Ultimate Defense Life Deck ~ Chaos Knight + Shield Bearer

Chaos Knights are most often found at the front line of the Chaos Legion's invading forces, although they are sometimes enlisted to defend garrisons, leadership, and other high-value assets. They are heavily armored and wield massive battle axes that are able to cut down even the mightiest of foes.

Hi, welcome back again to my entry post for Splinterlands weekly battle challenge. This week we have Chaos Knight from Chaos Legion Life Element for the battle challenge. Before the mighty Uriel The Purifier released, Chaos Knight was the strongest tank in Chaos Legion life element. Let's see our battle first, shall we?

• AIM TRUE ~ Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.
• SPREADING FURRY ~All Monsters have the Enrage ability.
• 40 MANA With this amount of Mana, having a 6 monsters team is a must.

Initially I want to use Water Element, using a Lir Deepsimmwer with his Sea Monster and Deep Lurker. However the Aim True ruleset will make Lir's blind ability useless, so I change my preference to Chanseus The Great. I have seen my opponent's last 5 battles always using a melee, and without any Mylor available, I am sure he will use Fire or Life melee attackers again.

There are 2 ways of using Chanseus the Great to make an Ultimate Life Element Defense

1. Having Shieldbearer in front then using double healer and a repair man, or a healer and double repair men. The first challenge in this approach is how to set proper speed of the healers and repairers. Second challenge is that how you build up damage only from 2 monsters behind, because the rest are meant to defend only. The main weakness is against Charge ability, if you meet heavy hitter using charge ability such as Uriel and Ifrit Rising, mostlikely your tank will die by 1 hit and the rest will crumble.
2. Split the defense, put your Shieldbearer on behind. This means you put a melee tank behind and he won't be able to hit. The first challenge you have here is how to make sure your monster who set as front tank wins against their tank. Second challenge is you need to to find a way to compensate your Shieldbearer attack, because he won't be able to hit. The weaknest is against Blast ability, it will damage 3 of your monsters.

I choose the second approach and I have decided to use** Chaos Knight** as my front tank. This will be a double tanks tactic. So here is my line:

Summoner	Chanseus The Great	Repair, Triage, Resurrect	Chanseus The Great is a unique summoner, as if he will support your team to become a punching bag. Most of Life Element Summoners are like that, focusing on defense only. I need his triage and repair ability, because those will be the life line of my Shieldbearer
Main Tank	Chaos Knight	Shield, Giant Killer	Our main actor for this week. I hope he will win against opponent main tank
Second	ShieldBearer	Taunt	Second tank, with his taunt ability he will divert most of opponent attacks to him. 4 armors and 10 health point make him as one of the best wall
Third	Djinn Renova	Strengthen	She is my main support, her duty is to make Chaos Knight wins. She has 3 magic damage to hurt opponent tank and strengthen to make sure Chaos Knight won't die due to low health point
Fourth	Time Mage	Slow	2 magic damage and a slow ability, those what I need from this monster. I need to make sure my team move first than my opponent
Fifth	Venari Crystalsmith	Tank Heal	She will heals Chaos Knight, and the main reason I choose her because she moves faster than divine healer
Last	TruthSpeaker	Protect	She is a backup supporter, in case Shield Bearer dies, everyone still have some armor and won't die fast from 1-2 attacks

The idea of this lineup can be illustrated like these:

HERE COMES THE BATTLE!!!

It is a Life Element vs Life Element battle. The current strongest tank, Uriel The Purifier vs the previous strongest tank, Chaos Knight. I am glad I have chosen the second approach which is not to put Shieldbearer as my main tank, because if I do that, Uriel will kill him in second round for sure.

Round 1

• The game starts as both party buffing and debuffing their monsters and opponent's monsters.
• Opponent has a total 9 damages this round, because Silvershield Knight can not attack and Uriel is still charging up his attack.
• My team has a total 10 damages this round, with Shieldbearer can not do melee attack and Truthspeaker has no attack.

Round 2

• When you meet Uriel in battlefield, you know things will be nasty. Especially when he gets enraged, he can deliver 6x3=18 damages and only armors can help you out. Forget about any mambo jambo healing 😂 those will be useless

• However the mighty Uriel lost to Chaos Knight, due the the Giant Killer ability. Sucks to be him

Round 3

• Round 3 starts without Uriel, he was slain on the previous round
• Chanseus the great heals my Shieldbearer 3 points and Recover 2 armor in the beginning of the round, that's very important to make sure my shield bearer won't die from 4+1+2=7 damages.
• My Djinn Renova kills oppponent's Adelade Brightwing in the end of the round

Round 4

• Round 4 everything goes on my track, it's a matter of time until their Silvershield Knight gets killed and everything will be over.

• My Venari Crystalsmith kills their knight. It's all over

Round 5 and 6

It's a game over for them. The bad thing when you meet Chanseus The Great, He will heal using Triage Skill and Repair everyone armors which make his opponent looks very lame unable to harm his team.

The Key Winning Point are:

• Ultimate defense Chaos Knight-Shieldbearer supported by Chanseus the Great works well. Opponent could not kill my Shieldbearer and they kept losing their monsters one by one.
• Although Uriel can be considered as the best tank in game, he isn't compatible against Chaos Knight who has Giant Killer Ability
• Things might end differently if opponent brings level 2 Uriel and level 2 Adelade Brightwing. They will have extra abilities, one is resurrect and Uriel has his healing ability. Both are game changing ability, those what make them different in Silver League.

MY OPINIONS AND REVIEW

Frankly speaking, as a tank I think Chaos Legion is a joke. A 6 mana tank who comes with a 4 health point. Sorry guys, I can not find any idea of how this monsters can stand out as a tank. I make a table below so we can compare quickly to other element tank with same mana, which everyone else has way more health points.

On Silver League level cap he grows his melee attack to 3 damage and 3 speed. That seems good, but those number are his max. He won't grow his attack damage and speed anymore. So on later stage this dude will become a little bit of everything.

However not everything about this Chaos Legion are bad. He has the lowest mana required for a Giant Killer ability holder. He can fight against Grum, Grund, or Uriel head on, but don't expect him to win 1 on 1 duel againts those giants.

As I said before that he is a little bit of everything, it means he has potential to be linked with others building up a strategy. Adelade Brightwing can help him repair his armor.
Shieldbearer, as you can see in this battle challenge, links well with him too. if I have Silvershield Paladin, his inspire (+1 melee damge) will make Chaos Legion dangerous too.

Currently we don't know yet what kind of monsters and summoners will be released in Riftwatchers Set. If somehow a new neutral monsters comes with a Silence ability, or a Life Summoner who can give void or reduced opponents' magic damage, this Chaos Knight will get more powerful.

Best Teammates For Chaos Knight

There are many combos or a linked move / teamwork with other Life Monsters that can be perform with Chaos Legion. if I have to choose, in general My favorite will be these two monsters

Repair Ability and + 2 magic damage. Due to her slow speed, she can kill any monsters which are damaged by Chaos Knight attacks.	Strengthen Ability and + 2 magic damage. Djinn Renova will help Chaos Knight adding 1 health point

There are many others monsters that perform well with Chaos Knight during certain Rulesets, for example Disintegrator during Equal Opportunity Ruleset and Upclose & Personal Rulest. Disintegrator has higher health, so Opponent will hit Chaos Knight First. They will hit a rock wall due to Chaos Knight's Shield and Disintegrator's demoralize ability.

But overall, those two girls above are the perfect teammates for Chaos Knight for any rulesets and opponents

Summary

The PROs are:

• He is an early bloomer, his attack in term of damage and speed is good since beginning
• He has a little bit of everything, he can link in with other monsters
• Currently this card is sold for a very reasonable price, might be a good investment for future.

The CONs are:

• For a tank, his health is just too low. Magic and poison are too much for him.
• He is more like a utility attacker, fit in and excel only in certain condition. He doesn't perform like a true tank who can protect and carry up the team.
