Winning By Withstanding Opponents' Attacks

Hello Guys
Welcome to my another Splinterlands post. Let's talk about Splinterlands battle again. I have a recent battle that I think it is very interesting. In the past I talked a lot about turtle formation, a formation or lineup I set super defensively and I won the battle because my opponents could not break my team defense... Most of them happened because my healing and recovery outwitted their attacks.
This time it is different. We have several new ruleset, and some open possibilities to win by leaning on defense. However some are forcing us to emphasize more attacks to win, by making some drawbacks and disadvantages on defensive part.
I will be brief here, I am going to show you a battle why only by withdstanding opponents attacks I could win. Lets check our battle then!
The Battle
So this is the battle we are talking about now. I take this one as something interesting because in my line up, I have zero, no any real heavy hitter. I have one big tank and the rest are there only to defend.
It is very contrast to my opponent. They have two big hitters, three with the Halfling
Refugee but he has that weary ability which makes him often does nothing. so let's take it out from our calculation.

The first modifier is Collateral Damage. This is the key on playing defensive. Actually this ruleset is made to force people to attack, because all units will keep hurting the adjacent units so the most simple solution is to bring the heaviest hitters you have. We can't heal all of our units, right?
However in this battle I want to prove you all that we can win by playing defensively with Collateral Damage modifier. There are two keys here, first the mana cap given should not be big, in this case 28 mana cap might be on the top limit. Above that mana cap, people will employ monstrous units and defense will be futile.
The second one is to populate our team with as many healers we can get, and of course buff and debuff which make our team getting favorable condition.

The second modifier is Outsider. This is the most recent one, which we are allowed to bring in one wild unit. This is non essential but it can give us meta or tactic that other (our opponent) might not anticipated it before.
My opponent and I take different approach on this second modifier, because how we set our line up to anticipate Collateral Damage is very different.

My opponent prefers to use Venari Marksrat because His Core unit is Venka The Vile. Venari Marksrat will die from collaretal damage and buffs up Venka. This is a good approach, because when we get used with Modern Format, we tend to forget there is a martyr ability out there on the Wild Format.

I take Iziar, not to support my line up. She is my core units, which I hope she could take and absorb as many damage so my opponent will end up killing each other. Simple but weird move, such a cowardice!
So let see what happens in the process

It's is already 6 vs 5 condition however my opponent put Frigid Wolf as a meat wall there. It is useless during other modifier, but Collateral Damage modifier makes this move as a smart one.
My opponent relies on melee damage, and I have anticipated this by having Mana Warden to give shield to Iziar. My team only has 3 magic damage and 1 range damage, combined all, the damage reach to equal against Venka the Vile attack lol. You can say I have no intention to attack at all.

When round 2 starts, you can see my team still has a good condition, however my opponent doesn't have it. They are wounded everywhere and this is the traits we have during the Collateral Damage modifier.
You should have noticed here, I have 3 healers lol. However the poison they gave to my Iziar in the first round becomes crucial here, as I am going to lose her soon.

Round four is the last one. you can see well here, actually they are losing because they keep hurting each other and my team manages to heal as hard as they hurt their team mate.
They might send the mighty Zarin the Scorch and Venka the Vile, doubling my team attack power. However my cowardice approach in this battle gives the best result, we win by it. So what do you think about this cowardice approach? feel free to leave any comment and thank you for visiting my post!
