The ruleset for this week's challenge

image.png

  • Wands Out - Only units with magic attacks may be used

The ruleset that I managed to get

image.png

  • Rulesets - Earthquake & Wands Out
  • Mana Cap - 42
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png image.png image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Bortus

  • With this weeks challenge to get huge advantage from your summoner you need either - magic damage, Void, Phase or Void Armor
  • From the elements that I got I only had two playable summoners either Bortus with -1 magic damage or Brighton Bloom with Flying ability for the Earthquake ruleset
  • I decided to go with Bortus but both would've been fine
1st Position: Prismatic Energy

  • Main reason I played Prismatic Energy here was his Magic Reflect ability
  • He is also quite tanky which is handy because the Earthquake ruleset is chipping my monsters down every turn
  • Magic Reflect - When hit with a magic attack, does reduced magic damage back to the attacker
2nd Position: Djinn Oshannus

  • Djinn Oshannus was going to be my main tank as he is quite tanky and has the Void ability
  • I was hoping my enemy would play maximum 2 magic damage monsters so my Bortus -1 makes them 1 damage and there for my Djinn Oshannus wouldn't take any damage from my enemies monsters
  • Void - Reduced damage from magic attacks
3rd Position: Captain's Ghost

  • I played Captain's Ghost because of hes decent stats and Affliction ability
  • With the ruleset that we got there wasn't a lot of monsters with Heal or Tank Heal but I still wanted to eliminate the possibility for him to play any healing monsters
  • Affliction - When a unit with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed
4th Position: Nerissa Tridawn

  • Next up in line is my main damage dealer for this battle
  • Even if my enemy played Void my Nerissa Tridawn would still deal 2 damage to him which is much better than chipping him down with 1 damage at a time
  • She is also quite tanky which is great for the Earthquake ruleset as I don't have Flying on her
5th Position: Venari Wavesmith

  • Super useful card not only in this battle but almost every other battle as well
  • Main reason I played Venari Wavesmith here was hers Protect ability
  • Protect - All friendly units gain +2 Armor
  • In this battle the 2 armor was great because it gave me essentially 1 extra round without Earthquake damage
6th Position: Ice Pixie

  • Ice Pixie was the last monster that I picked for my team
  • Main reason that I picked her was that I only had 2 mana left and the second reason was that she had the Flying ability
  • Flying - This unit has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks from units who do not have the flying ability
  • I placed her in the last position as she only had 1 hp and would tank only one hit if she was in the front but if my enemy wouldn't play monsters with Void she can damage them every round till the battle ends

Starting board

image.png

  • The starting board didn't really say anything other than my summoner pick was definitely better
  • One thing that scared me was my enemies 6 speed Djinn Oshannus with Phase but I was still hopeful

image.png

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

image.png

  • After 1st Round when I saw how much damage I did to my enemies Djinn Oshannus I understood that this is not going to be a problem and I will probably win this battle
  • Even if my Prismatic Energy died I still had my Djinn Oshannus who they can't hurt so I had at least 6 more rounds to clear out his board
2nd Round

image.png

  • After 2nd Round my board was still looking almost as healthy as in the beginning
  • Only my Prismatic Energy was about to fall and my armor was gone but looking at my enemies board I was now sure I am going to win this battle
  • From this point on it was just a matter or time when I was done cleaning up his board
3rd Round

image.png

  • In the 3rd Round my enemies Djinn Oshannus finally died, got resurrected and died again for the final time
  • Now I just needed to watch the start of the 4th Round as the Earthquake kicked in and killed the last 3 standing enemy monsters
4th Round

image.png

  • After the Earthquake kicked in and killed the last standing monsters on my enemies side I had won the battle
  • Battle Replay Link

Summary

  • This battle was definitely heavily one sided because of the summoner difference we had
  • I believe the strategy to take away from this battle is the -1 magic damage paired with Void is super effective in Wands Out ruleset
