why I choose these 3 summoners

  • I dislike earthquake ruleset, that's why I always bring him into my team. Using brighton as the summoner only, then I will have life as the second element. Cheap way to solve a ruleset without renting more monsters.
  • If you choose to play 1 summoner for Life, you will have this two disadvantages. First you can not have a Legendary Summoner because Little League Ruleset or Low Mana Cap will make the summoner unavailable or a heavy burden to the team. Second your team will be readable and easily countered.
  • If you use 2 rare life summoners, make sure one of them is General Sloan. Sloan is a kind of out the box, because he gives offensive buff. The rest of the Life Summoners focus on defense. Another reason is Renting Sloan is cheaper than others.
  • Always aim to get the highest level Summoner for your league. Unless the price gets very high and you feel it reaches something that is ridiculous, then try to lower it a level. I rented level 3 Bloom because the level 4 rent price was 5x higher.

TANKS

They are 3 my favorite tanks for life elements. It is not about the strength, but it's more about variation that they can give to the team

  • Shieldbearer 8 mana, Chain Spinner 5 Mana, and Pelacor Conjurer 2 mana. I will always have good tank either having Odds, Even, or Little league ruleset. During Keep Your Distance ruleset (no Melee) and Little League ruleset, Pelacor Conjurer will become my main tank.
  • I do not choose to take Lvl 4 Shieldbearer and Lvl 5 Chain Spinner because the price gap were too hugh.

When I showed this 3 tanks to some of my friends, I got one funny response. A friend said "WHO THE F~ IS THIS CHAIN SPINNER?"

I know it's not a famous or familiar tank to be chosen, but let me share a couple of battle to show why he is always in my list to pick:

Battle #1 CHAIN SPINNER vs Last Stand KRON

SUPPORTS

HEALERS

This is what I like on Life element, 2 healers different type of mana required, one is odd and the other is even.

ARMOR SUPPORT

Adelade and Lone Boatman are more than enough, however I like armorsmith due to his small and even mana value

OTHER SUPPORT

Time Mage is strong with slow ability + 2 magic damage, meanwhile herbalist is a great choice to cleanse my tank during Noxious Fume ruleset (poison).

DAMAGE DEALERS

MAGE

RANGE

PERFORMANCE REVIEW

This team was built not for their best stats however they were gathered based on those 6 rulesets approaches and more on rent Price affordability. So here is my opinion to some of the best performer and one of the worst performer of all.

  • SUMMONER : General Sloan. My favorit was Tyrus Paladium, however my winrate using Sloan was higher. Maybe most of my opponents were anticipating Paladium, not Sloan.
  • TANK : Chain Spinner.
  • SUPPORT : Adelade Brightwing. She connected well with Chain Spinner, so both performed very well in the team.
  • DAMAGE DEALER : Prismologist. Maybe due to General Sloan effect.
  • SPECIALIST : Sunkai Harvester. He seemed very strong during Little League ruleset and due to his 4 mana, when he gave some room for bigger monster to get into the team.

WORST PERFORMER

Surprisingly, Silvershield Assassin was my worst performer. I used him twice and both ended up with loses. Maybe My team selection didn't suit him well.

SOME DEEPER THOUGHTS

1. There Will Be A Finish Line Up There

First of all, I will keep remind this thing... you can't use this method to climb up the LeaderBoard. You can keep winning when your rating is still low. The higher rating you have, you will meet the more prepared opponents then your winrate will start dropping.

2. Focus On The Loot Chest, not DEC Battle Rewards

When you play like this, spamming one single element, you need to focus on the loot chest. Check how much RS you get time to time. As long they are good, you can consider to keep running the battles. ECR and DEC battle rewards are not the most important factor now.

However in general, you should limit your self up to 13-14 loot chest per day. More than that you RS gain won't be good on the next day.

3. Please Play In The Highest Tier

If you play in Silver League, please play on Silver 1, same goes for Gold and Diamond. The difficulty is the same because you will be matched to the same opponents so it's a pity if you get lower RS because of your CP.

4. Climbing Above Your Loot chest League

Currently there is a trick how to maximize your loot chests claim. It is to play 2 league above your current one. If you have bronze chest, play on Gold League. If you have silver chest, try to play on Diamond League. by doing this, you can get 30 loot chest per day, this is a quick massive result strategy. However you will suffer a lot on the next season, because you will need to rent
a lot of monster during early season and that will be a lot expensive. Better you stay and keep playing on your desirable league.
