TENYII STRIKER: Ambush Your Backline Opponent

Shorten Lore: Brought to the training creche from birth, taught to steal for food, beaten when caught and trained daily with the sword and spear as soon as they were strong enough for their hands to lift steel, the Tenyii clan were hard as iron and as fierce and silent as midnight on the mountain glacier.

Hi everyone, welcome back to my Splinterlands weekly battle challenge. It's been a long time since my last participation in this Splinterlands Weekly Event, and I am very glad at last I can join in again. This week I choose to have this Tenyii Striker as our main theme, same as everybody else as guided by the curation team.

QUICK INSIGHT ON TENYII STRIKER

image.png

Tenyii Striker is a Rare Rarity Monster from Chaos Legion Edition, It's a Melee type monster with a Sneak aility. Together with Radiated Brute, they become the core of Fire Element Chaos Legion Edition, because both are the only Melee Attackers who can attack from behind. As long you use Tarsa as the your fire Summoner, it's mandatory to have either Tenyii Striker or Radiated Brute in your team unless you play in Wild Format or using Yodin Zaku for Range-Magic play.

Overall Tenyii Striker and Silent Sha-Vi (from death element) are two the best Sneak Attackers in Chaos Legion Edition, regardless which one is better, both are excellent in all aspect. Tenyii has good Melee Damage, good speed, and good health too. The only thing that is lacking on Tenyii is his abilities which are a bit off. His Dodge and Backfire surely say that he will dodge any melee and range then hit back the attackers. Both are great abilities however I don't think it's suitable for a monster who has only 4 speed at his max level.

Battle Preparation

I haven't played Splinterlands on my account for more than a month, so I am using my Scholarship Account from Metanomy. This was the ruleset I got for this battle challenge:

image.png

  • AIM TRUE ~ Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.
  • SPREADING FURY ~ All Monsters have the Enrage ability.
  • 40 MANA

Here were my thought on developing my Line Up:

  1. 40 Mana. I had to get 6 monsters team at any cost.
  2. My opponent could only be a Fire, Earth or Death Team. If he chose a fire team, then I definitely lost because I did not have GRUM. If he chose Earth, I should lose too because I did not have GRUM but I could gamble with using more faster Monsters. If he picked death, I will need some armor for the thorn and their sneak attacks.

So here was my line up that I could come up with:

PositionCardAbilityPlan and Strategy
Summoner+1 Melee and +1 HealthChaos Legion Basic Fire Summoner. She was great due to 2 attribute buff she gave. Sometime I felt she was a bit underrated
Main TankImmunityI think he was the best tank I could choose regarding my Scholar account did not have Grum. He was the best due to simple reason, high melee damage, high armor and high health point.
SecondReachOne of my Enraged-able team. I hoped he could perform well supporting Forgotten One in front
ThirdSneakOur main theme for this week. Would His sneak attacks lead this team to victory?
FourthI liked this monster a lot, he was not special but he had a bit of everything which made him a good filler in any team. Good Magic Damage, good speed, and decent Health.
FifthSneakThis snake was my favorite partner in crime for Tenyii Striker. A Dynamic Duo of Sneak Attackers
The LastClose RangeI needed a backline wall, incase my opponent used Shavi and Uraeus, or same as me using Tenyii and Uraeus. Lava Launchers fit in well for this.

Basically whether I would win or not all depends on these 3 monsters could successful take advantage from SPREADING FURY ruleset or not.

Those 3 have the damage and health point needed for having a good Enraged condition.

It's a Modern Silver League Rank Battle of Fire vs Earth. I should be in a big disadvantage due to the level gap between My Tarsa (level 2) and his Obsidian (level 4). It's like Bronze level army vs Silver Army. However I had my own reason which kept me confident on winning this battle

Round 1

image.png

  • The game started as both party buffing and debuffing their monsters and opponent's monsters.
  • My opponent had 16 combined magic damage and all aimed to the front. He really made a great team.
  • My team had 3 range damage, 2 magic damage and a combined 14 melee damage. My team was a great one too
  • I had my confident due to the Spreading Fury ruleset. I believed Melee Monsters would gain more advantage when they got hurt.

round 1 tenyii.gif

  • Slugfest started right away by exchanging heavy damage toward each other.
  • My enraged Forgotten One killed his Slipspawn and my Uraeus killed his Magi of Chaos. Ofcourse I lost my Forgotten One due to huge magic damage he got. I led the first round by killing 1 more than my opponent.

Round 2

round 2 tenyii.gif

  • Round 2 started with I had lost my biggest hitter, and my opponent had lost his main tank.
  • Both party fought well equally. I lost my Tenyii and He lost his Centauri.

Round 3 and 4

round 3-4 tenyii.gif

  • Losing his Centaurii turned out as a big lost for my opponent. the rest did not have sufficient health point
  • It's a race of who had higher Health and ended up as a WIN for me.

Battle Discussion

My opponent should have won this battle if he picked the right monsters. In my opinion I won this game due to the Battle Rulesets. I picked monsters who get better or taking advantages on the rulesets.

  • Aim True is useless for a mage, because magic always hit the target (unless the target has a phase ability). In this case it's a lost for him because his Regal Peryton lost its ability to dodge meanwhile I was not expecting any of my monsters to dodge attacks.
  • I had 3 monsters who could take advantages from Spreading Fury, including our main theme this week the Tenyii Striker. It didn't matter if they survived or not, the fact their attacks while they were enraged which gave me this Win

Bottom line is, always becareful of a bunch of Melee Attackers during Spreading Fury ruleset.
